Was ill according to Kompany although clearly some will still have there own agenda and think he was subbed because of the mistake.

He started limping a bit just after they scored. Wasn't surprised he came off at all.

Yep - ironically some of those shouting "get rid" are probably still lauding over the new style of play without realising/understanding Muric is actually a big cog in the wheel.

Re: Muric
There's an awful lot of Burnley players owe Muric a pint tonight because that mistake has deflected blame from an awful lot of bloody poor performances elsewhere.
His distribution may have been below his normal levels but it wasn't any worse than a good number of outfield players. What's their excuse?

People seem to be completely forgetting that Saturday was Muric’s first game in a few weeks following an injury. It’s highly likely that tonight was just a flare up of that.

Re: Muric
Prefeot, the blokes made an error. Injured or not he then got subbed.
We’re still top by miles, he is still our number one, and we got a point despite the TEAM playing poorly by their levels.
Best to move on really.

He is being asked to play a certain way. We are not used to seeing goalkeeper play that way. He made a mistake tonight but was excellent against Preston. Even Ederson does howlers from time to time.

Re: Muric
I like Muric and tonight is a blip in a young players progression. We’ve been on an unbelievable run and hardly conceded and he’s played a huge part in both.
He was awful tonight. His passing and then his misjudgement, his reaction and his positioning for the goal were well below par. However as pointed out by others he wasn’t on his own. Some outfield players made numerous awful passes, poor decisions and mistakes. So be it… we’ve taken 31pts from a possible 33 let that sink in.

Re: Muric
Agreed. Zaroury's been below his very high standards recently. His delivery tonight wasn't great and he often made the wrong decision. But all he needs to do is breathe and his song is sung loud and clear. Not a criticism, just interesting how a poorer game for Muric is perceived differently to a poorer game for Zaroury.Enola Gay wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:50 pmThere's an awful lot of Burnley players owe Muric a pint tonight because that mistake has deflected blame from an awful lot of bloody poor performances elsewhere.

Re: Muric
Apparently on Sky Kompany said the sub was due to "tactical details". So, so far we've got ill, injured and tactical, three different explanations for the sub, two of which are straight from Kompany's mouth, which basically points to Kompany doing a nudge and a wink, not wanting to insult anyone's intelligence by saying he wasn't subbed because of the first half performance (because he was), while knowing he can't actually say that it was for that reason without destroying the lad's confidence. Kompany is a clever cookie, he knows what he's doing here.

Settle down … a manager would always defend his players publicly .. can’t you contemplate that Muric made a howler and was substituted as a possibility?JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:48 pmOkay so Kompany lied then? Interesting I will go with what he said until proved otherwise personally, anyway best of luck with your pointless witch hunt.

Re: Muric
I’m calm, I don’t get wound up on message boards it serves no purpose. Yeh I can accept that he could have been substituted for the mistake but I would rather go with what the manager said though as subbing a goalie for a mistake makes very little sense well to me at least. On top of that his mistake wasn’t the only 1 in the process of the goal although it was the catalyst for it, defensively it was pretty awful after his Misskick. Can’t you contemplate it being because of illness?
Re: Muric
I don't think so. If you catch the ball you can do it with feet planted and stop quickly. If you try and kick a ball at waist height and swing your thigh at it, you can't stop the momentum.blake's wand wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:47 pmAnd get sent-off for deliberate hand ball? For man of his height it was an easy unchallenged header, and his decision to try to kick it was inexplicable. What followed was unfortunately comedic, but the error was his decision to try to execute a very difficult high kick. The danger could have been eliminated completely with better decision making. Let's hope this comes with experience.

Re: Muric
I was very non complimentary of Muric early on. His passing was one dimensional. He didn’t command his area.
Shot stopping not good.
His passing has become exemplary except for tonight.
He has started taking crosses .
Cannot comments on shot stopping as most teams don’t even get good shots off.
Tonight an the goal I thought he just did what he could and most around me thought he could catch it
Having watched it back.
He was on the edge of his box and just did what he could. He could not catch it.
His kicking was off, yes, but on the goal, don’t think he could do much more.

People probably come to conclusions like that when you say things like you'll take "any day" a keeper (Bachmann) whose goals conceded/game ratio is slightly worse that Muric.

So he comes to the edge of the box and just makes a mistake this time, no big deal.
Also, our defender fails to track their goalscorer...

Re: Muric
Bad mistake. Catch, punch batter away with 2 hands all available. Catch may have been dodgy, owing to misjudgement, so option 2 or 3.blake's wand wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:47 pmAnd get sent-off for deliberate hand ball? Re: Muric
Somebody having a laugh here (prefoot) . Presume you've not been to the match as you heard the commentary? I've just completed my 100 mile round trip to watch the Clarets and thought we battled hard against a strong team who defended deep and in numbers. Keeper came out and I had a good view of this and it was as if he wanted to cooly play a pass or deflect it out towards one of our defenders but completely misjudged the ball in and it escaped his grasp. To be fair I thought we would still clear the ball but a quick ball back in allowed their guy to stab the ball home. Mistake by keeper but so what? All the other players misplaced passes this evening and it wasnt Burnley at their best. We were fortunate in the end to get a point but these lads never say die. Kompany will make the correct decisions and I am happy that he does this rather than people on a message board. Loved his passing on Saturday but he needs to be careul about getting too cocky or casual in how he does it. Onwards and upwards please. UTC

Re: Muric
He’s been ace for 99% of this season. Give the lad a break. We are miles ahead of the pack. The whole team were “Sloppy” on occasions tonight. We can’t be perfect all the time. We have been almost perfect on several occasions this season!!
Some on here need to give their heads a serious wobble!! Remember back 12 months??? It’s not our goalkeeper that needs to “get a grip”!

Re: Muric
We've all been spoilt over the last few weeks/ months. Think some people are expecting us just to turn up and sweep away the opposition. But it's not like that, never has been and sides will continue to lose points unexpectedly and gain them in the same fashion. That is one of the attractions of sporting competition; always has been and always will remain so. No team is going to win every game, not even in Scotland.

Massive cock up tonight, we knew he had it in him, but he'd still be my choice.
To be fair it was his only mistake of the night, whilst others on the pitch made one cock up after another, yet no doubt will get nothing like the stick Muric will.

Re: Muric
I think he's been fantastic recently. If you look at the way we play and how he contributes to the build up, without him I don't think we're as far ahead in the league as we are now. I think he's that important to this team.
He did not have a good game today. That was clear to see. He did not do well at all for their goal and his passing accuracy seemed off.
However. The way Watford defended from the front today needs applauding. In that first half we did not have the time and space on the ball at the back that we usually do. They matched us by putting four up top when Muric had the ball. They also managed to press our players that were looking to receive the longer ball from Muric over their front line press. How they were able to do both is something that I cant remember another team do to us this season.
My point is I think this paralysed Muric a bit tonight. But it also highlights how vital his play has been in every other games. He should not be without criticism tonight. But he will probably take much of the blame that should be aimed at the rest of our team for not being able to adapt to Watford's tactics in that first half.
