Rules on throw ins.....

Have they changed?
Not an excuse for losing but QPRs first goal came from what I thought was classed as a foul throw because the player had only one foot on the floor and the other the height of his knee off the ground, don't both feet have to be touching the floor?

There’s lots of rules that the officials essentially ignore, foul throws, six second rule for keepers, fouls on Ashley Barnes.

Just taken a look at it again and trying to freeze the pic at the point he releases the ball, I think both feet are in contact with the ground although one foot does then come up. Even so, would be doubtful if a linesman would be able to see a raised foot when he’s not even looking at him.

One thing I don't understand anymore is why linesmen don't watch the thrower and another thing I've noticed is when a keeper has the ball in his hands the linesmen will be back on the half way line or running towards it never watching to see if he steps out of his area before releasing the ball

I didn't watch the replay but I remember Phil Bird doing his nut saying that it wasn't taken from the right place which considering the ref lost his mind any time a free kick wasn't taken from the right place seems laughable

Often players are running when the release the ball and also often don't have the ball behind their head at the time of release Both are illegal throw ins .Totally ignored in many ganes

The nonsense of players stealing yards at throw ins really annoys me but could easily be avoided by the ref or lino putting down a spray mark where the ball went out (same kind of thing that they do for a free kick).

That's because they have to get back into position for checking offside.

Going back, checking replays, freeze framing throw-ins, scrutinizing if a foot was on the floor or not... The game is bad enough with VAR as it is.
Besides, it levels it itself out, and our winning goal against Rotherham came from a ropey throw-in decision

Linesmen used to take sideward steps back to the halfway line so he could keep his eye on the keeper whilst getting back in position to check offside if the ball came back that way.
Now they just run head down towards the halfway line without even looking at the keeper

Pretty much every throw in in every game is in some way or other illegal and actually a foul throw these days. I realised years ago that nobody was bothered about it, but it still bugs me.

I spotted the same on the throw in for their first goal ie the thrower had a foot up but foul throws rarely given these days.Difficult for referees to book players who go down to break up play as the “injury” may be real! Perhaps playing 30 mins each way with time added on by a separate adjudicator whenever the ball is out of play would work but it still wouldn’t stop players going down to break up play.

But if the ref made a player leave the field if he went down and halted play that would stop this nonsense and if the ref judged he was deliberately halting play, the ref could then leave him on the sidelines a tad until letting him back into play.
