Probably best to give each player a first and second half mark and divide by two! Some chalk and cheese performances from a good few.

Muric 7
Roberts 5 (-1 for that second goal)
Harwood-Bellis 4 - disgraceful performance, slow, weak and bullied.
Beyer 7
Maatsen 5 - really talented but got his flip flops on
Benson 8 - special player, arguably player of the season with his contributions
Cullen 7
Brownhill 5
Gudmundsson 7
Zaroury 5 - very disappointed with Anass, looks like he's playing at 70% at what he was pre WC
Barnes 6

Muric 6 - no chance with either goal and made a few sound saves, messy pass that led to their second though
Roberts 6 - passing not as crisp today and didn’t create anything
THB 5 - his second worst performance for us, weak and passing was miles off what he can do
Beyer 5 - like THB, lost the physical battle with Dykes and looked a bit slow
Maatsen 5 - first half he was good, second half awful
Cullen 6 - plenty of tidy play but his line breaking passing wasn’t good enough
Brownhill 5 - barely noticed he was playing aside from one cracking cross first half
JBG 5 - created nothing of note
Benson 7* - just about gets man of match with that ridiculous strike and looked our biggest threat throughout
Zaroury 4 - good first half, abysmal second, shame we have no sub for him
Barnes 4 - missed at least 5 chances first half including one which was easier to score

Twine 5 - not only did our shape go weird, we also lack players to play it to his feet between the lines when he’s asking for it
Rodriguez 5 - looked like someone without any football in 4 months

Hard one to summarise. Horrible advert for the Championship with their tactics and such a hopeless ref. I don’t blame QPR one bit, given their situation, it’s up to the ref to sort it out, but it led to a serious lack of fluidity in the game.

In terms of our performance, first half we were decent and should have scored at least 1. Game would have been different with that, so it’s inexcusable to not take at least one chance. Second was just miles off, shape went weird and we got bullied. I would have liked to see Twine off the left for Zaroury and Jay & Obafemi through the middle, get Maatsen on the overlap. Also disappointed Foster was taken out of the squad and had his momentum sapped.

Such a shame we couldn’t do it in front of that crowd. Battered them 0-0 first half. Second half we were poor. Nowhere near threatening enough for all the posession. Not overly confident for Tues based on this and the tail off since Boro game.

Harwood-Bellis 4
Beyer 5
Maatsen 5
Brownhill 5
Cullen 6
Gudmundsson 5
Benson 7 - plus 1 for offering the only magic again
Barnes 4
Zaroury 4 - loses a point for the most pathetic pulling out of a tackle I’ve seen from a Burnley player in a long long time

Twine 5
Rodriguez 5

The sort of game that puts you off watching live football when you see QPR waste half of the available time and nothing whatsoever is done about it. It was a thoroughly awful spectacle.

That said though, we were really bad in the second half and didn’t deserve anything. I’m hoping we’re going to shape up a bit on Tuesday night and get ourselves out of this lethargic slump since we confirmed promotion.

Should have been out of sight by half time, but we completely dropped our standards all over the pitch 2nd half and paid the price

Yes, QPR cheated quite blatantly, but I think they created more good chances than us 2nd half and certainly looked better and more up for it

I hope VK has a word about it as well, as it would be a shame for the season to finish on performances like that

They have been brilliant all season, and have rightly been promoted but this was flip flops on and full on Macarena sadly

Muric 7. Not really at fault for any of the goals
Roberts 5 - played much of the match in centre mid
Harwood-Bellis 5 - looked a little rusty , missed a sitter first half
Beyer 7 - never seen this guy have a really bad game yet
Maatsen 5 - ok first half -would have kept him on ahead of zaroury 2nd half
Benson 7 - scored his trademark goal , would have liked him to have tested the back line a little more
Cullen 6 - not his best game but hard to pick out to many failings
Brownhill 5 - was dissapointed today thought he would have added a bit more go forward
Gudmundsson 6 - made some good runs as at Rotherham just not picked out today
Zaroury 4 - anonymous second half - set high standards early on struggling to attain them now
Barnes 5 - didn’t really get any service

Rodriguez 5 - similar to Barnes
Twine 5 - not enough time to give go forward momentum
Obafemi - as above

Our great unbeaten run and our home record were always going to come to an end, but what a shame it had to be today. I really couldn't see anything other than a home win today, but that's football.

QPR's antics were a disgrace and the ref was pathetic in allowing it to happen, but when the ball was actually in play (not very often) I thought they were really well organised, determined and carried a threat up front with their pace. I thought they were very good and had us well rattled. We didn't deal with it. I also thought we looked quite leggy in the second half.

