He certainly did - that was a lovely free kick as well. I didn’t expect it to be so long before I saw him take another… worth the wait!!kentonclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 11:37 pmHe was voted League One player of the year whilst at MK Dons and scored some stunning free kicks for them. Clearly a hugely popular player in the squad.

When he came on, said to my neighbour in the JHU - Destined for freekick and for him to score. Just disappointed I didn't have money on it.

Yes, free kick, hit the inside of the post and v unlucky not to score. We were right behind the post, another couple of yards out and it would have curled in.

Just got back home after a horrendous drive with the weirdest route back to Derbyshire ever - and all I wanted to say before I go to sleep was that THAT was a ‘I was there’ moment of a goal. The noise, the euphoria, everything.
Perfection.
Perfection.

So happy for him. Obviously don't know him, but seems a genuine lad who's had a hard time of it with injuries and biding his time. The story of the season so far that freekick. Genuinely buzzing for him and he'll kick on because he's an absolute talent.

Re: Scotty Twine
I’ve heard from a very good source he’s head and shoulders over anyone in dead ball situations and finishing at the club. Does it every day in training but he got injured and was suffering from home sickness. I think tonight he’s finally made a statement and the way the players and staff acted after the game shows how much he’s loved here. I’ve never been happier to see a player score a goal for us on a personal level like that. What a season this is

Re: Scotty Twine
All things considered it’s a phenomenal goal.
Barely kicked a ball in anger, huge moment in a huge game with all the crowd thinking “he’s meant to be good at these” and he had the ******** and technique to do that.
It’s truly very very special!

Re: Scotty Twine
Technically an outstanding goal, to get it up and over the wall and then down again into the top corner from such a close distance is an amazing feat.
Add in the context, three minutes to go with the scores even versus a potential promotion rival it really is some goal.
The keeper would have had to be virtually stood next to the post to save it.

Re: Scotty Twine
There are certain moments in certain seasons, when you think "yes, it's going to happen." Last one for me was Scott Arfield equalizing at Watford in the first Dyche promotion season. I was listening to it on Clarets Player (which was all we US folks had at the time). When that went it, scruffy goal as it was and though only a draw, I knew we had what it took to win promotion that season.
It feels too early in the season to say that Twine's free kick seals it, but hell's bells, sure feels like it! Who the hell can stop this team????

Re: Scotty Twine
Lord Bob I beg to differ, Scotty’s goal at Watford was a lovely precision finish fashioned out of nothing and not a scruffy goal.
Cullen’s at Stoke was “ scruffy”

Re: Scotty Twine
Apart from the free kick, which was terrific, I greatly enjoyed the link up between him and Zaroury in particular in his cameo. They seemed to swap between the 10 and left sided role and have a very innate understanding. Something I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of in what is left of the season.

Great video angle of the free kick. The up and down and speed is incredible ‘take a bow Scotty!’

Re: Scotty Twine
If there’s an injury to JBG we may well get the opportunity to see a bit more of this though you get the feeling (from his selections / use of brownhill at the head of midfield) that Kompany does like a relatively powerful, athletic midfield 3, and I can’t see him venturing too far away from that especially away from home. Intrigued to see how he develops and is used.claretspice wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 9:41 amApart from the free kick, which was terrific, I greatly enjoyed the link up between him and Zaroury in particular in his cameo. Re: Scotty Twine
Me too. Add Maatsen to the mix and it's a potent trio. Surely gets the nod at Ipswich, get some match fitness then could even start at Norwich, with Cork (and potentially JBG) still missing.claretspice wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 9:41 amApart from the free kick, which was terrific, I greatly enjoyed the link up between him and Zaroury in particular in his cameo. Re: Scotty Twine
Surely, every time he scores we just need a quick blast of Twine Time by Alvin Cash over the PA System.
Re: Scotty Twine
It's the celebration with the corner flag afterwards that worries me. That could have been painful
Re: Scotty Twine
Teams are going to be scared to death of conceding a freekick anywhere near goal when Twine is on the pitch.

Re: Scotty f’ing Twine
Not for me: The lad's looks like he might become a star, but given how long he's been out there had to be some significant health/fitness problem behind it; our squad's deep enough that we aren't forced to rush him into the side, so I don't think we should. Twenty minutes next week, a half hour the following one or two, then see from there; starting next week's not important, his being fit to start 40 games next season is what matters.

Maybe after hitting the post at Huddersfield VK told him that just wasn't good enough and that he had to practice free kicks in secret for 6 months before he would get another go. Well it certainly paid off!!!

We need to shoe horn this guy into the matchday eleven who would he replace and what position is he best at when he slid along the Turf and collided with the corner flag my heart was in my mouth and I instantly thought of that bellend Bamford injuring himself celebrating a goal and being out injured for month's

Delighted Twine finally opened his Clarets account, and what a way to bag his 1st goal at Turf Moor, a sublime FK if I've ever seen one, and many in the crowd seemed to sense it was on as soon as it was awarded, felt like it was destined to be with him having only been on for a few minutes.

Suggested tweak to improve the scan:
Mr Scott Twine is all mine, all mine,
Mr Scott Twine is all mine, all mine,
Next, how about:
He can take a free kick, he can have a dink round the wall.
Simple, no, even for the CFS crew?
