Today's footie 2/4
Big WSL game just kicked off as Arsenal host City.
Ross County-Celtic the Scottish offering.
Hammers-Saints 2PM
Toon-Utd 4.30PM
One a key relegation scrap.
The other could go some way to deciding who finishes in the top 4.
Bolton-Plymouth in the EFL Trophy Final.
Should be plenty of ex Clarets on view today.
City 1-0 up after 5 minutes.

Ings start for West Ham, Cornet on the bench as he continues his injury comeback.

What's happened to Maxwell down there?
He seems to have just melted away.
Ah.
Just seen. He's on the bench.

It possibly won't shock you he's been injured for much of the season.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 1:08 pmWhat's happened to Maxwell down there?

Didn’t even realise Plymouth Bolton was on till walking in to the pub by Baker Street station. Lively afternoon, can they both lose?

Not to mention our women are playing in a top of the table clash at Forest in 20 minutes.
Re: Today's footie 2/4
They think they found the problem to why he keeps getting injured. He has had an operation to fix it so, hopefully, he should be ok now.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 1:08 pmWhat's happened to Maxwell down there?

Pressure will be on Moyes if Saints grab the points today. On the other hand, WHU can do themselves a favour with a win like Palace and Bournemouth did yesterday.

Re: Today's footie 2/4
I fancy Ings to score against one of his ex-clubs (I suspect he has a good record of that).
I think WHU will win and climb a few places. If not- Moyes will be in (even more) serious trouble, especially if it's a loss as WHU would then be rock bottom.
I'd like to see Toon beat Man United to make that 3rd/4th/5th battle even closer.
Not fussed about Bolton v Plymouth but think Plymouth will win.

West Ham look very nervous. Either that or they are rank bad.

Is this a 'nobody wants to lose' game that really needs a goal?

Oh how very novel. A women's branch of the game dominated by the same old crew operating exactly as they did to corrupt and pollute the mens game.
Wouldn't watch it if it was on my back lawn.... (that's not level either BTW)

Reason 500 why I hate var. What the heck are they doing here taking this long? It’s a complete farce.

Hammers goal finally stands after a long VAR check, they really need to speed this process up.
Arsenal come from behind to throw the title race wide open, just 4 points splitting the 4 contenders now.

Three and a half minute VAR delay on that goal. Peter Bankes on VAR duty.

Wouldn't be worried about either of these two next season.
Mind you, one or maybe both of em might be in the Championship.

Re: Today's footie 2/4
Around 75,000 fans expected at Wembley so we remain in 2nd place for the highest attendance for this final with 80,841 which was beaten by Portsmouth v Sunderland in 2019 which had 85,021.
Though our final was at the old Wembley, not sure what the max attendance was for that stadium, pretty sure it is 90,000 for the new Wembley.

Re: Today's footie 2/4
VAR hold up was three & a half minutes, just three minutes added at the end of the half. These referees can’t get the simple things correct.

Re: Today's footie 2/4
I was watching the end of the Huddersfield v Middlesbrough game yesterday and 6 minutes were added at the end. The camera went onto Carrick who was asking the 4th official about the time added on, the official talked Carrick through a piece of paper in his hand showing the stoppages, Carrick just laughed at him and walked away.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 2:47 pmVAR hold up was three & a half minutes, just three minutes added at the end of the half. Is it next season we shall be seeing added time like at the World Cup?

Re: Today's footie 2/4
The scorer is definitely onside. The 3 offside players are all occupying defenders and all are in the keepers line of sight - so he’ll be aware that there are 3 places he can’t parry the ball.claretburns wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 2:41 pmBut neither of the 3 players scored, so goal correctly given.
Basically WHU are gaining an advantage through the players being offside so it should be ruled out - which it was until the VAR muppets got involved

Re: Today's footie 2/4
None of the players were in the keepers line of sight and the keeper was no where near the ball, so I don't understand the argument about him parrying it as he didn't touch it anyway.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 3:11 pmThe scorer is definitely onside. Plymouth coming back into the game and just hit the post. Though Bolton on the counter are very dangerous, especially down their right hand side.

Should be 3-0 to Bolton, Dempsey clean through on goal, hits it straight at the keeper from around 16/17 yards out.

On a traditional front. Why are Plymouth playing in their change kit? Their proper colours don’t clash, green shirts, white sleeves and white shorts
I love my team to play in its traditional colours whenever possible.

Re: Today's footie 2/4
Sounds like it's been all Newcastle looking at the stats.
Man Utd striker Wout Weghorst had just seven touches of the ball in that first half.
Wout ineffective again I'm afraid to say.