In the grand scheme of things it's not that big a deal, we're already up and will still go up as champions, but we need to shape up for Tuesday. What a golden opportunity to win the league title on that lot's home patch.

Let's get it done.

Some crazy low ratings coloured by the frustrations of the second half and not giving enough credit for the glorious tee to green football of the first.

Muric - 7 - blameless for the goals, couple of good saves and dominated the area pretty well.

Roberts - 6 - good first half, one of a few guilty of forcing it after the break.

Maatsen - 7 - terrific in the first half, not bad in the second but didn't get wide as much and we missed the overload he was creating with Gudmundsson.

THB - 6 - generally fine but looked to be caught for the second goal and possibly a bit slow to react for the first.

Beyer - 7 - mopped up effectively, but dragged into a really poor position for their winner.

Cullen- 7 - absolutely magnificent in the first half, but the guiltiest of all of forcing it and allowing the game to get too tight in the second, and lost his bearings for the first goal to let Field run free.

Brownhill- 6 - quietly effective in the first half and OK in the second, although switching him to left back looked to me to overthink things- that's not his position, even in our shape, and it showed.

JBG - 7 - very good in the first half but again we needed more options from him getting wide in the second half.

Benson - 7 - fabulous goal. First half was a little frustrating, particularly because he had chances to gamble at the back post and didn't take them. Another who will feel culpable for the first goal because he's the man closest to the completely unmatked Field.

Zaroury - 7 - 9 for a first half in which he had Maatsen and JBG offering overloads and lots of simple options and was unplayable partly as a result, 5 for a second half in which those overloads disappeared and he ended up unsuccessfully trying to do too much.

Barnes - 6 - very effective in the first half until it came to finishing. Could have had a hat trick but missed them.

Rodriguez- 6 - neat enough but one decent headed aside struggled to get clear chances in a congested 18 yard box. Poor for the first goal but it wasn't ideal that he'd only just entered the pitch.

Twine - 6 - couple of nice touches but not really a threat.

Obafemi- 5 - reasonably dynamic but as Rodriguez, struggled to find space.

Frustrating day. The first half was as well as we've played all season, and had we had our shooting boots on, gambled on some great balls across or had a bit more luck, we'd have been three or more up even giving credit to some great last ditch defending from QPR. As the ref failed to get a grip on QPRs antics the second half got bitty and fragmented and we got suckered into trying to force passes through the packed central area rather than patiently working the overloads as we did before half time. That, combined with the fact we lack a quick switch of play in our midfield armoury, meant our attacks broke down too often in congested areas just outside the D and gave QPR chances to hit us on the counter. For all that, it took two dreadfully slack, on-the-beach moments of defensive negligence, to gift QPR their two chances.

But if we play that game 20 times, we win it 18, draw it once and lose it once. That's sort of reflects our home record in recent months and perhaps that result had come, particularly with promotion assured. Still a shame not to go through the home season unbeaten, and it makes getting the 100 points our season deserves a tough ask, which is a shame. But hey ho.

Gutting game to lose, but we were the architects of our downfall.
THB bullied in the 2nd half, Roberts tired visibly in the last 20 minutes.

The game was ruined by their tactics, and the weakest referee I've ever seen. 20 minutes added time would hardly have covered it. How could they get away with that, and not receive a card for somebody is incompetence.

That said, our inability to punish them was all us. Too many unnecessary touches, failing to put early balls into the box. Not taking advantage of numerous shooting opportunities. When we did attempt shots the man would take a touch, kill any pace on the ball, and then try to dig it out from under his feet from 20 yards. You can't score with those.

Last 20 minutes there was no movement up top from us, it was like we'd run out of ideas.
We've had a great season, but it's obvious a few of these players aren't good enough for the step up next season.
A new striker, and a ball winning midfielder are essential, otherwise it could be a long season.

Gudmundsson 6
Zaroury 6 - Last few weeks has exposed our lack of options in that position.
Barnes 4 - Has to score at least one of those chances in the first half. Swansong sung?

Rodriguez 4
Twine 4 - Not convinced. His arrival saw us become even more disjointed.

QPR wanted it to be a certain sort of game, the ref facilitated it, and we didn't do enough especially in the second half to overcome it.

Nervous ahead of the derby now. Would be absolutely typical of being a Burnley fan if despite this brilliant season we throw one in against that lot.

