Presumably there’s a clause in his loan that prevents him playing against us next Saturday?

I had a look on their forum last week and they were slating him.
He's been playing left back very badly apparently.

Probably because he isn't a left back.

Yes he has not been doing well for them but he must have spent best part of 10 years as a right back so their fault for not playing him to his strengths

Buy a right back, play him at left back !!!!!

Seems about right. :o

I liked Lowton, on form he was an asset to the team, but from a selfish point of view I wish he was playing, after so long we would know how to exploit his weaknesses.

I think I’d prefer if he did play.

If I hear anyone singing “one Matty Lowton” I fear I may cringe myself to death.

Never fear. It will be sandwiched in between "warnock is a wa##er"

And

"One Ronnie Jepson"

Lowton did not get a send off. It would be a good idea to applaud him at least.

I think he played on the left side of a back 3 yesterday, which is a bit bizarre.

Probably not.
I have to say I'm never happy at applauding opposition players, even ex-Clarets.

Playing him there is as stupid as Lampard playing tarks as the left CB of a back 3..

Colin playing him as a left back ? Suprised a player with lots of prem experience as a solid RB ,allied to Colin’s no frills style is being played on the “ wrong side “

If he was playing against us then I’ve no issues having a round of applause before kick off but then that’s it.

And on the subject of opposition players receiving special treatment, Grant Hanley was jeered every time he went near the ball at Norwich, something we expect when a former Blackburn player plays agains us. Yesterday Amari’i Bell was ignored.

The timing of it is weird. He is still on our books, and singing ‘one Matty lowton’ to him when he’s playing for the opposition serves no purpose. A round of applause maybe when his names read out over the tannoy (if you can hear it) but anything else is OTT

Genuinely never heard of Amari Bell.

Hanley has played for Rovers agsbst us and if I’m not mistaken has publicly stated his dislike for us.

It’s a shame that a player who gave the majority of his career to Burnley, and in our most successful period in generations, never got a send off. Sadly that is often the way with football and certainly goes for the lions share of that squad due to the regeneration that was necessary.

Polite applause next season for Mee, Tarky, Pope etc pre-match, but Lowton will likely not play against us again due to his age so will not get any appreciation as such. A shame but he will not be the first nor the last, just the way of this industry. Did a great job for us though and a true bargain at £1 million.

I don’t really get the send off thing. It’s not realistic.

He wasn’t in Kompany’s plans and he understandably wanted first team football. Without Kompany selecting him purely to get a round of applause, how would it have happened?

I can imagine the announcer now:

“Substitution for Burnley. Coming off Connor Roberts. Coming on MATTHEW LOWTON. This will be Mathew’s final game before he completes a loan move to Huddersfield. Careful there Matthew - don’t get injured or it’ll put your move in jeopardy”.

Hanley was probably a bad example given his dislike of us, but it's usually the case that any former Blackburn player gets it every time he goes near the ball. Bell played around 100 games for them, albeit since we last played them (and before this season). Not once did I hear that he'll always be one,.

I remember Dyche bringing Jensen on in stoppage time against Ipswich in final game of 2012/13.

I’m guessing the only reason he did not get booed was because hardly anybody knew he had played for Blackburn.
There will be plenty of other players that fall into the same boat too - especially those from the period when we were in PL and they were in championship.

Hanley is a full international and played for big clubs so he’s easily recognisable for our fans….especially with those distinctive good looks of his !!

As I've said, it's not just Hanley, it's anyone that's played for them that gets it. I've seen players who have played just a handful of games for them receive that treatment. Strangely, not a word on Saturday for Bell who is also an international.

I've heard of him, however I never knew he played at Rovers.

Hanley is our possibly still is Rovers captain plus he scored the Norwich winner against us in the cup a couple of seasons ago, so he's bound to be a target for the boo boys.

No I know it’s not just Hanley but there are plenty of players who have played for Blackburn in last 4 or 5 years that few of us know about and they are now with other clubs.
I can’t remember us booing the Boro centre back in their visit to the Turf in December (I might be wrong though !!).
I’d also heard of the Luton lad as he’s scored a few this season but did not have a clue he played for Blackburn….and I’m guessing that 99% of our fans who went to Luton didn’t know either

Don’t think that’s true. Certainly not anymore.

They’ve had a heap of players who don’t get anything from the Burnley fans. Kasey Palmer for example against Coventry.

Unless they’ve been prominent players for Rovers or played for them against us they are barely noticed if at all.

Think the point is made below and I’m sure if we looked at Blackburn players in last 5 years or so they would be plenty more who we have played against this season who we did not boo because we hadn’t realised they had played for them

This sums it up really. When you're in the Prem most fans don't really pay any attention to the leagues below. When we were always playing Preston in the late 90s you almost knew their players as well as ours.
