Denis Franchi
Denis Franchi
Injured? Or Casper just preferred to him?
If it’s the latter seems strange, came with a lot of promise, remember VK saying he was one of the top talents in Europe.

Re: Denis Franchi
Banned isn’t he? And also, coupled with that, not very good.
Re: Denis Franchi
Apparently absolutely dreadful. Even when I've watched him in warm up he doesn't look like a pro goalkeeper

Re: Denis Franchi
I wouldn't know him if I fell over him.
Mind you, I suppose he says the same about me.

Re: Denis Franchi
i have to agree from footage of U23s
However he's a young man in a new club and country, perhaps taking a while to settle in. He was with PSG so must have something about him.

Re: Denis Franchi
Glad you said that-I watched him in the warm up v Birmingham and dont think he stopped a shot in the whole session. Some on here believe that as he was at PSV that he must be good. I am open minded
Re: Denis Franchi
I’ve seen him twice. Put it this way he is not a patch on Diego Penny!!!

Re: Denis Franchi
I'm not sure what the drill was, but if it's the outfield players shooting, usually, the keeper lets them in, he is just there to make the situation more realistic and to have someone to shoot past.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 9:17 pmGlad you said that-I watched him in the warm up v Birmingham and dont think he stopped a shot in the whole session. You don't want outfield players going with their confidence affected slightly because the youth keeper was stopping all their efforts in the warm-up. It's not about him.

Re: Denis Franchi
given the fact VK has seemingly got the square root of nothing wrong so far I'm pretty confident that Franchi isn't dreadful. Not 5 minutes since BPF was shite according to some

Re: Denis Franchi
I like the notion that the lad having played for PSG has any relevance . Regardless of predicting his likely future in the game I would caution that those who espouse that playing for PSG means he must be a good ‘un have seemingly chosen to ignore that long long list of players from big clubs who simply never made it .
No opinion by the way as I’ve never seen him play.

Re: Denis Franchi
Not sure what BPF has to do with this conversation but I thought BPF should have been nowhere near our first team after that howler in pre-season against Newcastle. Never seen a professional keeper flap like that since Jensen at Barnsley (I think it was?).
I trust the coaching team and VK to know more about players than I do and support BPF as much as I support Muric (or any other keeper that we have).
All players are prone to having an off day or two.
Think it's therefore better to just trust that the players that are good enough will be known by them.
He is a young keeper and is developing - BPF is 26 so you would imagine that he is better just because of his development time over Franchi so no surprise that he is looking less rounded than the others when people see him warming up.
Casper sounds like a good prospect too.
