why can they not sell all the empty seats? also seats being used for extra segregation, is their really any need, clubs have much smaller segregation.
all over social media people asking to buy tickets in this stand, shame the club don’t fill it

Perhaps the punishment for such loons is to re seat them in the far end of the Bob Lord. Blanket and all!

All the seats are sold, the problem is teenagers moving about the stand to stand next to there mates. At the back there's a group of about 15 next to us squeezed in to 5 seats and stood on the steps.
Stewards tried checking tickets one game but they only sent two so they gave up

I wondered if this was the case.

Whenever I see the highlights afterwards, there’s loads of empty seats at the front, which gives the impression we haven’t sold out.

The problems with the CFS are not so much to do with fan behaviour, drug abuse and hooliganism as some would have you believe but more to prevent overcrowding with one exit only and a packed concourse.More people could potentially increase any risk to unacceptable levels.Also yesterday queues to the CFS were ridiculous with fans still streaming in 10-15 minutes after kick off. Security is all well and good but was it really necessary for a steward to stop me to ask if I was a home supporter when I was wearing BFC merchandise from head to toe.Exiting the stand is slow too and more often than not hundreds are still stuck inside when the rest of the stadium is empty and credit to the fans for their patience in leaving orderly. I understand this is all part of the great CGS experience but please more tickets sold would not be the best idea.

Fans streaming into all stands after kick off is mostly due to leaving pubs etc at 2.45 and expecting to walk straight in. This is despite not being able to for the past 9 years

Was thinking exactly this yesterday, looking at a packed to the rafters Turf Moor then 100`s of empty seats in CFS!
Other teams massive rivals play each other, eg Arsenal/Tottenham, and the fans are separated by a couple of empty seats and line of stewards.
Guess part of the problem at the Turf is it`s concentrated by people not sitting in allocated seats and behaving as in the pictures above

Queues were marginally longer than normal yesterday to get in. Can't compin too much because we normally leave it late anyway.
Not sure what the hold up was, heard a steward on the pat down complain to another 'we can't do anything if they don't get them through' pointing at the turnstile

Fans have 1 entrance/exit only. This reduces available home capacity considerably. Sharing the stand as we do reduces safe capacity of the entire stand hence why hundreds of empty seats are visible. Exactly where people sit either in their own seat or with friends is irrelevant. The behaviour in the narrow segregation line is actually no better or worse than most stadia.The only way to solve all these issues is to allocate the entire stand to either home or away fans only.Obviously this would create a whole new set of issues and would be a backwards step in my opinion. Without being argumentative I would love anyone who has never been in the CFS in the last 8 years to give it a try one matchday.I am no yob and never have been and would recommend it to anyone.

don’t think they are all sold, sure last season you get a ticket as a walk on.

exactly, other clubs deal with a much smaller seg!

I went in the Jimmy Mac Upper (not sure it's the family stand anymore) The bar areas were as bad as the Cricketfield stand yesterday at halftime. Luckily they have more toilet blocks, but all the kiosk queues were right back against the wall.
Making it a fight to get through the crowds.

Very much think the issue will be people not sitting in allocated seats.

I don’t think the club appreciates the importance of the CFS to the club and Matchday atmosphere though. We need a ticket exchange in place asap - every fan counts in there. Then get rid of that stupid netting and get the absolute maximum in there.

Never ceases to amaze me that they choose to turn 90 degrees to the most beautiful football I’ve seen us play since I started watching in 1974 and instead goad oppo fans. Don’t they realize what they’re missing? They might never see this again in their lifetime

We often see them flashing V's and goading away fans sat on their
coaches waiting to go home after the game on Harry Potts Way. A lot
of them are of an age that they should know better, especially when some have
young children in tow.

Now they’ve extended the gap between fans following the Blackpool trouble, there’s no need to have those 2-3 columns of seats covered up. The fans are nowhere near each other.

They’ve also raised the height of the central barrier in the home section which now prevents our fans climbing over easily and rushing the away fans. So that’s another 70-80 seats the club could sell.

We were just the same back in the 70s goading away fans on the Longside! The CFS is fantastic and this 59 year old loves the atmosphere being generated. Our beloved manager has asked that the fans make the Turf as hostile as possible and although I don’t expect the Bob Lorders to rise to the challenge thank god the other three sides of the ground are making an effort. We used to get drowned out when we allowed 4000 away fans in the CFS but those days are long gone.

Anyone would think football hasn’t always been like this.You might be better suited to watching badminton or something of that ilk.

From what I've seen post match I'm pretty sure the manager and the players appreciate what the CFS fans bring to the matchday experience.

Unless you can explain why they would need to cover those two columns of seats when fans are no longer anywhere near each other, then perhaps it’s an oversight having previously decided not to sell them? I’m sure you’ll explain the full reasoning for maintaining the cover though.

Likewise, I am also no yob but sit (stand) in the CFS. It is the best seat I have had at Turf Moor. I stand with my son and daughter and there is a marvelous group of people around us. The atmosphere is always positive and there is no one whinging and moaning. I have noticed on this thread that some people seem to think that everyone in there is a neanderthal. Like you say, more people should give it a try, if they can get a seat that is!!

Call the cricket field stand all you want but for them the atmosphere would be non existent-I don’t sit there but even after ten wins in a row the long side-bee hole and bob lord hardly mumor.it be a shocking atmosphere I couldn’t care how old they are and how much stick and v signs they give the away fans but for them1500 hardy souls the atmosphere would be terrible.

As I entered the JHL yesterday I noticed the security checks going on outside the CFS. I thought at the time (about 14:40) there's no way they're all gonna be in for the kick off.

I take it you’ve never sat on a coach outside an away ground and been goaded by the home supporters, it’s not unique to Burnley y’know.

Why do they need to do that, it's a good hight barrier with a massive gap between the two sets of fans and a big presence of stewards and Police, my season ticket is right next to that netting infact by the look of that picture it was taken from the row infront of mine, it's ridiculous there is about 80/100 empty seats for every game the netting stops nothing other than extra revenue

I don't sit in there but If a few home fans are enjoying goading and winding up the away fans, who are also doing the same back then leave them to it, they are having a ball.
Match day experience is different for everyone, generally it is all a bit pantomime but also helps create a great (and an intimidating), atmosphere. Leave them to it and enjoy your match day experience in your own way.

Exactly, everyone is different, as long as they don't break the law.

Pre all seater stadiums, everyone knew their place and where they wanted to stand or sit, this worked perfectly. Once all seaters were introduced then fans expecting/wanting different things from their match experience were mixed in together, this is still a big factor at away games.

Surely, there must be a way to redesign the back end, to provide internal space and speedier exit? A lot cheaper than a new stand.

That’s true enough.

But the fact we have that extended segregation area, netting before it (probably taking out 200 seats or something) suggests to me that the powers that be don’t.

All the H&S rubbish should not be allowed to take precedence over what’s in the clubs best interests.

Kompany wrote a whole dissertation on making the most of home advantage and talks regularly about it. Little things like that make a difference.

Nor do I but they are absolutely vital to this football club and the atmosphere at TM.

To be fair, the Longside often sing but rarely without the CFS starting it. Never much from the Beehole or BL.

After the game you see the players waiting to clap an empty BL and Beehole, partly full Longside and a packed/bouncing CFS. No wonder they appreciate them so much!

The fans don't necessarily stay longer by choice.It really does take an age to empty the CFS.I find it worthwhile to hang back and enjoy the interaction between the team and fans.Maybe this unintentionally prevents overcrowding when leaving but it's great to see regardless. Even Neil Warnock got in on the act on Saturday and received plenty of applause.
