The final 8 games

Now that promotion is all but confirmed it's important that we don't relent and see out the season in convincing fashion as there is plenty still to play for.
Title naturally.
Continue our unbeaten streak and pass the 23 under Sean.
Go unbeaten all season at home.
100 points not impossible by any means, especially if we pick up 4 or 6 in our next 2 games.
100 goals this is probably beyond us now, but we can give it a right good go.
20 different goal scorers, no idea who might pop up to complete the 20 though.
Break Reading's 106 points, unlikely now to say the least, however we did reel off 10 successive wins earlier in the campaign so if we get on another roll anything is possible.
Win at Ewood- this would be sweet. particularly if they were to miss out on a place-off place on the final day.
Key thing is maintain our professional approach to every game, as although our future will have been decided others are battling for points for various reasons.
Ideally we'll be able to come through injury free, but there's never any guarantees about that I'm afraid.
I certainly can't see Bellamy and Kompany allowing any slackening as it's not in their nature.
As others have commentated it's almost a shame this glorious season has to end, however the rewards for all the hard work will be a swift return to the top table.

Certainly going to be an interesting run in with, as you note many things to play for still, obviously promotion & title being the top ones. I think the last run of results has seen to many draws for us to make several of the other targets, mainly the record points, 100 points and 100 goals.
However, this weekends two games will provide a clearer picture, keep hoping but probably two of the hardest games we could have wished for, will tell a tale, for me after the title, the unbeaten at home all season is what I'd like to see most.

Whilst I'd get over it, I'd be a bit disappointed if we didn't win the title from here.

Tbh not losing at Ewood and keeping up our unbeaten run against them would be enough both, although a win would be great.
And the title obviously, not winning the league from here would be a bummer

I was really keen on runs and breaking records earlier on in the season, now that the points total looks beyond us once promotion and then the title is wrapped up it’s about next season. That means keeping some sort of momentum going but also integrating players a bit more, like foster and looking at players to see if they’re good enough to be staying or going.

Get caught by Sheff U and Boro, get to Wembley, and smash bstards in final; laughing at their inability to sell more than 2000 tickets.
What's the odds on that ?

Surprised that some people think beating Rovers is more important than winning the title. Disliking your rivals is all good but rather than winning trophies? Really?

I think if I had to choose I'd find it difficult not to choose a win at Ewood over winning the league, to keep the stretch going. I know that sounds mad and it is mad but I just can't help it. We'll win there and win the league anyway though so no decision to be made.

Each to his own but that’s not me. If we could have won the league with 120 points and lost twice to Rovers I’d take it. Hating your rivals to such an extent is elevating them to a degree they don’t deserve.
By the way the way Rovers are playing winning there is not a given. My son in law said there is basically no one playing now that played in that game at the Turf.

Need over three goals per game on average to get to 100. Unfortunately when games at the end of the season tend to be played under more pressure and they become tighter then it's pretty much out of the question. Shame really.
Would have been nice to get 100 points and 100 goals.

Not disagreeing here, but I don’t remember who won the championship last season or the ones before- but I certainly remember every goal we scored against Rovers.
PS - I’d of taken 10th at the start of the season, 100 points is my revised target- I’d love us to smash through that barrier.

Loads of things wrong with this statement.
We don't want to get to get caught by any team .
We may not smash B&st*rds in final. They beat Leicester away, convincingly.
And, if they only sold 2000 tickets for a final at Wembley then i would give you a million quid.
P.,S.
Why would you even think that they wouldn't sell more than 2000 tickets.
Sometimes, I question that world that I live in...

Some weird comments on this thread. I can remember (or know of) every trophy the Clarets have won in over 100 years but I can’t tell you the score of the last 5 games against Rovers.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to beat them and we will, but the main priority is obviously the title. Not least because that lot would hate us winning it

That’s the spirit. I can’t help feeling this intense hatred by some with regard to Rovers is a bit obsessive. Disliking them as a rival is fine and natural but when people start suggesting that beating Rovers is more important than winning stuff it smacks of jealousy in some way. I know of Rovers fans who find it quite funny that some of our fans hate them so much. They actually laugh at it.
I don’t like them and I love it when we beat them, hate it when we lose, but if it means beating them rather than being successful then I’ll take success any day. Best insult you can give them is treat them as unimportant.

A good post houseboy, and given the choice between besting Rovers twice or winning the league I'd always opt for the latter, of course there is every chance we'll be able to enjoy both in this amazing season.

Perfection for me would be
- Finish as Champions
- Beat 'Boro (I have a good friend who supports them)
- Beat the B******s

Win the league. That's the only thing I'm bothered about. It would be a real shame to drop off in the last 8 games... not that I think we will.
Obviously it would be nice to beat Rovers again but I wouldn't be concerned if we draw against them. We just need to keep the unbeaten run going.
Win 4 (Reading, Rotherham, QPR and Cardiff), draw 4 (Boro, Sheff U, Rovers, Bristol City) would mean Champions with 100 points. I'd happily take that if anyone's offering!
