UK emergency-alert system…

Anyone suspicious of why the Government are doing this? Have you disabled your mobile so it won't receive the message?
The 2 Premier League matches will be interesting at 3pm when thousands of mobiles sound out in unison.

What's there to be suspicious about?

Neither matches will be in play at 3pm. Not all fans will have a phone. But agree i am concerned if you’re going to give an audible warning of impending danger in an enclosed area of 30.000 plus people. What will happen when it’s real alert?

It really is that simple

Heard everyone going wild on Jeremy vine this week, try not to overthink things people you’ll feel much more stable

Based on the quality of phone signal in stadiums, I doubt they'd receive it....
Also, no I'm not worried.

I'm concerned that Roy Keane's phone might get the alert at half time and make him angry

My biggest criticism would be that although I basically have no issue with the concept this test has not been well publicised. This is the first I have heard of it.

Seen/heard throughout the media - tv adverts, social media, newspapers, radio. It's on the BBC and Sky news home pages right now.

I was in Holland a couple of weeks ago and my phone went off a few times to let me know there was a large fire a few miles away and to keep my windows closed.
Speaking to a Dutch guy about it he says it’s used pretty frequently- if a child goes missing, extreme weather etc Sounds pretty useful- can’t understand why anyone would have a problem with it

Yes, really. This is the first time I have been made aware of it. I listen to the radio and watch tv regularly and have not heard or seen anything about this. I also check thevBBC news app most days and have seen nothing on there until just now.

They ran those TV commercials about it and that big radio campaign. Don't forget the leaflets they dropped from the space shuttle. And the two weeks we all spent at emergency alert camp.

No problem for me as such. Could be a good thing but only slight problem is timing. This is happening just as the news is saying NATO countries have agreed Ukraine must become a member. That’s a pretty big red rag to the Russian bull. Probably no connection but it does make you think.

There’s some belting theories being bandied about, the best one being the massive surge in ‘5G’ is going to trigger aggressive cancers in the triple vaccinated because the COVID jabs haven’t killed as many as the government wanted.

Mine said if you are a Blackburn Rovers fan, high danger risk between 20.00 and 22.00 hours on upcoming Tuesday. Strongly advise that you stay at home and don't watch your TV.

My wife’s went off for about 5 seconds (Samsung), whereas mine did diddly squit (iPhone). I presume that’s the point of a test, but I would like to know why mine didn’t work!

Daughter's went off at 14:59
Son's at 15:03
Daughter in law's 15:04
Everyone else in the house didn’t receive a warning, so that was successful

Driving at the time when it went off, nearly pulled up the car it was beeping through the car speakers and on screen display, took a few minutes to realise that it wasn't a major stop your car warning as your engine is going to explode
Wife and son's phone didnt go off daughters did . None of them switched off for alerts.

Given that you can never get a signal in football, I don't fancy our chances, if there is a real alert!
