Football firsts

As it says on the tin simply post a first in football.

I'll start you off so people get the idea.

1st official international match was between Scotland and England in 1872.

1st Wembley FA Cup Final was in 1923.

Burnley's 1st PL goal was scored by Robbie Blake.

First penalty awarded was scuppered by a ball boy nicking the ball and running off ( this may need checking because it's sonething I vaguely remember reading)

The one not as many people know though is that our first prem away goal scorer was also Robbie Blake vs Ba$tards.

First match I saw was BURNLEY V ARSENAL 0-1 IN 1951
First play off final i saw Burnley win was in 2009
First League win I saw clinched the League Division 1 title was in 1960 :) :) :)

Alfred Pious Charles (11 July 1909 – 1977), Burnley Football Clubs first black player (not Les Lawrence ).But Alfy Charles who signed after playing cricket for Trinadad and Tobago in 1933. He played only one league game… by then he’d gone via Nelson to Southampton. After retirement he returned to Nelson where he died in 1977.

First league cup final was Villa v Rotherham (2 legs). Interestingly the second final was Norwich v Rochdale.

The first club to have played in the premier league, the old division 1, the three other tiers of the football league and Third Division North and South

Although they played in Division 4 they just need a season in League 2 to have played in every possible league

According to Wikipedia:

15th September 1888 - William Tait becomes the first player to score a hat trick in league football.

Tait was playing for Burnley against Bolton.

Tottenham 0 Sheffield United 0, 1964. The first professional football match I voluntarily attended (I apparently attended one at Gillingham in 1953 but I hadn't been born yet!).

They were promoted from League 2 in 2018 😉
