When the youngsters of this stand want tickets for away games they moan that it’s unfair that older people with more points get priority. Why then did the majority not turn up last night? You’ll never have enough points if you consistently miss cup games unlike the ones with the points who turn up for most if not all the games! Points make prizes and to get points you need to turn up

I’m a ST holder in the CFS but thought I’d go in the Longside Upper for a change for last nights game, safe to say I think I’ll stick to the CFS felt weird having to sit down at a match!

It has been suggested to the Club by Burnley FC Supporters Group that for these types to games, offering say 50 or 100 loyalty points would improve the gate but the suggestion fell on deaf ears. No thinking out of the box!

That sounds like a logical idea Leisure and would help the younger or newer fans to build up their points profile

Most was probably on, you could not get your own seat straight away in that stand so people picked different stands

Atmosphere was really bad last night. I wrote about it on the Player Ratings thread. Just a really strange vibe. Anyone trying to get some sort of atmosphere going was looked at as if they were an alien in a Rovers shirt. I know if you pay your money... etc etc. But just on your phone for ninety minutes moaning about the cold and tutting whenever anyone has the temerity to get a little "Come On Burnley" started... I just don't get it.

I was in NU4 last night, taking advantage of the regular ST holders not being in their good seats. I wanted to show my teenagers the better view of the game.
They hated it, we had a few next to us try to get a bit of an atmosphere going, but like you say the regulars in there hated it.
It's a viewing gallery in there, not the longside.

On another note, the fans in the CF get treated shabbily by the club. Of that there is no doubt.

Sounds like we were in a similar area last night. I may have been one of those trying to get something going. I was in the CFS for a long time but since it went to season ticket only, I've had to go into the Longside Upper. It's usually pretty good up there to be honest but cup games and some midweek games have been poor.

Without the cfs therd be zero atmosphere

And agree with those complimenting the CFS. Without it, I reckon you could hear busses pulling into the bus station from your seat.

I've not been in the CFS since about '89. But it's easily the best thing to happen to the atmosphere on the Turf since the 'new' stands. I honestly don't care if the lads in there spend 90 minutes goading away fans, standing in the stairways or taking low quality recreational drugs.. it provides a decent matchday vibe for middle aged men like me, sitting down watching the football.

We should be given the full CFS and put away fans in bottom of Jimmy mac.

CFS was a bit low on numbers last night. Most of the game attendees were supporting the team. Goading kicked in when we scored. For me the CFS is the only place to go. Similar atmosphere to that at away games.

That’s a terrible suggestion. The reason the Cricket Field Stand works and the atmosphere is so good is that you have two sets of fans side by side goading each other and trying to be louder. The low roof and enclose design of the stands aides that for both sets of fans.

Hope that’s right MACCA and that AP has plans to develop that.

As per the OP, the CFS is so critical to the atmosphere. Last night illustrated that, although it being a cup game with a lower attendance generally and a nervy game against resolute opposition will’ve also played its part.

Would love to see that stand given rail seating for next season and also a couple of rows added at the front. Imagine that would add another couple of hundred to the capacity. Every voice counts in there.

I also swopped from CFS to Longside upper last night. Much improved view but the atmosphere was terrible.

I would have thought that watching a Burnley side playing some of the best football in a generation for £15 or less was incentive enough last night.

I was thinking maybe they simply chose to sit elsewhere for a change rather than not show up.

I have a season ticket in the CFS. I will be 70 later this year. The atmosphere in there is generally electric and I doubt there is 10% of the drug use that people allege. Even when I have joined friends up at the back very few seem drug influenced. Anarchic, half-pi**ed, antagonistic, enthusiastic - definitely.

As for the song speeds, it is what it is. You can't applaud the enthusiasm then say, "but ..."!

JHU is not normally as bad. It was full of non-regulars last night and they weren't exactly up for joining in. A lot looked like it was a first game and unsure what to do. Basically, telly fans.

Thought Huddersfield was tricky because there was zero jeopardy. PNE a bit like that. Basically, they were that shite that it was difficult to do anything other than gawp at how incredible we are. The JHU has turned up when needed more frequently this season. Also been noticeable that the family stand has been a bit lively at times.

Loving the new songs from the Cricket Field. Could do with bouncing songs between stands more maybe.

Some of the crap you read on here is mindblowing. People getting their knickers in a twist because not all the season ticket holders showed up for a Wednesday night cup game that kicked off at 7:30 and suggestions that cup games should be worth double/triple the points.

I live in Newcastle, have a season ticket and travel weekly for games. There wasn't a chance I'd be able to finish work and make it for kick off. Yet some morons on here live a stones throw away and think they are uber supporters for having attended.

Agree about the Longside Upper though, more atmosphere in the Bob Lord these days.

Another season ticket holder for the CFS, have been for several years now. Went back in the Longside last night where I used to go, didn't find the view as good as CFS and atmosphere was flat.
I don't take drugs, I like a beer and a sing at football, the CFS is just a concentration of like minded people who like the atmosphere like that. It's good fun.
As Leisure says, give 100 points out for attending and would have been much fuller last night.

CFS regulars who went int longside, it isn't normally that bad.

Was a crap atmos all round really

About the same mixture of adults to kids in all the stands.
People that had good seats years ago with young ones, never gave them up when the kids got older.

Pathetic that this is a thread again-don’t sit in the cricket field but the fans in there have improved the atmosphere so much.All they get called is the coke brigade etc it’s a young crowd in the main in there so I would suggest there is a bit of that going on but not as much as you think especially on a Saturday afternoon. But believe me the people who are calling them the coke brigade etc, I can bet your own sons and daughters are on it no matter how wealthy are middle/high class you are. That’s a good point but you gotta remember that a sizeable majority of “ singers” / teens etc moved to the CFS thus draining the Longside a bit . The CFS lot do a fine job but it’s often an odd isolated sound and the ground only truly rocks when the noise ripples down the Longside .
