Disgraceful whoever it was, can anyone at the ground confirm it was Cov fans?

Was definitely a group of Coventry fans.

To be fair there were plenty of their own telling them to shut up - just too many idiots to make enough of a difference.

A lack of class from a group of dick heads.

Last time I visited Coventry I don't remember feeling it was an AONB.
They really don't like us do they. Their forum being very salty about our win. Oh dear, never mind.

Really strange fans Coventry. Never brought any numbers to the turf and yet after manufacturing a rivalry on Twitter over the summer sell out.

They’re one of them clubs stuck in that area where you become irrelevant, shame because they’re a big club and can get a big support (as seen) ruined by rich men playing monopoly

The first part of it was the usual fans coming up from the concourse not knowing there is a minutes silence. That is completely understandable.

The singing near the end "Burnley's a shithole" was far from okay, pretty pathetic, sure their parents are so proud.

A long time since I was offered a fight after the game on the way back to the car.
Still trying to get my head round the fan who was removed from the CFS by stewards and then required another steward to look after his child. Seen this a few times this season - incredible

Coventry fan outside the ground after the game who was allowed to walk through the gap in the buses

I was at the other side of the ground, but it sounded like one or two coventry fans started shouting something like "get on with it"
It seemed to erupt from that point.
It was the poorest observance of a minutes silence that I remember in a while.

As stated above. They have been a bit weird since we were linked with O'Hare at the start of the season.

It will be a while before we play them again thankfully

A couple of their fans were bouncing about behind the JH before the game, giving it the big ‘Un until they asked a steward where the away end was and they were told to go all the way back around the ground.

The minutes silence was a bunch of kids near the Burnley fans shouting “Burnley’s a shithole….”

Really weird club with no obvious rivalry with anyone. Twitter is showing videos of their fans smashing seats and throwing object at our players warming down after the game.

Hopefully they go bust.

Against Blackburn we had an impeccable silence. Today a section of Coventry fans showed that there still too many scumbags attending football matches. Dreadful. Pleased they lost.

Didn’t look like she was taking photos to me. In any case, club shouldn’t be asking her to do that. Just respect the silence.

One other point I didn’t have time to include in my first post on this thread as I was setting off home.

At Coventry, pre-game, they did a very similar thing for Coventry fans that had died (weird time of the year to do it I thought, but fair enough) on their screen. We all observed it impeccably, and this was quite a while before the game mind you. Coventry fans sat nearest us actually applauded the Burnley fans for the respect shown.

Unfortunately Coventry City fans have sullied their reputation with me after today. The minutes silence is incredibly important for the family members who’s names are on that screen. Thankfully for me, it wasn’t my time to include someone’s name - it will be one day. If that had happened on ‘that day’ for me, a very hard moment, I would be absolutely seething with that club.

Disgraceful, and all borne out of teenage angst directed at us for being a bigger, wealthier club who their best players want to play for. Get over it you pathetic children and find a rivalry where you’ll get a bit of interest given back to you.

For a bit of balance, they’re exactly the same as us. We have knobheads, drunk kids and older chaps who should know better following us everywhere. And a majority who are sound and just want to watch the match and have a pint.

And although I’d never disturb a minute’s silence, it’s still a really weird thing for us to do, in my minority opinion. Like I say though, easy enough to pipe down for 60 seconds.

Anyone remember Bill Fox’s minute’s silence on the Turf, before we get too holier than thou?

Exactly! We still sing about a bloke almost every week that died of cancer 20 years ago, purely out of jealousy, it’s pathetic really.

Coventry fans seem to hate everyone and everything. When I was at Uni in the late 90’s I lived in halls with a Coventry and a Villa fan. The Coventry fan hated Villa. Villa couldn’t have cared less - they hate Birmingham. It used to wind the Coventry fan up even more that the Villa fan just laughed at him and didn’t react. They don’t really have a geographical rival all to themselves so they just seem to shout at and hate everyone. Always seen them as a particularly strange bunch.

