Muric 7 - dealt with a couple of situations and calm distribution
Roberts 7 - another solid showing up and down
Beyer 7 - battled well and got a big goal
Taylor 5 - got rolled by Gyokeres way too easy and passing was awful
Maatsen 8* - some really good defending and progressive passing
Cork 5 - daft yellow card and lost the midfield battle first half
Cullen 6 - far, far better second half
Brownhill 8- anonymous first half, thought he ran the midfield 2nd half a bit deeper
Benson 6 - not his game this one
Zaroury 7 - kept going, they doubled up on him with two powerful full backs in Dabo and Norton-Cuffy
Jay 4 - well off form atm which is a concern

Tella 8 - made such a difference with his running in behind and used the ball really well
JBG 8 - found space and used it better than JB did first half
Barnes 7 - offered a presence that Jay didn’t

Muric 7 - Did nothing wrong but then he didn't have anything to do
Roberts 8 - a crucial challenge
Beyer 8 - immense and a great goal
Taylor 7
Maatsen 8
Cullen 7
Cork 7 Not his best game. That early booking didn't help
Brownhill 7
Benson 6 - Didn't bring his A game today
Zaroury 6 - Similar to Benson, didn't have much luck today
Rodriguez 5 - not been at the races for a few weeks now

Gudmundsson 8* My MOM. His influence changed the game for me
Tella 8 - Excellent as always and held the ball up well

Taylor played well and his passing was effective. In fact he had the highest pass completion rate at 95%.

Thought it was ponderous and not very effective. I’d imagine his progressive passing numbers and % was very low. I’m wondering if Al-Dakhil might force his way in over the coming weeks, it will be interesting.

Not from the stats I've seen but there may be others that support your view.

Some of those seem harsh but I thought we were quite a way away from our usual level today. Maatsen struggled a tad, especially first half. Cork and Rodriguez had off days too. Generally our passing and tempo was wayward and slow. Huge improvements after the hour when we were more like our usual selves, moving the opposition about and with plenty of runs in behind.

Not as pretty as it has been, but a good win nonetheless.

Muric 7 - great with feet again
Roberts 7 - seems to becoming more effective
Beyer 8 - some important blocks and nice header
Taylor 7 - did a job
Maatsen 7 - strange game for me. I like him but touch was a bit heavy at times today
Cullen 8 - used the ball well
Cork 5 - really off the pace today
Benson 6 - plugged away and missed a golden chance
Brownhill 7 - much better in a deeper role.
Needs to be in the action.
Zaroury 6 - kept going but I think they did a good job on him. Pretty untidy which is unusual.
Rodriguez 5 - not sure what he offers us at the moment. Very easy first half for their centre half’s.

Guðmundsson 8 - changed the game - fantastic footballer
Tella 7 - made a positive impact.
Barnes 7 - gave us more of a focal point

From tv
Muric 7 not a lot to do but pass the ball around
Roberts 7 improving with every game
Beyer 9 mom, plus one for the goal in another majestic performance
Taylor 7 better left back than centre back, we missed THB today
Maatsen 8 great second half
Cork 7 bit off it today, but still our best footballing midfielder
Cullen 7 better in second half
Brownhill 7 I prefer him in a morr deep-lying defensive role
Benson 6 didn't impress going forward as much today
Zaroury 6 like Benson didnt attack the full back enough
Jayrod 6 always plays better when Tella is on the field

JBG 8 game changer
Tella 8 game changer, has to start for me.
VK 8 excellent timing of all subs.

Muric 6 - Not much to do really.
Not seen any stats but I thought Muric had a lot of touches today.
His game management was excellent and distribution generally very goof.
He also did well in v difficult conditions for a keeper.
I think Coventry might have had a couple were it not for his excellent anticipations particularly when the otherwise excellent Beyer sold him short.

We were well below par first half (thought Coventry were excellent) but as they tired and we made subs (who all improved us) we gradually took control

Last twenty five minutes Cov barely got out of our half and we probably just about deserved the win

But we had to work for it

Muric 8 - flawless distribution
Roberts 7 - solid
Taylor 7 - solid
Beyer 8* - pleased to see him score and he looked imperious 2nd half
Maatsen 7
Benson 5 - not his day
Cork 5 - ditto
Cullen 7 - much better 2nd half
Brownhill 7 - much better 2nd half
Jay 5 - really quiet
Zourary 7 - much better 2nd half

Subs
JBG 7 - excellent
Tella 7 - unplayable when we went 1-0 up but effective before that as well
Barnes 7 - worked hard, provided a presence that we needed

We could go 19 points clear of 3rd on Friday, which is testament to what a run we are on

First half was up there with our worst of the season but the half time change improved things markedly and we only got better as the game went on. Coventry were at the top of their game and we we nowhere near ours but we kept going and deserved the win in the end.

