Not sure what to make of it. I have huge respect for what Dyche did for Burnley FC.

This will go one way or another, there will be no middle ground with Everton. He will either sort them out and instil some respect and hard work, or the players won’t take to his methods and the fans will go ballistic to add to the sourness at the club.

Takes big balls to walk in there when it could well be your last shot at walking in to a prem job. If this doesn’t go well Dyche will have to start again in the championship, with or without Everton . Good luck, but not against us next year (perhaps)

I wish him well. It'll be interesting to see how he does though.
This season for us doesn't happen without the foundations he helped build.

I've no love of Everton and I was really looking forward to laughing my dangly bits off when they went down, but I actually think St Sean of Yorkshire Street will save them and I sincerely hope he does, for his sake.

If it’s the Sean Dyche that first joined us full of respect and a fire burning in his belly then he will do OK. If it’s the Sean Dyche that left us - full of bitterness and arrogance - no chance ! Everton will be doomed.

OK. So he's no longer manager of Burnley. But he is a hugely important - and positive - part of our history. Having watched the Clarets since 1960 and having endured years of lack of success, what he did for the club was fantastic and sarcastic put downs are really inappropriate.
All decent clarets fans should wish him the best in any new job - except when he is up against the mighty Clarets.

I wonder if there is a danger of him coming in for any of his old players?

Brownhill would be my main worry, but maybe Charlie Taylor too?

He'll struggle to afford Brownhill, Taylor might be a possibility.

Does that also mean he's now off our payroll? Even better for the club financially.

Don’t think any of the squad he had are really what he wants or needs. Saying that, if I had to choose one it probably is Taylor just on the basis that we’d probably do a deal and their left back (Mykolenko) looks absolutely shite.

I think it’s a Dyche fantasy that he has Tarky and Keane available as a centre back pairing though. Interesting to see if McNeil gets in the team as he’s been poor for them and wasn’t pulling up trees for us in his last 18 months under Dyche.

Hopefully they don’t give him a long contract that he won’t see out. Think clubs needs to look at this as a collective. Will he still be there next season ? If we come up against him I just hope he doesn’t get applauded more than our own team. It’s time he and some of our fans moved on. Having said that he gave us some great memories.

Agreed, and as much as Taylor has been a great servant overall you get the impression we wouldn’t be too sad if someone came in for him. He’s 29 and only has 18 months left too.

Good luck to him. Think he’ll be in for a tough ride with that fan base especially looking at his first few fixtures.

I think that's a bit harsh but there's an element of truth in it. He was awesome for us but we had the peak years of Dyche. Just as with players, they do lose that fire as managers too. You gain experience but maybe lose that desire and passion to be hands-on and driving everything.

Not true for all managers, Bobby Robson for example, but there's a long list of other once-inspirational managers who've just ended up going through the motions and drifting down the leagues. Look at Vincent Kompany now, you get the impression he's working 25 hours a day and obsessed with the job he has. I doubt he'll be like that 20 years from now.

Very tough. There's no real standout garbage teams in the PL this year, but a greater amount of pretty average teams, Everton one of them.

Dyche, when he first joined us, mid season, well, a large portion wanted him out that season (as he always refers to when asked about his time here).

It was only when he had the full pre season, got rid of the trouble makers and brought in his own men that we saw him, and us, go to the next level.

Being thrown into the Goodison furnace with the first two games being Arsenal at home and Liverpool away is a whole different ball game.

Having said that, I think their main core squad does suit his style of play. I can see this line up:

Pickford
Coleman Tarkowski Coady Mykolenko
Iwobi Doucore Gueye McNeil
Onana
Calvert Lewin

Will be interesting to see how it works out, I don't wish him good luck as I want to see Everton go down.

I think he will fix the issues Everton have

Unfit fringe players
Unmotivated players
Leaky Defence
A clear vision

Good luck to the guy if he keeps them up then he's done well and Keane back playing is good after it looked like he was going and hopefully we can play each other next season.

if we go up and they stay up, and they beat us home and away, it'll seem odd having our home town having a pub named after an Everton manager.

It's the most problematic job in English football at the moment.

He deserves this opportunity & if anybody can make a go of it he can.

My predictions on how this will go

Dyche is god camp

If he succeeds in keeping Everton up: "This confirms what a great manager he is"

If he fails and takes them down: "It doesn't prove anything as its the clubs fault"

Dyche is rubbish camp

If he succeeds in keeping Everton up: "Everton have great players and any idiot could keep them up"

If he fails and takes them down: "This confirms that Dyche is rubbish and Burnley was a one off"

Everyone else - "Meh"

I wish Sean all the best. Everton, not so much.

A job like this probably really suits him. No money to spend, just concentrate on getting them organised and hard to beat, which is his forte.

I can't see any way the Everton prima-donnas in the current squad will put in the effort and discipline that Sean has for formation.

Prediction, they go down this year. If they keep Sean, then they will bounce straight back up, but with a different squad.

Deserves his chance at a Big Club. I wish him all the best.

I assume he is taking his back room staff with him, so that is a big lump of money off the payroll. A big part of Claret history, thank you Sean, but tomorrow is another day.

Looking through the Everton message board they don't seem quite as vocal in praise of him as us ?

Guess it’s a bit of a free hit. Probably better than it being against one of their relegation rivals as everyone will be expecting them to lose to the league leaders.

He does have a Hell of a job on at Everton though, but out of any of the candidates in the running I think he is the only one who could save them this year - which may end up being his ultimate downfall as he wont be able to do a "reset" like VK has done with us.

I too am conflicted though, I like SD and want him to do well, but after what seems like years of Everton hiring and firing managers with SD "in the running" each time which ultimately had an effect on us I think, so for that reason I also want Everton to fail.

I am torn here. I would like to see what Sean Dyche can achieve with greater resources available and dispense with the view of him as a rigid 4 4-2 defensive minded Manager. On the other hand, i would dearly love to see Everton relegated...

I just wonder what would happen if Everton did get relegated. Will they keep SD in the great hope he brings them striaght back up? If they do get relegated then surely they will have to drastically cut costs. My best wish scenario is that they do go down but keep SD. I am sure that he will have insisted on that or a big pay off if they jettison him. One thing for sure he will better manager for them than Lampard was.

I think they won't have great resources. The new stadium costs will be bleeding them dry and hence Mr Moshiri trying to attract investors from USA.

Exactly the same for me.
I know it went sour at the end but SD did an excellent job for us overall, the Barnfield Training site is a great legacy. I also found him very likeable as a man.
Likewise would like to see Everton drop - because of the attitude of a bunch of their fans (obviously not all or even a majority).
If SD cant save them, they should have a good chance of a reboot in the Championship (if finances don't collapse).
If he does save them, he may next season get the same reward as big Sam got for getting them from the danger of relegation to 8th in the league in 2017/18.
