Team v Ipswich

With two arrivals already and a third sounding imminent, do we see three full debuts? Benson and JBG could miss through injury. Chance for VK to give Twine a run following the highs of Friday?
BPF
Vitinho
Al-Dakhil
Ekdal
Taylor
Cork
Cullen
Churlinov
Twine
Zaroury
Foster (if he signs early this week and has a full week training)
Only issues with that team are the new partnerships thrown in, both at the back and front (for the pressing know-how).

You won't be far off. Twine has to start against L1 opposition.
Might keep Beyer in instead of 2 new CHs playing together?

I expect he'll go with Taylor or Beyer alongside AD or Ekdal.
Throwing 2 central defenders in who have not yet played for the club? In a cup game that VK will want to win, knowing we're pretty much promoted? I don't see it.

Can't disagree with that line up. Maybe JBG if fit to give Zaroury a breather, and to protect him would be my only other change.

I might be inclined to give Cullen a well earned rest and play Bastien.

Yeah don’t disagree, just seems like a perfect chance to get both involved, against a team from the division lower too.

VK will want to win this one, but will have half an eye on the Norwich game. So I see this as a game of two halves.
Starting line-up:
BPF
Roberts / Ekdal / Beyer / Taylor
Cork / Bastien / Twine
Vitinho / Barnes / Churlinov
Second half subs:
Zaroury / Foster / Tella / Egan-Riley (for Beyer)
I think Vince will want to save Brownhill, Cullen, Benson, Maatsen + sub Beyer at the earliest opportunity and to ease the new boys in slowly.

Yeah agree. He even insinuated he'll be starting when he was on the pitch pre-match vs WBA.

I want Ekdal and Beyer to play together, see how they get on as this could conceivably be the partnership for the league, at least until THB is back.

I don’t think I’d go with a too radical of a change. Al-Dakhil should have had a couple of weeks training and a good chance to integrate with the rest of the squad to start. So I’d probably go with this :
BPF
Vitinho
Al-Dakhil
Beyer
Taylor
Cullen
Cork
Twine
Tella
Churlinov
Barnes
Subs: Muric, Ekdal, Brownhill, Foster (if signed), Maatsen, Zaroury, JRod
Give Benson a rest (possibly injured anyway)
As I was typing out the subs bench I realised that I had to leave out a few others ie Roberts, Bastien, JBG (injury?). It just shows how strong a squad we have now.

With promotion just about sewn up there's no reason not to have a decent go at the cup.

Now that Vitinho and Twine are back plus the 3 latest additions, moving out Long & Lowton, we have now got a squad that is full of players that are capable of playing every game.
We could have a thread where there are 40 or 50 different permutations to play against Ipswich.
A long way off the days when it was the same 11 for months at a time.

I hope (and expect) us to play the strongest possible team to win the game, without the regard that we’re “only” playing a 3rd division side, and without worrying about “protecting” players from fatigue or injury. (It’s a full week until our next league game.)
A real opportunity to progress to the latter rounds and with us being so far ahead in the league what’s to stop us pulling out all the stops for a memorable cup run?

Especially given we're playing a League 1 side, win this and get a favourable draw in round 5 then who knows how deep we can go.
Winning breeds confidence so no reason why we can't give the cup a crack this year, and we now boost the strength in depth to balance our league campaign alongside a cup run.

We could have a serious crack at the cup if VK is confident of Promotion. A repeat of 1946/7 would be one hell of a season !!

I am with Chekhov on this one. I lived in Ipswich during the eighties when the two clubs were at opposite ends of the league and when we did climb back to being on level terms with them they always managed to put one over on us at Portman Road so this is a great opportunity to achieve a rare victory at their place.
More importantly we can extend our cup run as we have a good chance of progressing further given a decent draw.

One of the new centre halves partners Beyer or Taylor i think, we might swap the full backs and we might look after Zaroury and give Churlinov and Twine a go. Other than that full steam ahead.
Pretty sure Cork is suspended, which surprised me.

If that's the case he obviously plays and the temptation would be to rest Brownhill and Cullen for Norwich, and start Bastien alongside Cork, not least to give Bastien a chance to really establish himself.
Something like
BPF
Vitinho
Maatsen
Al Dakhil
Taylor
Cork
Bastien
Tella
Twine
Churlinov
Barnes

Nobody needs "resting". There isn't a player in this squad who needs a rest because he can't play a game every week.
There is scope for squad rotation, as Kompany does every week, but no more than the usual.

Not a question of “resting” more a question of avoiding injury - we need certain key players for the rest of the season rather than for a couple of cup games.