Muric - 7 very testing conditions for keepers. Especially impressed with how he managed to keep getting up and at Gyokeres when he was clean through and trying to round him.

Roberts - 7 bang in form

Beyer - 7 disastrous back pass to put them in and he overran the ball a couple of time in midfield, which put us on the back foot. Top movement and header to win the game though.

Taylor - 7 did absolutely fine and managed to move the ball out to the left wing much quicker than he was doing early in the season.

Maatsen 6 nowhere near MOM but excellent trolling by the sponsor in picking him.

Cork - 6 dumb booking, he knew it, and wa rightly hooked

Cullen 6 poor first half, much better second

Brownhill 7 anonymous first half, very good second as he was more involved

Benson - 5 not his day at all and the one he skied should have bust the net

Zaroury - 6 could have been him or Benson to make way but JBG got him more in the game in areas where he could face up his marker. It was constantly played behind him first half so he was always coming back towards our goal.

Rodriguez - 5 hardly saw the ball, well Marshall edit by their centre halves

Gudmundsson - 8 changed the game, put in two supervision crosses that we should have scored from and retained the ball higher up the pitch which got us on the front foot.

Tella - 7 lively and intelligent running was exactly what their back line didn't want to be facing for the last half hour

Barnes - 6 bustled a bit more up top which we needed and was key to seeing the game out at the end. Excellent manhandling of two Coventry lads in the melee.

Game turned on the JBG sub and Barnes/Tella's introduction turned the screw. Winning when you don't play well. Lovely.

Maatsen 6 nowhere near MOM but excellent trolling by the sponsor in picking him.

Exactly our thoughts too, thought the sponsors gave him MOM just to plss the Coventry fans off !

Muric 7 - passing was good when playing out from the back and did well when one on one with Gyokeres.

Roberts 7 - different role again today but played a vital part in keeping a clean sheet.
Beyer 8 - poor back pass apart he was excellent and grew into his battle with the centre forward.
Taylor 7 - another who had a shaky first half and got stronger as the game progressed.
Maatsen 7 - one really superb challenge in the 1st half and generally played well.

Cork 5 - seemed short of a yard or two today. Reckless challenge for the booking. Rightly hooked.
Cullen 8 - not really involved 1st half but sensational 2nd half. He was our heart beat.
Brownhill 7 - completely anonymous 1st half. Much improved 2nd half. Good energy and always showing for the ball.

Benson 6 - not his game today. Although he should have seen a lot more of the ball in the 1st half which wasn’t his fault.
Zaroury 7 - not really on it today but kept probing and trying to affect the game.
Rodriguez 6 - it’s not really happening for Jay at the moment. Seems a yard off the pace.

JBG 9 - outstanding. Played intelligently and don’t remember him giving the ball away. Quite suits the no 10 tole and brought more to the team offensively running in behind than Brownhill does.
Tella 8 - brought some great energy and pace to the team. Another great cameo and unlucky not to score with the header.
Barnes 7 - was effective and did brilliantly to run the clock down (not looking to throw himself to the ground all the time).

Muric 7 - dealt with a couple of situations and calm distribution
Roberts 7 - another solid showing up and down
Beyer 7 - battled well and got a big goal
Taylor 6 - Gyokeres gave him a difficult game, hasn’t played at centre half for long enough, but will improve.
Maatsen 7 - some really good defending and progressive passing, nice troll by the sponsors choosing him as MOM.
Cork 5 - daft yellow card and lost the midfield battle first half
Cullen 6 - far, far better second half
Brownhill 7anonymous first half, thought he ran the midfield 2nd half a bit deeper
Benson 6 - not his game this one
Zaroury 7 - kept going, they doubled up on him with two powerful full backs in Dabo and Norton-Cuffy
Jay 4 - well off form atm which is a concern

Tella 8 - made such a difference with his running in behind and used the ball really well
JBG 8 *MOM -found space and used it better than JB did first half
Barnes 7 - offered a presence that Jay didn’t

Nicked the comments from RV claret, hardly changed a word. Really good summation for me.

