Anyone else a fan?

I don't know what genre they belong to, if any.

But I did see them at Sheffield and they were brilliant.

I'd be dead if I had the same amount of drugs as David.

Thought you were talking about the Alan Bennett monologues from yesteryear. Absolutely brilliant, a master of his art and I would recommend them to any reader.

Unfortunately, I did not get get chance to see Talking Heads but I have seen David Byrne at least 4 times -Every time brave enough to try something totally different and pushing boundaries.
A guy with that amount of attention to detail does not fill his head full of rubbish.
It's all about his love of music art and exploring new rhythms for him.

They're incredible. This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) sounds like the cadence of life to me.

Superb Band
My top3 LPs
Remain the Light
Fear of Music
True Stories

... but the "Gateway" to Talking Heads is the Live and brilliant -Talking Heads – Stop Making Sense

Enjoy!!!

IMHO - Tina Weymouth on Bass really locked their sound together, every note played only added to the whole sound and she never added more notes than required. Brilliant.
Perfectly timed with a swing.

Had to smile at this thread ... we do our Friday Quiz using a Snakes and ladders board. 40 questions seperated into sections ... each section right answers are your moves on the board...

There is a corner where folk get stuck by just getting 2 questions right ... squares 16 to 18, and we always sing "They're on the road to nowhere" the record is 5 times stuck on the particular bit ...

I suppose you just have to be there to appreciate this bit 🀭🀭🀭

Opening track on the magnificent 'Fear of Music' album - I Zimbra live in 1983.
David Byrne's dancing is both mesmerising and scary in equal measure.

Once in a lifetime is one of the most original and best written songs ever.
I could still listen to it 20 times a day without getting fed up of it

The one they did with Chevy Chase when they had some little bloke in the video is my favourite. Think it was called 'Call Me Tall'

Stop Making Sense has to be one of the most best live recorded films and albums of all time. Great how it builds from the start from David on tape recorder and guitar to full band, dancers and all. Art, music cinematography at it's finest. Even if your not a fan it's still interesting.

Not now of course, but you must have seen his pupils like saucers back in the day.

Well in to the Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and dancing pharmaceuticals.

I must admit that neither had I until I started searching on YouTube for I Zimbra.
I remember watching Talking Heads on the Old Grey Whistle Test in the late 1970s playing Psycho Killer and being fascinated by Tina Weymouth looking so tiny and demure behind that huge guitar yet absolutely driving the song with that pulsating bass, still to this day one of the most captivating basslines I've ever heard. In fact, thinking about it now I'd probably never even seen a female bassist before.

Here's a link to that brilliant OGWT performance - https://youtu.be/jzIuZ-mrIL0

I remember being captivated by that OGWT performance of Psycho Killer - the bass line is mesmeric

Fear of Music the best album by some distance - I Zimbra, Life During Wartime and Cities are standout tracks

Their cover of Al Green's Take Me To The River is also superb
