Looking to book a holiday I know threads have been on about where to visit in the past so could anybody give me advice on resorts or the best to stay.Also looking to go for 10 or 11 days would that be enough time or too long? Many thanks in advance

I was there last year. A beautiful country. Anywhere on the Bay of KOTOR is beautiful. Kotor, itself, Budva too. Good bus service. We spent two weeks travelling round. Flew to Dubrovnik then buses. Herceg Nova, Sveti Stefan. Really enjoyed it.

Haven't been to Montenegro yet but great part of the world to travel round. Been to North Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Bulgaria and Hungary.

It's a lovely place. Stayed in Budva, which is basically it's tourist resort on the coast. The Old Town there is beautiful and a day trip out to Kotor is definitely worth it.

We did 5 days in Kotor before moving onto Dubrovnik and Split, Kotor was fantastic. Day trip rafting the Tara river on the Montenegro - Bosnia border was great.

As well as the places already mentioned above, would add Perast to the must see list. Porto Montenegro @ Tivat to see how the other half live.
Buses are dirt cheap, take one to Sveti Stefan & walk back to Budva via Przno and Becici. The local coastal bus route between Kotor and Tivat through Prcanj is also a must do for the scenery and the picturesque tiny harbours along the route.
Kotor old town can get quite busy when the cruise ship crowd are in town but is another must see.Would use Kotor or Tivat as a base and take day trips by bus to Herceg Novi, Perast, Budva & Sveti Stefan.
In 10 or 11 days you could go further afield. Depends on if it's a sightseeing or beach holiday. If you fly to Tivat and it's a day flight back, you will get fantastic views all along the coast from the Bay of Kotor to Dubrovnik and beyond.
Airbnbs from about £25 a night if you book flights & digs seperately. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely week in Tivat a few years ago. Very convenient from the airport.

Personally I would break the trip up so you have a few nights in Montenegro and a few in Dubrovnik or Cavtat (one is busy and one is quiet)

Perast was a beauty and a nice quiet spot with a day trip to Kotor instead of staying there. We stayed in the Hotel Conte. The fish restaurant Djardin serve a brilliant lobster platter. Then the viewpoint up over Kotor was brilliant.

We also did a fly drive up to the north into the mountains and that was lovely, some real remote spots, staying in B and Bs. Up at the national park at Pitomine is superb.

Always wanted to visit.

No. Tivat.

Couple of more out of the way places definitely worth visiting are
1. Zbaljek …. Small town in the north which has a ski resort type feel up in the mountains. From there you can also visit the Tara Canyon which is great for rafting.
2. Virpazar …. Brilliant little place on the shore of Lake Skadar in the South East of the country. Great for a trip on the lake and the place called Ethno Lodge AB on booking.com was the best place we stayed in the whole of Montenegro.

Oh and if you go for 10 or 11 days you can do a pretty good tour of the country …I’d go Kotor for say 3 or 4 days then head up to Zbaljek , taking in the Ostrog monastery carved into a mountainside on the way up. Couple of days up there including the Tara Canyon then down to Virpazar for 2 nights before finishing up with sone time on the coast at Bar and/or Budva.

Kotor is beautiful - very relaxing atmosphere but can get very busy if/when a cruise liner pulls into town.

Thank you for all input.I have booked accomodation in the old town in Budva.Managed to get a flight to Tivat airport with a 40 min transfer rather than Dubronvvik with a 4hour transfer.looking forward and will take on board places that have been mentioned to visit

Prob too far to go up to Zbaljek and the Tara Canyon then but it’s not too far to go to Virazpar and Lake Skadar for a day out and do not miss Kotor whatever you do. Budva is the place that is most like a typical Mediterranean resort town and certainly the old town is nice.
