I believe it's his senior debut for them
Even having been there as a senior 2005-2010 and again 2021 onwards.

Made one previous appearance as a substitute in a European game last season

He hasn't featured much and with them bringing Jack Butland in on loan the LC might be his only chance of getting game time.

Mind you if DDG throws anymore mistakes in like against Everton the number 1 shirt could be up for grabs.

Almiron must be the most improved player in the Premier league this season.
Every time I have seen him this year he has been superb.

I'm not sure what is more irritating, their jumping on the bus now, or their doing their best previously to laud Steve bruce when the only people that thought he was great for Newcastle in the North East supported Sunderland.

Nick Pope has played 21 games for Newcastle this season and kept 13 clean sheets, 10 in the PL and 3 in the Carabao Cup.
He has not conceded a goal in his last seven matches ----but his kicking isn't very good! What a bloody joke!

I keep telling my Geordie neighbours that Pope is the best keeper Newcastle have ever had.

Told my dad to watch out for Almiron when he signed from Atlanta. Went to a few games with him and Chris McCann playing together for Atlanta United about 4/5 years ago. Absolute quality and fast. Was surprised he didn’t do better when he first moved, but there’s a big difference to playing around the US in summer versus Newcastle on a January or February night. Took him a while to settle, I guess.

Thought Newcastle were excellent last night. Some of the attacking patterns of play are really well coached.

Said at the time Pope was the perfect signing for where they are at and was surprised how many Geordies (online) seemed underwhelmed with the signing.

The midfield work so hard for Newcastle, with a very effective press and they have excellent delivery from Trippier

Almiron, Joelinton, Guimaries - all excellent last night

They also said Tarkowski wasn't good enough to join them.

Strange entitled bunch they are.

Willock and Longstaff just never stop working also

They are turning into a very good team - just need a top quality striker

Went to the Leicester v Newcastle PL game on Boxing Day and was really impressed with Newcastle. They have genuine pace, skillfull players, and a progressive British manager, and that was with Chris Wood leading the attack. In fairness he played well that day. They also have some outstanding defenders. In Guimaraes they have one of the best midfielders in the PL. Hate to say it too, but in their fans they have one of the most loyal and passionate vocal group in the land

Sounds childish but I massively went off Newcastle over the last few years in the Prem and had previously really liked them and their fans.

Eddie is doing a tremendous job there one or two signings off a trophy winning team, and he's set up a defence that's looking good, many on here said he had no idea how to do it,well that's a kick in the nuts to all the knowalls on here

There's always been a very good player in there but he's only previously shown it in flashes, been far more consistent this season.

Amazing what can be accomplished with the biggest budget in world football.

I'm not sure their budget is as big as many assume, yes they have rich owners, however Eddie Howe has alluded that FFP rules mean they can't just spend carte blanche.

And it's one thing being able to sign top players, it's quite another being able to mould them into an effective unit as Howe has done in a rapid period of time.

Plus many of their better performers Almiron & Joelinton for 2 examples where already at the club when EH was appointed.

They’re going about it the right way with a slow buildup in squad transformation by levels. The budget line is a completely lazy argument.

Don’t be fooled by mild mannered Eddie. We’ve no idea how their finances are constructed and how they will be incentivising their players. They were highest spenders in the premnover the summer. FFP is a balance of spend vs revenue, sure they can find many legitimate ways to make this work. However, what is most distasteful is for all of the outraged comments around Qatar this lot seem to be getting off having any scrutiny applied to them around the source of their funds.

But I thought you didn't like goalkeepers who weren't good with their feet?

Never said that!

Difference between ‘not liking’ and understanding what different profiles of keepers offer to different systems.

Eddie is not going to be at Newcastle for ever. Would like to think that the authoirities one day will look at him as a future England manager. Think he could take our team to the next level. By comparison I could not see Southgate doing as good a job at Newcastle as Eddie is doing

While the media love in with Newcastle is somewhat over the top , see for eg their nauseous quotes about their fans an hour or more before KO just because they were singing, you’d think the cure for cancer and world peace had emitted from the beer bellied ranks. It can’t be denied that Eddie has got these playing as a slick unit though . Though they’re gonna need some some serious signings to even emulate Leicester’s post title yrs .
