Got to get him back next season

Quotes this week sounded like he wants that to happen.
This board had almost forgotten about him and Ekdal was the 'new Tony Adams', a couple of average games and Ekdal is no longer the saviour in some peoples eyes.
The more quality players we have the better we'll be.

You talk about "this board" as though it's a universal voice. I doubt very many people had forgotten about THB at all.

In my opinion he’s our best defender and I hope he comes back next season.
That being said we have four fantastic Centre backs at the moment. All a little different but all more than capable of playing and performing at this current level and (hopefully) the one above.

THB, Beyer, Ekdal, Al Dakhil and McNally are all excellent central defenders. We are blessed. Let’s enjoy them!

No, I talk about 'this board' because that's where we are now. Some of the people on 'this board' think it is the fountain of all knowledge regarding our great club.
I believe our best pairing is THB and Beyer but Ekdal has been excellent and think Al-Dakhil will be a tremendous player given time and experience.

Add Bobby Thomas and Egan Riley to the list and we have got some real strength and depth there.

If we could get him for a sensible price, and if City would be willing to sell him, then I'd be over the moon if we could bring him in permanently

I think if the fee is anywhere near acceptable and realistically it shouldn't be too high then it has to be a deal worth doing. Only going to increase
in value (barring injuries). It'll come down to how sure City feel he is going to feature regularly for them in the near future.

I think there's a real chance of this. I have nothing to base it on at all, but just some of the stuff THB has said recently (particularly the quotes mentioned on here from him when he was comms with Bird recently) and his clear love for his loan spell show he might be amenable to it. I reckon City would deal if it was on the basis of a pre-agreed buy back being included.

City can be dealt with reasonably with Kompany's connections, whether it is another loan or a permanent signing I am very confident he will be a Burnley player next season.

I just don't see Pep giving him the game time

If we could secure THB whether on loan again, or even better permanently that would be a great start to the window,
Difficult as it is to pick our best CB pairing I'd probably plump for Beyer/THB if forced to choose, mainly down to their forward runs and range of passing to start our attacks.

I'd agree. I think it's the same for Ian at Chelsea. Deals to be done on both counts.

It's not difficult at all. THB and Beyer all day long. With THB and Muric passing skills we can beat the press and have the threat of Beyer doing it by running through.

Makes it all the more important that we sign both this summer.
Beyer I'd expect us to be able to complete without too much fuss, however Harwood-Bellis might be a tougher one to get over the line, although even another season long loan dela would suffice for now if City are agreeable, 2 advantages that might help that prospect are Kompany's City connections, and the fact the THB has played plenty of minutes this season, plus the player himself sounds like he'd like to stay at Burnley.

I’ve raved about Ekdal since he first came ,and up until last weekend thought he should play instead of THB ,and although it was only a U21 match after watching the calmness ,and the way he moved the ball about THB has to partner Beyer asap ,then it’s up to Vince to keep Ekdal happy ,I problem that we’ve never appeared to have over the last few years.

If THBs not staying next season (and we must have a fair idea by now) stick with developing Ekdal. It’s just logic…

Apologies if this is on another post somewhere. There is a short interview with Taylor Harwood-Bellis in this months fourfourtwo magazine.
Answer to the final question is encouraging.
What do you expect to happen next season?
TBH - There’s not been much talk about next year. We want to get over the line first. I’m not focusing on anything other than winning promotion and being champions. I’ll discuss the plan with City and Burnley, but if someone said to me, “You’re going to go back to Burnley in the Premier League next season”, that would excite me. I’ve grown such a big connection with the club and the fans, I just love it here.

Whilst not disputing it… the atmosphere that area of the ground creates is a vast improvement on the years where there were no home fans in there.

His mid range diags to wingers have been missing from our attacking play. He fizzes them across and they are much flatter than the other CBs manage. He's an excellent player along with the rest of the signings in that area this season. If I had to pick just one, I'd take Beyer. Not sure if we can get both CBs and Tella.

You actually need to stop. Normal decent people sit in that stand professionals with high paying jobs who have never taken drugs in their life, they dont sing fast they chant at a pace that chants are supposed to be sung at high tempo to increase player adrenaline. The players appreciate them because they are the literal 12th man that serve a purpose instead of sitting in the bob lord stand with a blanket on all game moaning and groaning and contributing absolutely zero top the matchday environment. Yes there are some bad apples but the elitism that some such as yourself exhibit is extremely ironic and entertaining considering how the vast majority of the fanbase views YOU.

Totally agree. I'm a professional, my son has a highly skilled job and we love it in there.
It reminds me of how the longside used to be when I was a young lad growing up.
There's a few bad eggs in there, no different than any other stand, in any football ground across the country.

Exactly mate I know so many legitimate genuine good human beings who sit in there and do the gods work every single matchday producing atmosphere and then I watch as 70 something sit on this platform and slag them off all day for absolutely nothing if they knew anything they would no cocaine isnt even the snorting drug off choice in uk society at the moment it actually ketamine and that's primarily what individuals take on matchdays the ignorance off some individuals is genuinely shocking. Either way THB is a beast love him and would be more than happy to see him here again next season.

Really promising noises he's been making recently. Clearly loves it here. And according to player ratings he is still making a few footy accounts' Team of the Season - amazing really given how long he's been out for.
Almost expecting to see him here next season now. City will put a buy back clause like they've done with the lads they sold to Saints in the summer, I'm sure. When you look at their centre backs and ages - Ake, Akanji and Laporte are all experienced internationals in their peak and Dias still has his best days ahead of him. They are favourites to sign Gvardiol as well, who's the most coveted young defender in the world currently.
Wouldn't surprise me if THB is surplus at the right price. Our gain.

the way City do business we could suddenly announce we've signed him on a 5 year deal with a buy back clause. That would save a loan spot and help THB develop under Kompany for a few years before Kompany takes him to City !

I know the cynical thing to say is 'players always say the right things in interviews' and if another club offers £x more a week that's where he'll be off.
However, I do think with the culture and atmosphere Kompany is developing and the camaraderie this group of players seem to have, I genuinely think players like Maatsen and THB will actively push for moves to be part of 'the project'. Particularly when their remaining options are likely to be sat on the bench at their parent club (if they're lucky), another loan or a transfer to a lower level prem team.
As others have said, deals with sell-ons and buy-back clauses are more likely to bring these players into our budget. Just make sure we don't agree to any free loans if we get relegated!

Be good if we get him, loan or signed as a BFC player, I definitely thought he was very good and thought we'd miss him much more than we did thanks' to some super recruiting in Jan. Be interesting for me to see if he now comes straight back into his place, or will he have to wait his turn given the excellent job Ekdal has done. The bigger question for next year though is if City decides he needs to stay around the first team regarding the next development step for him. If that happens, do we go for a replacement or say we have enough on the books for the first half of the season and spend on more important areas such as CM's!