Muric 8 - very good
Roberts 7 - good
Beyer 8 - minus one for horrendous back pass that should have cost us, but wins it back for scoring the winning goal. Otherwise excellent.
Taylor 7 - some good defending but our build-up play was noticeably poorer with him at CB
Maatsen 6 - good game but rightly took a bollocking first half from Kompany
Cullen 7 - lost the midfield battle first half but was outstanding second half
Cork 5 - unusually very poor and another silly, unnecessary booking
Brownhill 6 - same as Cullen first half, much better in a deeper role
Benson 6 - not his game but still our biggest thread first half
Rodriguez 5 - way, way off it at the minute
Zaroury 5 - thought he was poor today

JBG 8 - brilliant half. Changed the game.
Tella 7 - just what we needed with those pacey runs in behind
Barnes 6 - better than Jay

Excellent substitutions in which was a testing game both in the conditions first half and Coventry’s performance during that time

Muric 5 Sorry but no mistakes or not he just doesn`t fill me or sometimes the defence with confidence. BFP for me
Roberts 7 Lacklustre 1st half but much better 2nd
Beyer 8 Played well without his sidekick just a bit over ambitious with his forward runs
Taylor 6 Didn`t defend badly but the lack of pace on his passes gave the forwards closing down a chance
Maatsen 7 Not sure where he was playing early on but second half was brilliant
Cullen 7 Quietly got on with it some good stuff some just ok
Cork 6 His lack of pace gets him booked but his contribution warrants him starting, not so much today we looked better without
him
Brownhill 5 I like Brownhill but today he didn`t look at the races apart from the last 20 minutes or so
Benson 6 Another one that didn`t look quite at it, hopefully just an off day
Zaroury 7 ok first half a lot better in the second and carried more of threat
Rodriguez 4 Doesn`t challenge for headers up front, pedestrian throughout the game, not the usual J Rod, doesn`t warrant a start at
the moment

Gudmundsson 8 MoM Made things happen and created chances for others
Tella 8 His pace, touch, positivity and willingness to take a man on created problems for them, struggled to keep him in check
Barnes 7 The new look leaner Ashley carries a real threat and has done for a few games now, should be starting

A turgid first half where we moved the ball to slowly, mishit passes and never really got any sort of rhythm going, second half substitutions made the difference, luckily VK makes these changes with enough time for them to be effective. Its a good sign when we play poorly by our own standards and still win, that`s the combination that wins championships. UTC

Muric 7 - typically excellent distribution and did well with the one on one. Don’t think he had a save other than that.
Roberts 7 - he’s well on it now. Good dynamic performance.
Beyer 8 - took one off for the slack pass, one back on for the goal, otherwise imperious
Taylor 7 - grew into the game against a very tricky customer
Maatsen 7 - as usual, some not so great stuff, some great stuff. The latter is worth the slip ups.
Cullen 8 - I though he was excellent in that second half, ran it
Cork 5 - totally off it and a rash challenge, correctly hooked. The two game suspension will actually help for a recharge
Brownhill 7 - really came into second half with his dynamic play
Benson 6 - kept plugging away to no real joy. Should’ve scored
Zaroury 6 - very quiet first half but came into it more when JBG came on
Rodriguez 4 - way off it today

Gudmundsson 8* - changed the game, thought he was class
Tella 7 - really intelligent runs and use of the ball
Barnes 7 - showed more than Jay, closed the game out really well, knocking on the door for a start

Not our free flowing best, but another W. We’re just a winning machine at the moment and it’s a joy to watch even when we’re somewhat below par.

Beyer just shades it for me for MoM with the goal and apart from the backpass which almost let them in, I thought his game was of a very high quality in dealing with a tricky player such as Gyokeres. Honourable mentions go to Maatsen and JBG. VK deserves credit today in how to use your substitutes effectively. A very tight game, Coventry played well and we were not in it especially 1st half but our tenacity showed in the end and we just about deserved the win.

Fortuitous is the best word I can use on the result, bar the last 20 minutes. For large parts we were second best and Coventry can count themselves unlucky not to get anything. The subs made a huge impact on the win.

Zero shots on target in the entire game...plus other stats suggest Coventry shouldn't really be yarking about the result.
