Alan Pace won't be in attendance at Ewood Park on Tuesday

On Tuesday we face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park and as I’m sure many of you are aware I have expressed my disappointment at our ticket allocation for the fixture. I have asked Councillor Afrasaib Anwar MBE and his wife Tahra to take our places in the Chairman’s Lounge at the game.

The Lancashire Derby is a significant date in our fixture calendar and I’m pleased Afrasaib and Tahra will be in attendance to represent our community.

That's a cracking way to get your point across without spelling it out.

Whilst he gets his point across, he doesn't stoop to their petty, pathetic,
infantile behaviour and attitude.

Make no mistake, it will hurt him enormously to not be there and be part
of a potential momentous occasion for which he's worked so hard
to achieve.

I admire his principles.

Admirable given the title winning potential and in solidarity with those of us who would love to be there but unfairly aren’t allowed to be.

Would have been better if the club had organised a ballot for 2 supporters to take his place...

Christ on a bike. Just celebrate the wins and stop looking to stick the knife in.

It’s a grand gesture, leave it at that.

I hope the Councillor and his good wife were in the ballot and it's not just a brown nosing the council job.

Aye, always look for the negatives. What a bunch of tossers we have become. If you could bottle and sell negativity, this forum would be rich.

Brilliant gesture from the Chairman. I’m just hoping the recipients are able to tell the Chairman after the game how brilliant we played and what a wonderful deserving win it was for us.

I’m guessing ‘ya lemon’is in the English dictionary for people with limited vocabulary.

Here’s my advice , don’t get carried away with number of ‘likes’

Or that it went straight over the heads of 12 people -or 13 if we count you 'ya lemon'.

I won’t be taking advice from you.

It is part of a sentence, ‘…ya lemon.’ The English dictionary records words that can be used collectively to form a sentence. So no, it isn’t.

Using an ellipsis where a full stop should be implies a poor grasp of the English language…

It doesn’t serve to imply the sarcasm that the author claims.

Feel free to critique, I’m off to play on the M6…

"The team used two tests; one giving a statement sentence context, and one statement sentence with no context to test the participant’s ability to read the sarcasm in the message.

Simple text-based emoticons were used including the winking face and the tongue out face. While punctuation marks included the exclamation mark, the ellipses and the full stop, which were used in the sentences to explore the use of sarcasm. The findings saw that emoticons and punctuation did not increase the perception that an explicit sentence was sarcastic, as the intent of the message was obvious. Researchers noted that the two emoticons and the ellipses made the literal messages more sarcastic to the reader."

Great gesture from the chairman, shame the thread had degenerated into a slanging match.

Thank you for that. I’d point out, the ellipsis is used following sarcasm. I’m going to play on the M6…

Following a statement, it’s just stupid.

WTF is wrong with people
Chairman makes an honourable stand and also gives his tickets to a person who had devoted a large chunk of his life to promoting multi faith relationships and football in our town.
Everything positive you would have thought but yet most of the thread is a negative argument about sweet fanny Adams.

So the intention is hoping people don’t realise it’s a joke. Then you can come alone with “it was a joke”

As Council Leader, Councillor Anwar takes a lead role on:

Promoting Burnley

You don’t do dead pan humour then?

Do you need canned laughter when you watch comedy shows too?
