What do you think. Would Celtic have pipped us to the Championship this season with their current squad? The past 10 years or so I think the Championship top teams and SPL top teams have been rather even.

This year is probably the best Championship team in ages, and the best SPL team in ages.

Not sure, Celtic and Rangers tend to do reasonably well in Europe, the league they play in isn't a good league though

btw, does anyone know how CJ Egan-Riley is getting on up there ?

As much as it pains me to say it, I think at this moment in time Celtic have a stronger team than us.

It would be a good game I feel as both sides would want to attack.

Over a season, undoubtedly.
Head to head, anything could happen.

Rangers got to the Europa League final last year and probably aren't as strong as Celtic are this year. Couldn't see us doing that.

Rangers also had abysmal results in Europe recently. Celtic too.

They probably would yes.
The TV deal there is skewed in favour of Celtic/Rangers so that's enabled them to dominate their top flight for decades.

Dump them in a competitive league and they'd soon suffer 2nd season syndrome once everyone wised up to them.

Talking Celtic, I came across this on FB today. Might be of interest to some.

We struggled to get past Aberdeen when we were in our pomp. Celtic usually finish miles ahead of them.

We've had some cracking Keepers great end of JHs career to finish with Celtic.

We are better than Celtic in every sense.Horrible club.

In our pomp? The teams put out for qualifying were not full strength.
Under VK, our present squad - the one the OP refers to - would finish higher than Celtic whatever the League.

Always best to judge sides on cup competitions I find.

Talk of Burnley in the Europa League makes me shudder. All that potential following a superb season, totally fizzled out. Was really disappointing. Flew all the way to Istanbul to see Jon Walters on the wing. Big blemish on Dyche's time at Burnley.

No fair enough. It was a different squad but we’d just finished 7th.

Celtic the season before didn’t lose to City in two champions league games. VK has just got humped by them.

Under Dyche we were awful in cup games because the team were clueless going forward, we couldn't break a team down for toffee. We'd lose to Accy/Burton/Lincoln and utter tripe on the regular because they would sit deep, then in the PL we'd park the bus and cling on for our life.

This VK side destroys any non league team, we'd have beat that Lincoln team 5-0 at home with full strength. Fleetwood are League One and didn't even get a kick of the ball. Our strongest possible 11 lost at home to Huddersfield the previous year.

I think this Kompany side breezes through that Europa League qualifying run too, we were frankly an embarrassment to the PL going to ET with Aberdeen. The side he put out in Greece was a sackable offence imo, the performance was a disgrace too.

We are much better than Celtic, rangers would even struggle to make mid table in the championship currently.

The reference to our Europa league performance is down to Doughball Dyche not wanting to even be involved in the competition, ( like every cup )

The current Celtic team would be the perfect opponent for us to breeze through they play so open and are slow at the back.

They get away with it in the league because their players are a cut above for the SPL which is a very poor league
