Does anyone know how far away this is from being lifted?

Re: Transfer embargo
As long as it's sorted before the summer window that's all that really matters.

Re: Transfer embargo
Technically it doesn't matter whether it's lifted by then or not as the PL does not recognise an EFL embargo. However, the last team that failed to clear it when they got promoted had their punishment more than doubled after they were relegated back to the EFL.
Re: Transfer embargo
it does matter it is an embarrassment to be under an embargo.

Re: Transfer embargo
It’s an EFL ban why are people bothered? We went up in 08/09 with one and nobody batted an eyelid then.

Re: Transfer embargo
Doubt we will learn anything for a month, with the club buying time from its last statement/announcement

Re: Transfer embargo
That is just wrong, and I have seen it repeated a number of times now across a number of platforms- it has been true in the past (Leicester, QPR, Bournemouth etc) but has been different for a few years now - EFL changed their own rules to align with the Premier League so that such sanctions could be passed through, it works in reverse for relegated teams to.bfcmik wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 4:13 pmTechnically it doesn't matter whether it's lifted by then or not as the PL does not recognise an EFL embargo. All this was explained on the original embargo thread - even Kieran Maguire has said the embargo could be passed through if the issue is not resolved
All this just shows how much is misunderstood about how the game and the regulations that operate around it have evolved and are still evolving - there are quite a number of changes that are coming down the line for next season that are going to affect the way clubs operate and all this is before we have an independent regulator of football.

Re: Transfer embargo
But you read what Chester has written and it definitely does matter. For me, if it drags on to anywhere near the end of the season, questions will be asked. If the auditors can't sign the accounts off in a few months from now you have to wonder why? I'm hoping it will be soon sorted that's for sure.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:16 pmBarely anybody outside of the football club gives a flying.
Plus, it will stop all the thick, non-Burnley fans saying we have cheated and broke FFP rules

Re: Transfer embargo
I'm guessing the answer to this could be 'millions of reasons'.. but for those who know about this stuff, why would an auditor be reluctant to sign off accounts?

Re: Transfer embargo
it wont drag on past april though as the club have stated and Kompany reiterated Kompany an individual who the club would not dare lie to and to put it simply who is not an idiot. He came here because our board gave him a vision and he trusted them for once after everything they have done for this clubs reputation, TRUST THE BOARD.Goodclaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:30 pmBut you read what Chester has written and it definitely does matter. Re: Transfer embargo
theirs no evidence to suggest they are its just a manufactured narrative that may or may not be true. But for clarity likelyhood would be skewiff numbers e.g. an assets value being misrepresented.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:36 pmI'm guessing the answer to this could be 'millions of reasons'.. but for those who know about this stuff, why would an auditor be reluctant to sign off accounts?
Re: Transfer embargo
I just hope the loan players that they hope to keep, aren’t being kept in the dark,I don’t think Vincent Kompany would be too pleased with the board if there were problems come May.

Off the top of my head, with no inside knowledge, main guesses would be the intercompany loan that was used to buy the club and whether it should be impaired or some similar matter related to the group structure.
Or, and this wouldn't surprise me, some form of delay in the AML/KYC checks meaning everything just got off to a late start.
Or something entirely different.
Re: Transfer embargo
Just posted on the agents’ fees thread then saw this: could it also be that the new auditors have concerns about how payments for agents fees have been structured over a number of years? Who knows, it’s all speculative, and I guess we’ll find out in due course.aggi wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 5:25 pmMillions of reasons...

Re: Transfer embargo
It's possible but I'd be surprised if that was the case. It's an area that's a bit of a judgement call so long as the club can justify their stance (which is likely).Dingo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 7:19 pmJust posted on the agents’ fees thread then saw this: could it also be that the new auditors have concerns about how payments for agents fees have been structured over a number of years? Re: Transfer embargo
Just noticed that Huddersfield town are no longer under transfer embargo
https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/embargoes/
I have not seen their accounts released yet - but obviously the EFL are now happy as they run through the takeover process

Also reports Huddersfield's accounts filing at Companies House has been put back to end of June.
