If Kompany was to win it would that be 3 in a row?

Bet that hasn’t happened very often

(Mark Robins won Nov)

We only played three league games in Jan
Don’t know how that compares to other nominees but might not be enough to win it - despite 9 pts

An away win to a PL club in the Cup can't do any harm.

Blimey up for awards again, at this rate Vinny will have more than Taylor Swift.

Emphatic away win as well.

How much do you think Chelsea would accept for Maatsen?

£15 million?

Could we afford to pay it?

Easy just offer him an 8 year contract.

Seriously we probably could afford to pay that, however it's a lot for a full back, and we will have other priorities to finance in the summer.

If Maatsen went home, left back would become a priority. Charlie is a great player, same as Nick is a great Keeper, but I don't think he suits our system as well as Maatsen.

We are not likely to pay anything like that for a full back, untested in the prem, where defending becomes important.

Looking back to the other night, he was left for dead more than once and looked very tired and lacking concentration. Still young and learning.

Shouldn’t we give other clubs a chance?

I'd say £15m for any of the loan players would be worth it.
It maybe slightly over the odds in some cases, but compared to some £15m for Maatson, Beyer or Tella I'd be happy with - Though I'd be very surprised in THB was sold for less than £20m

When you say left for dead, do you mean when he went up attacking as normal, but without Cullen to cover in behind?

The players they've sold for that money in the last couple of years have been players with PL experience. I think he'll be cheaper than that, unless there is a bidding war with a richer club and he wants to move elsewhere. Or of course if he wants to stay at Chelsea.

No. That is always possible. He was one on one and was turned twice at least and could not keep pace at all.

Good job he has been great every other game so we all know how good he is eh? I would sign him for 15 million be worth treble that in a few year

No issue with previous performances. However, pace in Prem is extreme. Reserve judgement and not at £15m, I am afraid. Let's hope your future valuation is correct.

Well having paid 107 million for one player alone - and more on others this last window - they're probably broke so will take any decent offer - like hell they will. But they may also find themsleves under investigation soon for their financial 'activities'.

Maatsen is terrible in the air (as is Roberts) but brilliant on the deck: value- £8m.

Here's hoping the February award follows, as that will mean we are all but promoed.

pointing to 1 poor game in a highly rotated team is incredibly unfair, especially on a thread where he's been nominated for player of the month. Instead of ''looking back to the other night'' how about you look back the last 6 months, he's come on leaps and bounds defensively and is one of our most important players.

He’s possibly the most negative ‘fan’ on the board, nobody is ever good enough

Well done to both, very much deserved.

If Maatsen was available for £15m in the summer, we should absolutely bite Chelsea’s hands off.

Yep - Maatsen and Beyer are the two we need to go all out for to keep imo.

Agreed, as intimated in my last comment.

I was merely pointing out that our player of the month has much to learn and so not a £15m player.

But you were basing it on 1 game, fair enough if you said throughout his time here. He's 20 years old, of course he's going to have things to learn, not sure that affects his price tag. His price tag will likely be based on his current level of performance and his future potential.

His value will not be determined by how poorly he played 1 game out of the season against Ipswich in a rotated team.

I agree with that too!
I was just demonstrating that this young man has some learning to do and that will have a bearing.
