Not sure if it's been posted somewhere but VK was at Brondby v VIborg yesterday. My mate (who is Danish) says he was watching Brondby goalie Mads Hermansen.

Interesting. He's been linked with Everton, Fulham, Bournemouth, Napoli and PSV in recent times.

Certainly appears that we’re looking for a new number 1 next season.

I wish they'd compile a video of goals conceded. I think it would tell me more about the player.

I'd expect him to be our new number 2, to provide decent competition for Muric.

Sounds like you have decided that Aro isn’t good enough…🤔

Agree with Funky ,how many goals would he have let in if there had been someone like Greaves,or Lineker waiting for rebounds.

Yes, I thought that too. Likes diving to his left!

Maybe we’ve accepted that we’ve been priced out of a move for Bart.

This isn’t a dig at Dyche, but love that Kompany takes an active role in the scouting of players. After years of being told that European networks weren’t in place, he just jumps on a plane to Denmark to scout for himself.

To be fair, Dyche must've had his own parking space at Keele services.

That seems to be Kompany’s thinking given the calibre of keeper we’re being linked with. These guys won’t come to sit on the bench.

Right Bart Verbuggen we wanted before muric and would always be here to compete for number 1 and this "link" is for the moment weak sauce as there has been no and I mean no news outlets or any suggestion anywhere that Kompany has been to Brondby Muric is more than good enough to remain our number 1 and to solidify this among his doubters Muric still has a very, very good chance of winning golden glove.

no-one knows how active SD was in that area - but if we look at what he had to say on the topic he was actively involved in the recruitment side from his arrival - he didn't always get the support he wanted and certainly appeared to be more fixated on single options - but the support systems he talked about for wider operations would have included personal relationships and networks in these territories which neither he or the club had.

It is telling that the club had long been aware of the likes of Cornet and WW but Dyche would not have sanctioned either move without extensive research, ALK just went ahead without that all being in place, and in the WW situation took advantage of a particular situation due to the players stance on Covid vaccination.

VK has brought an awful lot of those connections with him, both in terms of the backroom team and his personal connections but also via the services of organisations like MUD Analytics and the people that are involved in it. In that sense the club's information networks have leaped ahead of what could have been achieved with the more organic development that was being put in place previously

Dyche had the Stoke City 2008/2009 season review DVD.

Have I made this up in my mind, or when Bruce Grobbelaar was at his peak did he not used to keep hold of a lot of the shots he dived for? I seemed to recalled him diving for top corner balls and actually holding onto them? Other keepers were probably similar?

These days even the shots which seem tame, and often quite close to keepers, they don’t like to hold them and instead prefer to palm them away or punch them.

My recollection is that most keepers in British football kept hold of the ball at that time

Yes, I get that, but I'm thinking that VK has brought Muric in for a reason, and I think that the main reason is his superb ability to operate as another outfield player.

I suppose the counter argument for next season would be we'd need an actual keeper as opposed to a sweeper.

Mine too. I remember it looking odd when they tried to parry it rather than catch it. And many of them didn’t wear gloves either! I guess the ball didn’t move in the air anywhere near as much as it does now

If he was looking at him he’ll have come away impressed

He put in a MOTM performance with a goal and an assist

So I wasn't wrong then. At the time of my post no one had posted any evidence to suggest the claims were true in response someone posted evidence here however what I will note is that the evidence suggest he was not scouting a goalkeeper but rather a striker sooooooooooooooo.

The tweet was already out there before your claim.

Our goalkeeping coach is literally sat next to him.

Having read your comment and later watching the clip I'm not surprised he didn't hold on to many. 90% of the shots were rockets, some closer than 5 yards away.

Mail article re. this:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footb ... eeper.html

Interesting comment from Thomas Gravesen at the end:

‘I believe that he [Kompany] can see a playing goalkeeper in Mads Hermansen. A goalkeeper who plays like Ederson and Alisson who comes out of his goal and be an outfield player with his team.’

Sounds like the right profile for what we want in a keeper...
