The lads were brilliant tonight considering the circumstances and added pressure - final game of the day, televised, playing a good team, in form, away from home etc etc etc....

However, I will (try to) remain objective

Muric 9 - won everything with great shot stopping, distribution & sweeping whilst under a lot of pressure
Maatsen 5 - the only player that had an off game, some great passes going forward but seemed very nervous and played us into danger a lot with poor touches or giving the ball away
Al-Dakhil 7
Beyer 8
Roberts 8 - +1 for goal
Cullen 9* Just excellent. Was absolutely everywhere, battling, super intelligent player... probably the player of the season?
Brownhill 7
JBG 8 - Took up some really clever positions in transition, really helped with our counter-attacking

Don’t do player ratings.

Maatsen, not always been a fan of him, seen a 4. Really? A few poor passes , yes. Boro’s only attacking option was to hit long balls in his direction, he won most of them, stood up for himself well.

I like a drink with the rest of them, and last night was a time to indulge, but anyone giving Muric more than 5 must have started very early, and missed him failing to catch easy balls into the box, and his unusually poor passing . I give him a point for the couple of high crosses he claimed near the end

Muric 8 did well, especially considering something looked wrong
Roberts 9 he has been phenomenal since the WC
Al Dakhil 8 think this guy will be very good
Beyer 9 what a player - never looks rattled
Maatsen 7 couple of poor passes but decent
Cullen 9 ridiculously good
JBG 8 played well
Brownhill 7 ok
Zaroury 8 looked more like it tonight
Tella 9 fantastic, frightening speed
Barnes 9 very good

Vitinho 7 did ok, great having such a utility man

A fine night.

Muric - 7 - finally turned into Nick Pope tonight: commanding his area imperiously, but oddly uncertain wiry his feet. Boro never really extended him beyond those crosses.

Roberts - 8 - fitting that one of this seasons true unsung heroes should get the winner. Defended and used the ball well (one odd back pass aside) and he's increasingly shown through the season that he has a goalscorers knack.

Mastsen - 6 - dodgy 20 minutes when he lost his head and Boro certainly targeted him, but generally OK.

Al Dakhil - 8 - couple of nervy first half moments but grew into the game hugely impressively and showed his pace and raw understanding of the game a number of times.

Beyer - 8 - much like Al Dakhil but we've come to expect it.

Cullen - 8 - a bit unlucky, if clumsy, for the penalty, and occasionally exposed as Boro pressed us high, but overall another really tidy night's work.

Brownhill- 8 - an assist, should probably have won a penalty, prompted the second goal, and generally his dynamism was essential to getting us the right to play.

JBG - 8 - really solid night's work with a couple of wicked balls in.

Zaroury- 8 - lovely bit of skill to open up the pitch for the first goal and generally neat and tidy until booted out of the game.

Tella - 9 - an incredible, self less performance full of team work and indefatigable running. Deserved his assist, and the only blemish was that he didn't score when one v one. It says everything that it was such a surprise he missed.

Barnes - 9 - if this is goodbye then what a way to say it. Colossal at both ends of the pitch, linked the game admirably, and thoroughly deserved his goal.

Vitinho- 6 - although it worked this always felt so slightly surprising substitution and he was pretty ineffective, beyond providing a little more defensive support for Mastsen.

Cork - not on long enough but showed bundles if class whilst he was on the pitch.

Good game this against tough opponents - but we shaded it and looked the most complete side. We were if anything unlucky not to be further ahead at half time and whilst we had to weather a storm after the (somewhat debatable) penalty, once we re-established our rhythm we were comfortable amd ran out worthy winners.

Which is sort of fitting because it sums up the season. Tested periodically but the best team by yards in the end. What a time to be alive, what an achievement.