Really ****** off with the coventry fans. Never had anything against them but today they ruined the minuets silence, and they were 3 coventry fans behind me in the Jimmy mac lower behaving like knobs.
Their fans are very strange indeed.
They seem a very weid and entitled bunch.
Hope they go into administration.

Obviously the Coventry fans who disrespected the minutes silence are **** bags, but you’ve got a good point in that no one who sings the Jack Walker chant is in a position to criticise as they’re just as bad.

Let’s face it “??????????’s a **** hole etc, etc, etc is one of the worst ever chants, if you wanna go home then f***ing stay at home and put your spare cash into your club. Secondly Coventry City are once again on the verge of becoming a club without a home, which in this day & age is unacceptable. As this is an ongoing situation they should be given an ultimatum, find a stadium to complete your fixtures for the next 5 season’s minimum and then be reassessed. Stop claiming to be the UK’s worst bombed City and respect anybody else’s wishes to respect their losses. The club is a shambles, the minority of their so called supporters are disgraceful. Other than that they can fester away, and for me they will not be missed UTC

I think you have a point here. Additionally the names were already scrolling up by the time the teams had lined up and the announcer started to explain what was going on.
It wasn’t clear in my opinion, it took time for everyone to settle into silence before the Coventry fans then ruined it.

Sounded like some Coventry fans entering the stand being a bit boisterous. Lets assume they didnt know. A few others tried hushing it and a not insignificant number of reprobates started chanting Burnley's a ****hole, bringibg our memorial to a swift close.

An escalation which I suspect was largely down to drunken ignorance but it shouldn't happen, ever.

It didn't get much better after the game either. Groups of fans (both sides) goading eachother near the traffic lights and loads of missiles being thrown from the gathered Coventry fans into crowds of Burnley fans. I saw a worrying number of guardians with minors slowing down and gesticulating at the away fans exposing children to this. What a fine example.

Football thuggery is returning and it's really unpleasant.

If they’ve done this on the back of another club offering a sum of money to purchase one of their players, then they need to go have a long lie down in a dark dark room.

I remember the last time we played them at the turf. They were on course for being relegated and their fans sang all game. Was impressed with them and remembered them as plucky underdogs in the Premier league for years.
I think every club now has a problem with school hooligans. Crap haircuts, can't handle their drink, act hard behind stewards and fences

I really cannot help but think they did!

Who cares about Coventry City? Certainly not Burnley - and you’d have thought them the same with us. They’re not a club I’ve ever associated with a good travelling crowd, but they sold out today and were singing “We’ve got O’Hare” etc pre game, in a strange attempt to goad us that we sadly don’t have their ACL ridden midfielder. It feels like they’ve taken interest in their player incredibly personally and have a strange Carlisle United-esque obsession with us. As I mentioned earlier in the post, I don’t think anyone cares about Coventry even locally to them, so perhaps they see an opportunity to try and create a faux-rivalry of some sort.

Needless to say, I realise it’s the minority who did this today, of course it is. It really did rile me though, particularly after seeing us show them the utmost respect at their soulless bowl earlier in the season in similar circumstances.

Definitely the most abnoxious set of away fans I've come across for a while.

Won't go into detail but I and my 10 year old grandson encountered some real tossers effing and jeffing and giving it large in/around the Cricket Club before the game.

Think I celebrated the goal against them more than the ones against Rovers.

I have a Sunderland supporting mate and he said very similar things about the Coventry away support at the Stadium of Light over 2/3 seasons.

So it seems their behaviour today wasn't a one-off.

Criticise whatever you like. But just as I personally didn’t feel any guilt whatsoever for some dick from Burnley flying the White Lives Matter banner, or morons chanting about Jack Walker’s death, I don’t think any more or less of Coventry fans in general because of today.

Their fans are no different to our fans, it’s the generalising I was highlighting as wrong. All the minutes silences need binning off ideally anyway but that’s another thread.

Agree.

It's this type of self deprecating mindset that is the prevailing culture on this board which is the main reason I stopped posting on it.

Always the same.

Make excuses for those that did wrong and then find a way to try and make ourselves feel bad.