I suppose it had to happen totally dominated first half, could have, should have scored 4. Second half 27,000 passes going nowhere and woeful defending for their goals.
Onwards and upwards and you local’s and me would like to see the Championship won on Tuesday

Muric 6
Roberts 4 He can’t defend and is so unbelievably slow. He’s like that co-worker who always looks busy but doesn’t actually do anything most days. We’ll struggle next season if he starts.
THB 4 Poor. Ekdal is better. By some distance. We don’t need him next season.
Beyer 6 Tough game. Had to cover the whole of the defence with THB not up to it, Roberts hiding in midfield and Maatsen on holiday.
Maatsen 5 On the beach.
Cullen 7 Needs a partner next season.
Browhnhill 5 Not the partner Cullen needs.
JBG 6 Oozes class. Will thrive next season if we sign some ability in midfield and up front.
Zaroury 5 End product abysmal. Needs to step up next season and will do so.
Barnes 5 Not in the game. At all.
Benson 7 Another great goal gets him an extra point.

Twine 4 Not involved. Not up to up. Like a boy playing against men. Loan out.
JayRod 4 Looks like time is up
Obafemi 4 Anonymous. Not needed.

The game cried out for Vitinho to replace Roberts to give the 3 players marking Benson something else to think about.

Too many changes in the last 3 games and a mistake to celebrate after ‘Boro as if the job was done.

An unbelievable season looks like fizzling out which is a real shame and something our manager will learn from. Tuesday looks a tough ask if VK can’t get them all back from holiday.

Thought he was pretty anonymous in the second half to be honest.

I think VK made the changes so soon after half time because we really hadn't got going at all

It didn't help that QPR scored straight after it either

I was probably a bit harsh in my ratings, and I get that its a young team that have had a fantastic season but I still do hope parts of that second half were a one off

Becoming obvious Maatsen would cost us in the Premier League

I agree. But bewildering how you give Maatsen a 7.

Because for 45 of the 75 or so minutes he was on the pitch, he was outstanding. First half his interplay with Zaroury and JBG was a joy.

Individually you could say this about several (or more) of our current squad.
So tactics and sensible, progressive, transfer business is what we will need...
but I think we all know this. The last 3 games are a real reminder of what we need, possibly not such a bad thing.

He really wasn't oustanding. Oustanding? An oustanding player doesn't get substituted today.

Muric 6 Did ok apart from the stupid distribution that led ultimately to their second goal
Roberts 5 prefer Vitiniho in that position, slows play down
Harwood-Bellis 5 Agree he was bullied, poor distribution, looked slow his worst game for us
Beyer 6 A bit better than THB but not a lot and looked out on his feet at the end
Maatsen 6 Good first half held on to the ball to long second, poor
Cullen 6 I thought his job was to link defence to midfield and create attacking scenarios but didn`t see any of that today
Brownhill 4 Totally anonymous
Benson 8 Our one bright light they doubled up on him from the start but we didn`t take advantage, his goal like at Rotherham indicates he`s on his way back to his early season form
Gudmundsson 7 Thought he was playing steady away and was surprised when he was hooked and not Zaroury
Zaroury 5 Poor service into the box by his own standards but second half contributed very little
Barnes 5 Got in position to have the chances but never really looked like taking any of them

Rodriguez 5 Looked like a player coming back from a long lay off
Twine 5 Not really sure what his job in the team is to do
Obefami 5 would like to see him get longer

We seriously miss Tella, our lack of creativity in midfield is highlighted when a team gets everybody back behind the ball, few efforts on goal from outside the box and those we had were poor, players trying to make runs into space looking for a through ball inside the full back that never comes because we deliberate on the ball and then go backward or sideways, the reluctance to play this ball means we don`t get behind their defence unless a winger creates something.

When I saw the team sheet I believed we had the right selections to win this game as did others but with hindsight how wrong were we but I think it was more down to the lack of desire to win by some, lets hope that is reinstated by Tuesday night

He was outstanding in the first half. Not for the 30 minutes 20 minutes of playing time he was on the pitch for in the second half, although he was far from our worst player. I think Kompany just wanted to get another creative forward on the pitch and sacrificed a full back. For my money, a mistake but there we are.

Fair enough. You’ve referred to people giving crazy low mark but not sure how you can justify your marks for some. I mean, 7 for Rodriguez- I love Jay - but what did he do that remotely resembles that score. He was barely in the game. Suppose some of the difference is because of the stark difference between the two halves, Jay excepted.

You can debate Jay. Tricky to mark. I thought for a player coming back from injury he did quite well in a tough gig - congested penalty box, slow service, etc., did well with one chance and showed a fee nice touches. But a 6 - fine. Not going to quarrel that. Those who played both halves should be judged on both halves, including the first which was excellent tee to green.

I don't think Jay was tricky to mark. I think you're the only person who gave him 7. He was pretty anonymous so I'm not sure how anyone could have judged him as good. The point is you critised the low marks of others, yet you seem to be an outlier with unwarranted high ratings. I agree about the first half although I'd say excellent is pushing it a bit - if that'd been the case the game would've been out of sight.
