Me and the better half are thinking of going and would like some hotel recommendations and best areas to stay please

Do Auschwitz at the end. My wife and I couldn't talk for 3 days. Horrific, but you have to do it.

The salt mine is also a must, it's absolutely amazing tbh.

Do a search, there's been Krakow threads on here before with lots of good recommendations.

We went 5 years ago and stayed in Hotel Santi, situated pretty central to all that was on offer. Would definitely recommend it to anyone

Love it, have been loads of times.

Apparently, when they queued during the war the older people took chairs and when the Germans had processed them all the chairs were left so they have put a load of chairs in a square as a monument. It is well worth looking at as can be quite moving.

Zakopane is well worth a visit. It takes about 2 and a half hours to get there but it is beautiful. You can go up the mountain and come back down on a cable car. There are stalls at the top and a market at the bottom. If you go in winter it is covered in snow. During the week they usually stop at a house where the owner does carvings to sell. Some really nice things and weren't too expensive last time I went.

Whilst walking round, listen to where the music is coming from and find the door . There are 40 miles of tunnels underneath and there are loads of hidden bars. You only find them by following the music.

Moo Moos in the small square is the best steak place in town. It was, before covid, cheap for what you got and is really nice. If you want to watch any football the White Bull has plenty of screens and there is also a sports bar that is in a cellar.

They have, probably, the smallest gin bar in the world where you can only fit about 5 people in. Worth it if there isn't a queue and you like gin.

You can also go to the top of the church, for a small fee. Be warned though, it is quite steep, but it is a fantastic view.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I always do.

The Schindler museum had just opened a few years ago when I went. I only got to see half of it as we got there late. Not heard much about it since but I presume it is still open.

Take a guided tour round the Jewish quarter.

Been several times. Love the place. The main square is amazing. So many restaurants, with the best value just off the main square. Try what we call the 4 Zloty bar. Just north west of the main square. Dirt cheap booze. Visnoka ( cheery vodka) straight from the chiller. Wonderful place.

Do the camp at the start of your trip , always best to leave with something to be happy about your trip .

Trust me the camp will live with you for ever ................

Asks for hotels and get Nazi atrocity sites rammed at him.

A few years since I have been to this hotel but the Hotel Atruim was very nice when I did go. Was a very good price for a hotel just outside the square. Nice bar and lovely food if you have a meal there. Staff were superb.

We had booked to stay there again but Covid hit.

They also take bookings for tours so you don't have to go out to book them.

Or better still, get a hotel in the area.
Loads of cracking restaurants and it's only about a fifteen minutes walk to the square.
Plenty of trams from early morning 'til very late at night if you don't fancy walking.

Excellent location and great room / breakfast

The square is amazing- the largest in Europe. Even restaurants on there are cheap compared to UK. The restaurant that has a railway carriage outside, near the castle is excellent, great steaks, and v reasonable. All places serve fresh food, nothing bought in, try the pork anywhere. Delicious.

We stayed at the Novotel which is very central, just a few minutes walk from Wavel Castle.
Nice hotel and reasonable prices when we were there.

We stayed in an apartment in the old town, just a 2 min walk from the square. Fully modernised in an old building, with full kitchen, lovely bedroom and shower room. £50 a night for double room.

Betmanowska in the main square is a wonderful hotel.

Krakow is probably my favourite European city. I guarantee will have a fantastic time and I’m ever so slightly jealous.

I'm thinking of going later in the year. If we do a day trip to Europapark is on the agenda. It's probably the best rollercoaster destination in Europe and i'm a massive child.

Was there last weekend - what a great city.

We stayed at this hotel - about 10 min walk to the main market square and maybe 20-25 mins to Schindler Museum;

We did the Auschwitz 1 and 2 tour, Schindler Museum and Salt Mine tour.

Found all the locals to be very warm and welcoming and taxi drivers more than helpful and punctual.

We stayed at Hotel Wentzl which is in the square Depending on the time of year you go you can get the hotel for a reasonable price.

Great city, hope you enjoy it.

This ‘‘twas the bloke we used for tours - it’s the person that has all the top ratings on tripadvisor etc but his direct number so will be a bit cheaper.

Can all be arranged over WhatsApp before you get there to save hassle too.
