Bring on City

Not the draw we wanted but it’s another fantastic acid test for the players to see what they’ll be up against next season. A full away end at the Etihad celebrating a team that’s gone further than any other Clarets have gone for 20 years in this cup and a straight shootout for Wembley.
Let’s not be beaten before a ball has been kicked here. UTC.

We'll compete in midfield and give them a few problems going forward, but our young defence up against their barsteward forward players will be made mincemeat of.

It feels impossible, but so did Stamford Bridge in 2008.
As improbable as it seems, if we win this game it will be one for the ages. We will be at Wembley AND be in with a genuine shout of actually winning the thing.

It’ll be interesting to see how we approach the game for sure. We are used to having most possession and this game will likely be very different.

If we try and play like we do we will get battered, if we sit back and try to do a Fleetwood we will get battered.
Think this is a bridge too far. Shame.

Yeah, bring it on! We fear nobody. One thing is for sure - we will give it our best shot and this is all that counts. We won't turn up playing with everyone behind the ball while hoping that Vydra can latch onto something.

Meanwhile, just concentrate on the job in hand........... Promotion at record points will do for me.

Yes, it will be interesting. It won't be a tussle as per Luton & Millwall, it won't be possession in defence as per usual.
Hopefully Benson will be back and our wide men can show their worth.

We've not had Taylor Harwood-Bellis in the team since Bournemouth. He couldn't play against his parent club, City. So, we've had several weeks to develop Ekdal and Al-Dakhil playing alongside Jordan Beyer. Better than just having to leave out THB for the one cup game.
Vincent's old boys v Vincent's new boys will be a great game to watch.

Ekdal to stick one on Haaland and Barnesy to shithouse Ake
2-0 Burnley

Play a B team at Hull.
Go Strong at Citeh.
Need Barnes in full "Barnes Mode".
Some one on De Bruyne... Cullen?

Vinny's (and Bellamy's to a lesser extent) receptions will be exceptional I am sure. Vinny is loved by City fans and for good reasons. It will be class day out.

To win the cup you have to beat the best along the way and City have had a few wobbles this season so let's hope for another one which will surely be live on the BBC. UTC

I think it’s an absolutely poxy draw. It’s a big occasion for the media and City to fawn over the returning idol. Our presence will be almost inconsequential. We’re just delivering him to the arena.
A good draw would‘ve been against a team without billions pumped into it, to at least let you dream a little of a trip to Wembley, and watch a competitive match in the process. Now that would be a great occasion, a great quarter-final. This is definitely not that. This is playing a bit part in whatever circus City want to make of it before they give us a drubbing.
I’m naffed off with it to say the least. These opportunities don’t come around too often for the likes of us.

Next season in the premier league With this team and the way we play I think we pick up more points from the team's around us but will take some heavy big loses to the top team's compared to how we set up under Dyche unfortunately and this will show in the city game in my opinion

It's the worst draw possible. Hardly any chance of going through, a ground everybody has been to loads before and the away end is crap. When you look at some of the other teams left we had a genuine chance of getting to the semis.

Jeeezus!! Get a grip lads. This is perfect - Vinny is gonna be fired up to put one over on Pep. If nothing else, it will be a good marker for where we might be next year, but Vinny ain't thinking about that - he's thinking about how he can beat Pep. This is going to be awesome.
Would love us to stuff 'em, and I think we just might.

Trying to be positive about the draw after the initial disappointment...
- chance to show what we are about in front of a large BBC audience
- we will take the game to them, won't be like other plodding Dyche performances there
- players (and manager) will be buzzing for it, especially the newer ones, all live in close vicinity to the Etihad
- cupsets do happen, look at Grimsby last night (!)
- still 90 mins from Wembley

We’ve had a couple of ‘easy’ draws and now it’s time to face real competition. Full strength team, play with passion and determination, and maybe we will take a huge scalp. Isn’t that what the FA Cup is about?

It’s a shocking draw.
We won’t lay a glove, just like we didn’t against a reforming Manchester United side. It’s no criticism, just the stark reality how how much better the big boys are.

Look at it this way , we would have probably had to play them in a semi or final. So travel tickets - overnight. Saving everyone close to £500 or more as this game is just down the road , with a minimal outlay of £100. Apologies to the clarets diaspora who may actually have had it the other way

I think this is a great draw. Its a free hit as they say and something the players have deserved for the season they have had. I'm sure they will give a very good account of themselves.

They’ll get their chance next season. That was the worst possible draw imaginable with regards to getting to the Semi Final.

Why exactly would that happen? It’s one game and when it’s over it’s business as usual. It’s this kind of Dyche thinking that has made cup runs unthinkable for the last ten years.

Certainly not the draw I'd have wanted, I only hope we give them a game at least, and if nothing else bag a goal or two.
Considering we could have been paired with Grimsby, Rovers or Sheff Utd it does feel rather meh for me.
And the whole draw is a bit meh really.
City-Burnley, we've played at the Etihad so often now it's lost it's sparkle.
Utd-Fulham, another home draw for Utd amazing how often they come out of the hat first.
Brighton-Grimsby, Grimsby beat 5 teams from higher divisions, then get somewhat of a boring draw at the ultimate plastic club, and they probably won't be able to take their famous haddock's.
Sheff Utd-Blackburn, both could well field under strength sides due to promotion being their main priority..

One thing is for sure. Regarding the world stage - far more people will watch us play Citeh in this QF than they would if we had drawn Fulham, Brighton, Grimsby or Sheffield United. Aye, we might stand a better chance of getting through to the semi-finals with one of those teams, but it's far from a forgone conclusion.
Anyroad, I feel we have a chance against Citeh, and we'll certainly give them a game. One thing is for sure, we'll be taking more than we did in January 2019 - when the only real chance we had fell to Vydra - who hit the corner flag. In fact, we will easily sell out our allocation.
Also, if we hadn't been in the EPL for all those years - we'd be relishing this tie, not crying like some of those on t'other thread. UTC!

People saying they would have preferred Grimsby, etc should reflect on the fact that we only just
scraped past a ten-man Fleetwood side.
It's a great draw.
