Barry Kilby PSA Testing at the Turf

The Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal are running another testing day at the Turf.

It's on Sat 25th March when we have no fixture.

I had a PSA test recently and I'm OK but I know men who won't go to the docs, I know men who have had this test through Barry's charity and it's saved their lives.

Please consider it.

Where can you get a PSA test done if you cannot make that date?

Not seen my doctor for over 5 years so think pointless asking at the surgery- unless they are supposed to provide such a service.

Just ring your doctor and tell the receptionist you want a PSA test and can she organise it for you to call in and pick up the form that you need to take to the hospital or wherever they tell you to go for a blood test. You’ll probably have to ring back your doctors surgery in about 10 days for the result.

Read a very,VERY scary article in “The Times” a week or so ago. It was written by a man in his late 50’s who had a PSA test, which was positive.
The account of his treatment to remove the cancer was frightening. Thankfully, he is now cancer free.
Having read the article, I did
a bit of Googling on Prostate Cancer UK, and NHS Uk. They told me that PSA testing isn’t foolproof, which is why there is no national screening programme. They also told me that I could request a test via my GP. I made the request, had a very helpful and informative chat with the Doctor, and booked a test for next week.
In all honesty, it couldn’t have been a lot more straightforward.
I just hope the tests are negative.
My advice - either support this excellent initiative ( I live in Cornwall, so not practical for me) or speak to your GP.
