Such a shame looks like a dislocated shoulder. Hopefully it’s not and not as bad as it looked

Get well soon Ian

Its a wait and see. If there's not a lot of ligament damage etc then it may not be too bad.

Obviously a lot worse injury for keepers..

Fingers crossed for him, luckily we have cover for that position, although not the same time of player.

Hope he's back soon but we've got the depth to deal with key players like Maatsen being sidelined.

He’s been immense lately. Absolutely gutted if that’s a long term one. Can only hope it’s not.

I was going to start a thread for him at the end of the game about how much this lad has developed in such a short space of time. He was obviously a good player before he arrived but he has come on leaps and bounds .

His tenacity in the press to win the ball back is brilliant, he’s now using his body much better in shielding the ball and turning defensive positions into instant attacks. He’s good on the ball and the way he operates in central positions is key to how we play. Hopefully he’s not out injured for too long , and hopefully we’ve got a deal lined up to make him permanent in the summer. Absolutely fantastic Ian Maatsen . Get well soon UTC

He went down with a similar injury against Millwall (clearly not as bad though) when he was pushed off the end of the pitch - I wonder if he's got a history of shoulder injuries. Fingers crossed he's back soon

They treat dislocated shoulders with great caution nowadays(assuming that's what the injury is), and quite rightly.
Heaton and Pope were both out for ages with them.

Looked in a lot of pain.

Bit shambolic that the players had to keep hurrying up the stretcher.

Looked like a dislocated shoulder or broken collarbone to me. Hopefully the former. He’ll be a huge loss for us because he’s a different class.

I hope that's not the last game we see him in a Burnley shirt.

Their number 16 got a proper run around from Maatsen, in the first half. Even when he tried to foul him, he couldn’t get near enough!

Hopefully the injury isn’t too serious and he will be back quickly.

It was a brilliant tackle but he was just overstretching tbh. Real shame and fingers crossed.

Annoyingly, it only came about because of a poor pass from Muric.

You could probably trace any injury one of our players has ever had to a turnover or possession.

Hopefully the Muric prejudice on here isn’t going to stretch to making him responsible for Maatsen’s misfortune.

I saw that on Instagram. Shows the praying emoji, suggesting he hopes he's back soon. Obviously can't read too much into it at this stage but will hopefully get an update on his injury during the week.

Big relief to see that he's OK. Hopefully, will be back soon.

I've had my share of shoulder surgery and feared the worst when he went off. Full on shoulder surgery due to ligament damage caused by a dislocation would have essentially ended his season.

Fingers crossed it’s not a long term injury, want to wish him a speedy recovery.
Maasten is absolutely vital in how we play, while Taylor is a solid option defensively, he’s not as effective as Maatsen going forward.

VK comments a bit more mixed:

"It's a little bit of a downer on the afternoon. If his shoulder is dislocated then it will take some time before he comes back, but if we're lucky and it wasn't completely dislocated then he might be back soon.

“We'll do all the proper due diligence, get him through the scans, but it's an unlucky injury, like what happened with Taylor Harwood-Bellis and other players. You don't really control them. At the end of it we'll count ourselves lucky if it's not too bad."

I wasn’t criticising Muric, simply saying that it’s annoying that Maatsen’s injury came about because of a poor pass.

I thought that he had a decent game.

At the time Muric gave that ball away all our players were having a lazy 10 minutes so it wasn’t just Muric. We just got complacent, and these things happen when a side is not fully at it for a bit of the game.

Hope he is back soon as it would be a shame if he misses out on the celebrations.

The players tweet was after the managers comments so let's hope so.

Maybe he'd had further tests since the managers comments hence the positive tweet.

Charlie's still good going forward, especially against a team of Fleetwood's calibre - no disrespect intended but....

Just seen it back and Maatsen was precariously close that dangerous pitchside perimiter when the incident happened and I think this played some part in Maatsen getting injured
