All long weekends. We don’t like too long in one spot.

South coast with my daughter during the summer holidays

Amsterdam end of August and Barcelona in October with the missus.

Potentially going back to San Francisco in December with a mate.

California, Arizona and Nevada next month.

Vegas claret might even buy me a drink this time!

@sox8595 Mexico is our fav destination . The resorts we’ve been to have been fantastic. Hope u have an amazing time.

On that note we tried the Bahia in Playa Paraiso Tenerife this year . Bahia have resorts throughout the Carribean and can honestly say for anybody looking for a reasonably priced all inclusive resort that does free child places I couldn’t fault it.

Multiple restaurants inc ala cartes included good selection of drinks, multiple pools, snacks and Ice cream all ready and waiting . A lifesaver with children .

It’s a village type place rather than apartment block which we really like so somehow felt more relaxed . Not going to pretend it’s upto Mexico standards but honestly we enjoyed it so much we came back and booked our main hols there next year for two weeks very reasonably .

Just a heads up to anybody looking for a recommendation.

Denver in two weeks, Dublin and Greece in June, Krakow in September.

A week with the kids and spouses and two cardigan corgies at a nice looking house on the danish/german border. Am hoping that sonderaeske fc will be at home whilst there.

Two centre holiday for us, 4 days on Padiham beach and three days camping at the Fat Pipe.

We can't afford a holiday and haven't had one for 4 years.

With the cost of everything going up I do wonder how people afford it. I have 3 kids (inc 1 step son). So it would never be cheap.

I am guessing many can't afford holidays.

You'll have plenty of folk on this thread that can outright afford either by luck or hard graft they've got the cash. I'd say I'm on a "decent salary" in having enough to not struggle, but no more than that and my answer is priorities/sacrifice.

My holidays are my priority and I make sacrifices to afford them - I'm an armchair fan for a start so that saves me £500 a year in football costs, I don't have Sky/Virgin which is a similar saving so that's 1k a year in the holiday pot as a start.

Had an early trip to Argentina and Antarctica in February

Going to the Canadian Rockies in June. Hopefully 4th time lucky as it's been cancelled multiple times due to Covid and family sickness

Myself and my wife earn modest wages and we have two kids. (Im a B7 Nurse and my wife is a B6 nurse so its no secret what we earn, wife is only 30hrs/wk though)

This year we are going to Spain for 10 days in summer. Cost about £2500 for flights and accommodation. Booked it all myself separately.
Will eat out pretty much every night but we will go shopping when we get there to get breakfast, lunch, and beer.
We are also going Belgium for 3 nights without the kids.
Im also going Riga for 3 nights on a stag do.
Going lakes for a week in October as well (grandparents holiday property bond)

I dont think its difficult to afford the Spanish holiday. I dont buy expensive clothes (although i spend a fair bit on running shoes a year). We dont have any expensive hobbies. We very rarely eat out. We are sensible with our food shops.

In terms of our monthly budget we both allocate £400 a month to ourselves for personal things (phone contracts, clothes, beer/rare nights out etc).
I rarely spend it all. The rest of our monthly earnings go towards bills and savings.

A colleague of mine who with her partner collectively earns more than me and my wife a month couldnt believe how much i saved a month so we went through our bank accounts together so show spending. We worked out she wasnt saving anywhere near as much as me because of the little things (Costa, buying lunch at work etc), and also a big thing (lease car)

Worked hard, have a really good pension but not a state one yet
Mortgage paid off 20 years ago
Kids all married
A few inheritances
Don't smoke
My hobbies are football and holidays so always make sure there's money for them, and a couple of cars which don't do many miles tbh.

We went years when we couldn't afford what we can now, and budgeted accordingly, missing out on holidays some years, but fortunately it paid off and we can benefit from it now.

I’ve stayed here with the wife and kids and agree it’s fantastic for a family holiday.

Travelling around Sweden for a week in June Got tickets for Springsteen in Gothenburg and also staying in Malmo, Lund, Karlskrona, and Helmstad. It’s not costing that much as I bought flights early and cheaply, and staying with friends for a couple of days as well.

Kenya 10 days safari in July. A first for me. Am now retired and lucky enough to have a pension which, together with money left over from money saved whilst working, means I can prioritise travel and following BFC

I’ll be honest, my in laws are paying for most of our trip, we couldn’t afford it really without some real sacrifices, they’re South African so want to take the children to see family. Very lucky really, it would have been a modest week away all inclusive otherwise.

Turkey for 2 weeks all inc next Friday.
Then Kos for 10 nights end of Aug
Tenerife for 2 weeks early Nov in our timeshare.

Have a season ticket, so missing a few games probably here n there, starting with Cardiff on May 8th, but we love our holidays. We both have worked hard all our lives ( I’m not saying anyone else hasn’t ), but we both have company pensions, but both still work hard - but now only part time.

Hope everyone enjoys their holidays, and the sun shines here for those staying in UK.

Just holidaying. Been a number of times before and the kids love the hotel we stay in so venturing back.

Booked well in advance for the caravan site holiday with my daughter and paying it off monthly.

The others, I don't use travel agents, I use sites like booking.com, Skyscanner, Airbnb etc.
I used a hostel when in San Fran last year and I'm going to use the same place next time I go.
Using a hostel in Barcelona too.

Where possible I'll pay for certain day trips in advance, which makes it easier.

Never been, but in Skye the midges weren't an issue as long as you kept moving and stayed away from the busy places (or went to them on a bike)

You were lucky, and we've been lucky too in the past, but when a big cloud of them descend on you, there's nothing that will stop them from biting, unless you walk around covered in head-to-toe midge netting. Avon Sink so Soft, Jungle Formula Deet and old wives tales etc, are no use when you are confronted with dark clouds of midges.

I went to San Fran as part of my honeymoon and ended up staying in a hostel there. There is a massive lack of hotels in the area and they were very expensive. The hostel was cheaper (still expensive for a hostel), but we got our own room and bathroom so was basically a hotel. Quality city and some good bars

It always used to be Texas in Summer, but when they closed I switched to B & Q and Homebase

Suspect they will be more an issue around there as getting away from the beaten track is going to be hard

It was ridiculous on Skye though, people sitting at the Coral Beach in what appeared to be full beekeeping gear while we were swimming there
