Number of goalscorers per club

Post by ClaretTony » Wed Jan 18, 2023 2:08 pm

Jordan Beyer was the 15th player to score a league goal for us this season when he netted the winner against Coventry, but how does this compare with other clubs numbers.

17: Sheffield United
16: West Brom
15: Burnley
14: Luton, Norwich
13: Birmingham, Swansea
12: QPR, Reading, Rotherham, Sunderland
11: Blackpool, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Stoke
10: Blackburn, Hull, Millwall, Watford
9: Bristol City, Coventry, Preston, Wigan
8: Middlesbrough

It’d be interesting to see these figures in relation to how many squad players used for each team.
I also was surprised we weren’t top by the way.

Scrolling through the seasons statistics since we first got promoted, only in 2010/11 have we had more goal scorers. A list that includes Brian Easton, Andre Bikey, John Guidetti and Nathan Delfouneso. 2014/15 was notably poor and it is no wonder we were relegated.

Year Goalscorers Squad used
22/23 15 24
21/22 14 23
20/21 12 25
19/20 11 22
18/19 12 23
17/18 11 24
16/17 14 27
15/16 13 25
14/15 7 24
13/14 12 23
12/13 13 26
11/12 12 29
10/11 18 26
09/10 13 26
08/09 15 23

There might be some signings this month that could increase our goalscorer figure but of the current squad who can realistically add to that?

Cork, Churlinov, Twine? Any others?

I referred to 18 in 2010/11 in a recent report, when we reached 14 I think and equalled last season.

Egan-Riley or McNally from a set piece perhaps? (If they get a game of course). Think McNally nearly scored at Watford

Muric 😉 from a free kick in his own penalty area up field catching out the opposition keeper 😁

Surprised we’re not top given how often it’s mentioned in interviews. Maybe it’s just because we’ve become so used to our goals coming from 4-5 players in recent seasons.

It’s nice to share the goals around, if only to make my anytime goal scorer bets more interesting!

The thing we have is multiple scorers of multiple goals. Normally just a couple of multiple scorers with the rest of the team chipping in with the odd one or two.

Jebbison scored his first for Sheff Utd so they're on 18!

If they don't go up I wouldn't mind us considering him.
