Last night's game, which we should have won by a mile, had a terrific atmosphere with both sets of fans getting behind their team
Lots of friendly chat on the tube before and after the game A throughly enjoyable trip to the Lions Den and home before midnight ,thanks to the Elizabeth line.

Totally agree Woodley...Millwall fans were generous in their applause for us at the end. Third time I've been to the New Den never had a bad experience although £6.30 for a pint of Carlspiss in a plastic tub is pushing it

Completely different to my only other visit to the Millwall, which was the August 2001 victory where Millwall had a certain ginger centre half playing for them and was on the cover of the match day programme. That day involved bottles and bricks being thrown after Burnley fans were locked in the ground at full time and then escorted to the station. The walkway from the opposite side certainly aids the journey to and from the station and minimises the opportunity for confrontation. Most of the Millwall fans at the station and on the train were decent last night and happy to mix and chat with Burnley fans.

its good to hear of when we have a good time at away grounds with opposing fans, especially when its a club that historically have had issues with trouble.

You couldn't hear the Burnley fans on the stream, like against Luton.
Was it just the mics being too far away to pick it up? I think there's too much swearing in our song repertoire for broadcasters.

Yep, no problems going to or from the match or in the pubs and Millwall fans happy to chat. Enjoyed it.

Millwall fans to be fair were quite loud last night and i don't think it helped having the majority of the Burnley fans in the lower tier. Saturday we seemed mush louder, though that was within the confines of a stand with a low roof which always helps magnify the volume.

Apart from some fans behind me thinking it was a good idea to start singing ‘I’m forever blowing bubbles’ when asked why it was ‘just to wind Millwall up’.
I have no words.

It was a good atmosphere. I also enjoyed the Millwall fans - totally agree the muppets singing "I'm forever blowing bubbles" should have detention.

Two sets of fans singing "No one likes us, no one likes us..." Then competing for who could sing their own last line..."We are Millwall/Burnley from the north." Take your pick.
Very crowded on the train from London Bridge to South Bermondsey and again from South Bermondsey to London Bridge.
Any enjoyable night out.

I'm glad to hear things have improved since my 1st ever visit to Millwall. The Den, last game of the 1976/7 season. We lost 0-2 & the Viscount Central coach I was on (driven by the legend that was Simmy), got attacked after the match with the rear lights smashed. Luckily half a dozen of our more muscular supporters decamped and chased off the group of South London scrotes responsible.

Yeah I was on that coach too. Long, long time ago.
Programme on telly about the Millwall K troop mob had just been on the telly not long before if I remember right, fans with KKK Hoods fighting with the Old Bill during the game.......was simmy and Alan the same fella ?

Simmy is still alive ad kicking according to a friend of mine, a Scotsman, who also drove VC coaches in those days. He sees ALan Simmy now and again shopping in Tesco. I think he lives in Padiham.

I was also at the game in August 2001 and still have the program with the Ginger Nut on the front cover. As I recall Millwall had a player sent off towards the end and that a section of the Millwall fans were still fighting with police over an hour after all Burnley fans had departed. I remember boarding the train and squeezing on to a packed carriage as a group of Millwall fans raced on to the platform battering on the train doors as they closed and the train pulled out of the platform.
I am delighted that the atmosphere was for more cordial last night and that supporters from both sides enjoyed the match.

I remember many moon ago going to West Ham on VC. We got lost in London and ended up going past the Monument to the Great Fire of London. We were panicking that we would miss the kick off. Driver told us they wouldn’t start until we got there. Learned many years later that we had the skip with the players boots on the coach. Can’t imagine that happening these days !

- Endless songs accusing home fans of being pedophiles.
- Obsessively watching and filming the home fans rather Burnley corners directly in front of you at 1-1.
A bit embarrassing really. Personally, I go to football to watch football.

