I've got a pile of CDs and some DVDs that are just sat there doing nothing. It's unlikely they will ever be played again so I've decided I might as well get rid of them.

Can anyone recommend anywhere to sell them?

I’ve used Music Magpie in the past. I’d avoid eBay as they seem to be taking quite a large percentage of sales these days and for the price you’ll get for them it probably won’t be worth it.

CEX in burnley music magpie they dont give much though ebay might be your best bet i sell vintage toys now instead of dvds and cds otherwise i would have bought them

Let us know how you get on Tony, I’ve a number of boxes of CDs and DVDs in the garage I keep promising to sort out so if you find a good (and hassle free) way of selling let me know.

CEX or Music Magpie but you will literally get pennies per item. Even hundreds of DVD's would be likely worth £20, depending what it is.

Honestly id say its not worth the time you'd spend selling them. Best to see if any charity shop or even the food back would want them

Cex will give you £0.01 on most DVDs these days. Echo what Zizkov said, probably best to charity shop them.

Take them to a Charity shop or give the empty cases to somebody that does Crafting ,they can use them.

I had the same problem, hundreds of dvds virtually worthless, I gave mine to a local hospice rather than a charity shop

Unless you've anything rare then I wouldn't waste your time. DVD's are practically worthless, but you might have a hidden gem of a CD. If you put all your CD's on ebay as a job lot then someone who knows what's what might bid on it if there is anything worth bidding on. A friend of mine does a weekly trek round charity shops and picks up things you wouldn't expect, like Spice Girls singles or Now 23 for 50 pence and sell it for £20, but he knows what he's looking at.

Failing that you could always channel your inner arts and crafts and create modern art to sell on etsy.

I use Discogs to buy used CDs, you buy direct from the individual seller. I'm thinking about getting rid of loads of mine by selling via this outlet.

I got rid of loads about a year ago I just put them all in a large box loaded them into my boot drove down to my local HWRC & launched them into a skip, nobody wants them I don't even think the charity shops are bothered you can go into a charity shop see some CD/DVDS go back in again 6 mths later they'll still be there on the shelves gathering dust.

I wondered if anyone could recommend a place to buy books online?
I read something last week that I really enjoyed and then realised it was the first book in a series.
I have the third one but not the second.

I gave all my dvd's to the salvation army they tend to have drop off points at most shops

Abe Books is one I’ve used before… otherwise try Amazon?

I still prefer hard copy CDs, I like the sleeve notes. Put a list up CT and I’ll have a look, any thing from late 50s on, any genre. If you don’t want to put a list on here you have my email.

To be honest Tony, I think the call for SingalongaMax CDs has probably long ended!

Depends what they are as some may make you a little cash, but generally spends on how long you have to get rid. If you're in no rush, Vinted let's you sell for free I believe. Otherwise if you're in a rush to get rid, take to the charity shop

For whoever it was that suggested Max Bygraves, heaven forbid, most of them are from the 1980s & 1990s since I bought my first CD player in 1985. The oldest of them, my first CD purchase, is Be Yourself Tonight by the Eurythmics.

If you have any 3” cd’s a sort of micro cd in the 80’s they can be worth a bit as can mini discs which were for a portable mini player . Standard cd’s are not worth much but you can get a bit more for rarity’s and Japanese imports. Really depends what youve got

Prices seem to be based on rarity rather than most popular. For a top selling CD there will be loads of copies but for one obscure band with small sales you may get a lot more. Most of my CDs aren’t worth selling but some collectors editions are

Just had a look on Discogs for the Eurythmics and the cheapest price was £1:30!!! So I think the charity shop is probably the best option. Mind you the odd Northern Soul CD can go for £100.

I have many such soul/northern soul discs, which are valuable. Kent and Goldmine are the best to sell. I also have Highlander Selection by Queen (not a fan at all) on 5" CDV, which is about a Grand's worth (50 only made).

Tony - I run four charity shops in Accrington now and we sell cds and dvds at 20p and they are still popular.

I will pick yours up if you like and relieve you of some space.

Jim at Custard Cube in Accrington pays decent money but maybe phone him first because he is mainly vinyl but does deal with cds. Once bought close on 500 vinyl albums off me for very good money.

Why don't you put them into an Auction.

Astonishing Sounds on Hall Street opposite Electron buy up collections. Seems a reasonable chap when I've spoken to him. You might try there.

A dealer will give you half of the retail value at best but it's a convenient way to shift them quickly

Amazon is also an obvious one. Second hand books on there tend to be cheap but postage is a few quid.
