Fitted with a protective cast after coming off last night according to Dan Black (Burnley Express).

Hopefully nothing too serious.

Carried on playing didn’t he. Just gotta keep fingers crossed as that would be super unlucky a week or so after THB.

It was a dreadful challenge on benny and the pillock referee waved play on.

He took the ball clean. Benny got his ankle twisted up but no foul. How many times have we praised Mee and Tarks for identical tackles.

I was 30 yards away. He had no intention of winning the ball. Leg breaking challenge.

You could ask, and may well be asking later, did he break the leg?

Anyway, he's got two weeks before the Naaarch game, so hopefully it's just precautionary.

It doesn’t matter if the leg is broken. The tackle was a clean and fair tackle. The leg was caught underneath the player.

I’d be sad to see Benson injured, but I wouldn’t want football not to have that kind of tackle in the game.

As someone mentions above of that was Tarks/Mee we’d be all praising it.

Don’t bring facts into this. We want hearsay, conjecture and claret tinted bias.

Remember when Mee broke, (was it Gomez at Liverpool's leg?) and Klopp was having a right moan about the tackle, don't remember anyone on here having a go at Mee for the "leg breaker" tackle.

It was a good tackle that won the ball. Happened in front of us and there was nothing wrong with it.

Unfortunate one. Tough tackle but fair.

I agree he won the ball however on first view (and I haven't seen it since) I think k he was high and a little out of control.

Reminded me of that time Jayrod got sent off in his first spell where he got the top of the ball and went through the man.

I would like to see the challenge again though so I can give an opinion based on a clear view but my initial reaction was red card.

I think people are getting too soft with tackles at times.

Ben Mee was heavily criticised for challenges on Gomez or Wesley yet there was nothing wrong with either.

Would anyone say Ben Mee was a dirty player?

Not sure its unlucky. Once (THB) playing on unfit is. Second time is poor from both the player and the medical team. Also we should have kicked the ball out to enable treatment.

I don't know why Benson committed to that. It was clear he was gonna get there second and come off worst. He should have jumped.

Please tell me where I said it wasn’t a fair challenge? I thought a little reckless but I didn’t think it was unfair or malicious at all

Very similar to Ben Mee’s tackle on the Aston Villa player, albeit from a different starting position. Both good tackles; let’s not get hypocritical.

If Benson's injury does keep him out for a bit then maybe it will give an opportunity for Churlinov to get some game time and we might find out we have another gem of a player ready to take his chance

Neither boot looks to be making contact with Manuel's ankle, it's just the follow through from a very good, firm, tackle.

As said it was a good tackle. If it was the other way around we’d be saying how good it was.

I think some people forget that a player doesn’t just stop moving once the ball has been won

The shin pad issue is a point well raised.Benson's shin pad/sock arrangement doesn't offer much protection.

Totally agree. He was nowhere near able to nick it past him and even if he did he’d have run out of space and it would have run out of play.

Totally avoidable risk and bad decision on his part. Get your legs off the floor because you know if you’re planted you run the risk of getting your leg/ankle snapped when the defender is coming across that angle, obviously winning the ball and looking to get a piece of you too

It’s a good tackle but the guy knew what he was doing. Benson, Zaroury, Tella and Twine all got some rough treatment - and three of them required physio treatment as a result. Made the winning goal sweeter.

He immediately signalled to be subbed when it happened which you don’t often see. Let’s hope his gut feeling wasn’t correct.

That said, we were still chasing the game at that point which I’m sure came into the decision.

As an aside, what a treat it is to have players on the bench who can come on and genuinely make a difference to the game. This squad is just far too strong for this league.

The physios were walking with him as he was deliberately remaining on the pitch, walking along the touch line rather than stepping off to get treatment. I certainly hope one of them said “is it serious Benny, or are you effing about for the cameras?”
