Crikey I didn't know he was still playing seems like a long time ago when he was with us.

Good luck to him. He’s had a rough few years.

I'll go and watch him in a few weeks (if he's playing), see how he's doing.
Exeter City aren't doing too badly these days.

That episode of Burnley history could have been handled better, by all involved. It was the first time I really questioned my belief that Brian Laws, given a fair tilt at it could be a good long term fit for the club.
Once McDonald’s pub antics had got out Laws had no option but to sack him, but I cannot help feeling it was poor man management by Laws to let it get so far.

He didn't sack him.

Going for the pedantry award? He never played for Burnley first team again.

I always thought sacked was the same as dismissed. Nothing pedantic about that.

Apart from the fact he was dismissed, from Laws mind as a player for Burnley. You can be sacked from a job without being physically sacked by the company. I don’t get your point, maybe it is me being thick.

I would consider "sacked" in this case, as having his contract terminated. It wasn't, we sent him out on loan a couple of times and let his contract run out.

Do you get off on acting like a cretin? I’ve seen you do it a few times.
No. I just don't recall McDonald being sacked, which is what you stated, but as you've now resorted to personal abuse, I'll leave it there.

I’m backing fidelcastro on this one!
Mind you I don’t want to see elwaclaret backing down, there’s pride at stake here!

I've said my piece on this one. I'm not continuing the argument.

Not happening, I’m afraid. Got a lot better things to be doing than getting worked up over nonsense posts on a message-board.
Despite, dyslexia I’m fairly good at English.

To bring this thread back on topic, Kev will always go down in Claret folklore for his double against Arsenal in the LC he was immense that night as was the whole team.
Exeter not totally out of the League 1 PO picture however they will need a good run during the rest of the season.

all this required was a response along the lines of "alright, not a technical sacking, used here as a figure of speech, but effectively one in principle in never going to appear for the first team again."

He did play again and wasn’t sacked. Itwas after Laws left that he was shunted out of the club on loans and through the door.

In that case apologies all round, thought that had been the end of him.

Excellent news. Our Big Kevin deserves a rebirth to his health halted football career. Hope he plays them all off the park.

Think my favourite memory is his late equaliser at Maine Road to get us our first Premier League away point. Two goals up but City pulled it back then took the lead only for Big Kev to make it 3-3 with about a minute to go. Think our current assistant manager scored for City that day.

I occasionally go to watch Exeter, so I shall be pleased to see him play again.
I rated him as a real prospect. Those two goals against Arsenal were marvellous.

I remember young Kevin’s performance against a young gunners side put out by Arsene in the 2008/09 League Cup, quarter finals. 2 goals from him as we won 2-0.Nicklaus Bendtner,Carlos Vela,Fran Merida and Lucas’s Fabianski, from memory.
That was followed up by an amazing 2 legged semi-final against Spurs and we were 2 minutes away from Wembley,in extra time.
Then to cap it all we won the play off’s and promotion to the PL. Somewhere we hadn’t been in 36 years.
What a season that was but sadly young Kevin managed to get no further than the sub’s bench. In all fairness, it’s not been a bad ride since then with hopefully the PL to look forward to again, next season

Our current assistant manager scored their third that day. He also scored in the return game on the Turf as did. our current manager.
