Be class though if he goes there for the rest of the season, has the games of his life and they buy him off us for £40 million. Kompany could buy about 142 players with that.

Kompany may well fancy having a look at him. Trouble is, there’s far too many on here who have written him off so he’d just be a scapegoat I’m afraid.
As much as I’d love to see him play in this team, I think sadly we have seen the last of him.

Without diverting this into one of the forty Weghorst threads from last season - loads wrote him off (including me) at the time due to his inability to fit into a system which clearly didn’t suit him.
It’s a different kettle of fish with this team, he’d be a beast in it I think. He didn’t suit long ball football at all as he’s more of a footballer than his stature maybe makes people think. I think he’d get a clean slate from all, and I think he’d excel in this system, genuinely.

It's not that unrealistic. United need cover upfront, and signing top level players in January isn't easy.

There’s so much going on today I haven’t had chance to turn the Ipad off.
This is obviously happening and we must have agreed to it - otherwise Besiktas could just loan him to the Blades and scupper our season. We must retain a say. So that begs the question can we benefit from it, e.g. a higher loan fee and reject any pre negotiated sale price in May?

The way I see it if this does happen, is we get him in a bigger shop window. If he performs well in the Prem until the end of the season, we could demand quite a large fee which VK can reinvest (and pay more off the debt). Or, we keep him and he plays for us next season. Not a bad position for us to be in.

Can you image if Besiktas have loaned him out knowing full well they have a deal in place to buy him at the end of the season. They then sell immediately at a profit if he does well.

Can they loan him out without our consent? He's still pur player at the end of the day.

They signed Ighalo not long ago and Weghorst is a better player than him.
Weghorst is a good, well respected player you know, people need to see beyond their utter disbelief that someone didn't want to play in the Championship, which let's be honest is a terrible standard.