Absolutely dying this morning with no voice and totally knackered but I'll give it a go

Muric 8 - one of his best games of the season, commanded his area well and distribution was fine
Maatsen 6 - certainly not great defensively at times
Al Dakhil 7 - looked nervous at the start but really grew into it, looks a hell of a player
Beyer 8 - has to be first priority to sign, just brilliant again
Roberts 8 - great goal from someone who has been an absolute success story this season
Cullen 9* - everywhere, and completely integral to how we play, so good 2nd half at just ensuring we stayed well on top
Brownhill 8 - links so well with Cullen and his energy is such an asset
JBG 8 - steady away, his ability to find space was excellent
Tella 8 - worked his socks off, though he should either score or go down there
Barnes 8 - if you want a swansong, then this is the way to do it
Zaroury 7 - got targeted and booted out of the game but stuck to it

Vitinhio 6 - helped see out the game
Cork 7 - as above, but with a lot more composure

What a superb way to win promotion, and it just highlights how good we have been this season that we just looked too good for Boro and they really had no answer to us

Did Muric actually have a save to make?
Commanded his area...apart from the one in the first half he completely messed up
Distribution was not not up to normal levels

So what did he do to get 8 9 and 10s ?

Not sure he did completely mess it up… granted it wasn’t clean but he made the decision to scoop it away given how it bounced… and it went away from danger, that’s fine in my books. Other than that he dominated his area + outside the box and passing was decent. He got a +1 from me for the Cruyff turn in his 6 yard box when he sent Akpom for an ice cream.

Well that was some night. Thought it was going to be one of those odd ones when both teams decided to line up in the same half but that didn’t faze us. Boro are one of the better sides in this league but, such was our control of the game, the only way they really looked like scoring was through a gift from us or the referee and they got the latter. One of the plethora of great things about this team is that our way of seeing a game out is to stick Vitinho on and tell him to hug the touchline playing right on the last man so they always have something to think about at the back.

Cruyff - 8 handled very well under pressure bar one spilled cross. A few risky balls but that's the game we play.

Roberts 9 - form hasn't let up since the world cup, knows the position inside out now and it's no surprise he's bagging goals

Al-Dakhil 7 - defensively he was superb; strong, cool under pressure and has a decent turn of pace. Passing was a bit off at times and nearly got us in trouble but this lad is a real talent.

Beyer 8 - excited to see what he's like in the PL

Maatsen 7 clearly struggling with either cramp or something from about 60 mins and it told, but before that he was great, so many high balls targeted at him and he won them all with ease

Cullen 9 metronome.

Brownhill 9 literally everywhere. Waaaayy better than when he stays out wide. These two dominated the midfield battles.

Zaroury 7 a touch out of form but this was better than recent games, playing his way back in

Tella 9 the work he does off the ball often goes unnoticed as his on the ball stuff is so eye catching. Both were top drawer last night, despite the miss

Barnes 9 a true striker's goal. Never stopped running all night, bigged up his teammates and bollocked them as required. He's been so important to this season and it will be sad, but probably right, to see him go.

Vitinho 7 did exactly what was required

7 promotions I've seen now, 4 to the Premier league and they all feel as great as the last. This is a special team for a special club.

From tv and after watching the whole match again this morning. I can’t understand some of the 4 and 5 scores on here, we played a top, top championship team away, in a hostile atmosphere, and we won the game and promotion.

Muric 7 one dodgy moment but fine apart from that
Roberts 8 cracking all round game and scored a massive goal
Al-Akdil 7 given the importance of the game he did very well
Beyer 8 he gets better and better for such a young man
Maatsen 7 a poor first half, which showed up some defensive frailties, but much improved second half
Cullen 8 he was everywhere as usual, didn’t put a foot wrong
Brownhill 7 non stop action
JBG 8 some great touches from a good footballing brain
Zaroury 7 good first half and took some heavy punishment, not protected by the ref at all
Tella 8 my mom, he epitomises everything about a Kompany team, non stop work for the team plus plenty of skill
Barnes 7 he has been a revelation since his two goals against Blackburn.

Vitinho 7 strengthened the left hand side when he came on

Without doubt one of my favourite ever seasons in my seventy years watching Burnley, achieved promotion in style, now let’s go up as Champions.

Seems I missed out

Gudmundsson 8 proper cool on the ball and another who found himself all over the pitch. Boro were glad when he went off.

Muric was excellent second half. When it really counted, he came through and dominated the box. So pleased for him. Thought Al-Dakhil was wonderful. Think Cullen was man of the match.

The atmosphere in the ground was lively. Not sure how it came across on telly but Boro fancied that and it was hostile in there. It was brave performance from an amazing team.

Feels odd giving ratings or any form of critique for this team. A season beyond anybody’s wildest dreams surely. Kompany looked a little emotional at the end, seemingly trying to comprehend what he’d done. He’s not the only one. A truly special manager for a truly special team playing for a truly special club.