FCBurnley, we’re you with us on the VC coach going to WHU. I think it was in the late 60s, which got as far as the VC Whitegate garage, in snowy conditions. They decided (probably Charlie the foreman driver) it was to much of a risk travelling for the match and dropped us back at bus station. Dennis Orr and others got a train to Preston, then the London train. I’d not enough money to go with them. Seeing Dennis later he said there wasn’t any snow about 10 mile outside Burnley.

One of my first memories on the Turf was the back of my dads new coat getting slashed by some Millwall fans in the Bob Lord stand. He was bloody lucky he was wearing a really thick sheepskin…
I have friends now that support Millwall, but I still cannot anything but dislike the ‘fans’ of Millwall. All think they’re related to the Krays as well, so Charlie must have been busy.

I tmremember being kept in. Then running the gauntlet if kicks as the Millwall hollies waited in 2 lines as we passed through, so the kicks. Police not bothered.
Then as you walk off, you are on your own!

The Krays were from East London, surely related to the Richardson from South London

I was sat in the main stand to the right of the Burnley fans as I went with a couple of Millwall supporting mates.
Thought the atmosphere was a bit flat for most of the game tbh. The grumbles from home fans started as early as 5 mins in when they realised they wouldn’t get the ball off us for long spells.
Us play acting and time wasting definitely galvanised the home support, which became more vociferous as the second half went on.
On a side note, and what really stood out for me, is that there were very few families and/or kids at the game. It was just geezers. Guys that wouldn’t look out of place in a Guy Ritchie movie. And every other word was c*nt. Bit depressing in there, really.

Those VC trips down South in the late 70s were certainly an experience! For some reason we always seemed to stop at a place called Penkridge on the way home. A lad called Brian always seemed to get debagged and his trousers chucked out of the emergency exit! One of the worst trips was Swansea in 79/80 when we broke down on the way back and I walked in the house at 6 o"clock on Sunday morning - and we lost 1-2

Also enjoyed my visit.
Bar outside was good, loud music adding to the atmosphere. Although I learned that not all Brooklyn beer is good (pilsner).
Thought Millwall were quite loud, decent atmosphere. Was surprised how quiet we were tbh.
Thought it was a poor game overall, scrappy, not our best performance but could and should have won. Millwall lads on the train home seemed a good bunch, in high spirits and complementary of Burnley. LOTS of C words though as also described
Thanks to Aggi for travel advice, by the way.

"You probably touch kids"
"She's got Chylamida"
"You f**k dogs"
"Red coat is a pedo"
etc etc repeated throughout.
I'm more embarrassed by these songs than West Ham song being sung. Top of the league and all large groups of grown men wanted to sing about was touching kids? Utterly shameful.

It's hard work when you're in a small lower tier like that. Wolves is the same if you're down the side, feels too spread out to get any atmosphere going.

Do you equate singing songs about pedophiles with letting off steam? Just want to know how you like to unwind.
Probably the most heinous crime most on here can think of and countless men want sing & dance around to accusations of it.
Is that the sort of thing you think reflects the club and our fanbase well?

Again you're making the strawman that we either sing Sunday hymns or songs about pedophilia and there is nothing in between.
I'm fine with swearing, call them sh*t, call the ref a w8nker, whatever I'm not suggesting we have to be nice to everyone. But there seemed a large group of fans obsessed with singing endless songs about child sexual abuse which personally I was ashamed and embarrassed by.

It is what it is, like I say you have a choice I have a choice we all have choices, you either accept something or you don't it really is that simple there's nothing complicated about it. If I know something isn't going to change I just accept it it's not optional any other way.

You can still condemn something you might not think you can change. I can't get Russia out of Ukraine but I can still stand up and say I think it's wrong, maybe if enough people do that things will start to change.

I'm not wasting my time in life condemning things which are out of my control to me it's counter productive, I'd rather concentrate on my own affairs & be in control of my own choices, I can't stop the Russian Ukraine war so it's none of my business what happens over there, it's nice to think some things will change but it's fantasy land behaviour.
