Tella - £25 M would do it
Maatsen - Not sure they will sell
Beyer - £15 M would probably do it.

We can sign all three
Saints will go down and need to cut costs. Ditto Chelsea and we already have a deal in place for Beyer

We will sign them all. Massive clauses in the fee we pay. My guess is … tella 15 million with huge add ons if we stay up season by season. Beyer 8 million , matsaan 10 million

Assuming, as it seems increasingly likely, Southampton are relegated and need to cut costs, what’s to stop other clubs coming in for Tella or have we an option to buy?

There’s nothing stopping them but the player might have a preference to stay with us thanks to the manager, play style, relationship he’s built with his teammates, plus the fact he’s having his best season ever. Oh, and because we’re brilliantSuratclaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 4:37 amAssuming, as it seems increasingly likely, Southampton are relegated and need to cut costs, what’s to stop other clubs coming in for Tella or have we an option to buy?

I'm not too bothered about Maatsen. I think defensively he'd get ripped to shreds in the Prem. Maybe a loan if possible.

Don’t think we need to buy Maatsen. If he’s not going to play at Chelsea, we’re a great loan option for another season.
He’s still only 21.

The way we play, you forget how young most of these players are.agreenwood wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 7:20 amDon’t think we need to buy Maatsen. If he’s not going to play at Chelsea, we’re a great loan option for another season.

After so many years of having one of the oldest team/squad oldest teams in the league it makes a refreshing change

Beyer and Tella are must buys
Maatsen - maybe, if the price is right.

I think Maatsen has found a home here at Burnley. I think he could be developed into a Premier League Player at Turf Moor.

Chelsea will not be playing Ian Maatsen. They have Ben Chilwell and Cucurella in that position who cost a combined £110m. Chelsea’s strategy for navigating FFP will be like Man City - get youngsters out for big loan fees and then big sales fees. I think we have a chance here but it’ll cost around £15m I would expect. Loan would also be great if possible but I bet they want a sale in case he proves not up to the Premier League? This might be the top time to sell in their mind.
Beyer seems a formality.
Assuming Southampton go down (and I do assume that), he will want out. He’s earned the right to play in this division and can force that issue with the club. I am confident on him too but I think we’ll need to again match or possibly break our transfer record for him.

Tella and Beyer are must haves, but Tella will be on the radar of richer “low/mid” prem clubs than ours .Maatsen at the right price as though he’s a quality player , defensively he can be all over the shop.

I guess a lot depends on budgets.
It’s possible that trying to buy Beyer, Tella & Maatsen could see most of the kitty used. That’d mean we go into next season with the same squad we have this season and I think we definitely need a new central midfielder and striker.
It’s a conundrum.

I suspect we will buy Beyer and Tella whilst loaning THB and Maatsen again.
Regardless I love the sense of panic on some (not many) posters minds that appears to be based on us struggling next season because we are too good this season

Maatsen could stay at Chelsea if they decide to cash in on Chilwell

The reputation VK has earned himself this season and his brand of football should see us able to get better quality loan players in also.
I prefer permanent signings but it hasn’t worked out too badly this term so I’ll leave it to the man.

Maatsen's contract at Chelsea ends summer 2024, there is no prospect of another loan unless he signs a new deal there.

Sure I read somewhere that Chelsea will offer him a new contract and then loan him out again
Like THB, you'd think a loan to us in the prem suits everyone
Then we've just got to get Beyer and Tella, a CM and a striker

Loan THB and Maatsen. Benefits everyone. Sign Beyer and Tella. Tella may prefer to stay here for a number of reasons. Just because he’s done well with us in the Championship doesn’t mean he will there. Then we need to focus on some real quality in central midfield. That is where we may have to spend some money.
