the decision to fire Richardson felt bizarre at the team and it's cost them this season

They were on a downhill slide at the time but just over two weeks after they'd given him a new three year deal was beyond bizarre.

It’s worth pointing out, as a follow on to randomclaret’s post, that Wigan released this post midnight.

The German defender wasn’t at Burnley when we won at Wigan; he arrived five days later on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach and made his debut as a substitute in the 21-21 draw at Preston

I'm surprised we didn't send him straight back after that sort of debut.

I'd take 2-0 again.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m happy THB isn’t ready. He’s not the future, Ekdal is and hopefully so is Beyer. Al dakhil looks a talent too so I think we are there or thereabouts at the back and when THB goes back we won’t be missing him.

We mullered ‘em at their place, I’m expecting today to be a little tighter, but a Burnley win for me all the same. Last 20 will be pivotal again I think after they’ve spent 70 working hard to keep with us.

I’d love to see THB back. Top player.

I'll just be happy with the 3 points however they come.

Win today will take us to the 80 point mark, and within touching distance of promotion.

I'd be more than happy with 4 points from the next 2, then after the City game the lads will enjoy a welcome break to allow any niggles to recover before the final stretch of games.

Same here. With Josh being out and when THB is fit, I'd be thinking about trying Bayer in the Cork role in front of the back 4. Gets THB in the team and I have a hunch that Bayer would be superb in that role. Anyway it's a position we need to sort for the PL.

I think it will be far tighter than many may think based on current league positions. I feel it's a game where we might seriously miss our master locksmith Benson in the last 15 minutes, as although we have other lock pickers, he's definitely the best.

Got to wonder what someone has been watching this season to think otherwise

Yes agree.
Thankfully with the players who have come in, not really missed.
Would be great for him to be available again at least.

As good as THB is who are you dropping for him?

A fully fit THB is first choice - he would play alongside Beyer for me without any doubt at all.

THB, Bayer and Ekdel are that good that our set up needs tweaking a bit. Plus 3 six foot defenders can only be a good thing, especially against SU.

Me too. I’m still hopeful we make it permanent in the summer. I saw some City podcasters suggest they might be willing to let him go with a buy back clause, as they’re already stacked with 4 there. I think THB has a really high ceiling and one we could make a big profit on down the line.

Me three. THB and Beyer our best centre half pairing this season. Would be an easy decision in my mind at least.

Hadn't even considered a permanent signing but wondered whether we might get him back on loan given we'll have moved up to the Premier League

Possibly although his contract expires the summer after so they’d want him to sign a new deal first. I think these days City are using their academy sales to help balance their own incomings for FFP purposes (putting their investigation aside). They seem to sell for a nominal fee but agree a buy back fee, in case the player becomes great.

They sold Romeo Lavia to Southampton in the summer (12m ish) who’s done brilliantly, and the suggestion is they could resign him for 40m in the summer.

Either way - I'd love THB to be lining up for us next season
