National League North

I know there are fans on here of Non-League football and go and watch their local non-league clubs when they can't make the Burnley game, just checking some tables to see how old ex-Football League clubs are doing and the National League North has stood out to me.

A couple of games in hand to be played this midweek before the final round of games take place this weekend and it is all set for an exciting finish.

King's Lynn (Yes in the National League North) and AFC Fylde are fighting for the title and only automatic promotion spot, Fylde have a game in hand at Curzon Ashton this evening, if they win then they'll be two points clear and away at already relegation Bradford PA on the final day. Failure to win this evening will result in King's Lynn needing to beat Curzon Ashton at home on the final day for promotion. Curzon Ashton themselves are only 2 points off the play off places.

Apart from one of King's Lynn and Fylde the only other team certain of the play offs and will finish the season 3rd is Chester, whose manager Calum McIntyre is only 29 years of age.

After this there are 10 teams fighting over the final 4 play off places, anyone from 4th to 13th can get in the play offs on the final day, these include, Alfreton, Brackley, Scarborough, Buxton, Chorley, Kiddersminster, Curzon Ashton, Gloucester, Spennymoor and Darlington.

For the battle to avoid the drop Telford, Bradford PA and Leamington have already been relegated, leaving one spot left. That more than likely is a battle between Blyth, Kettering and Farsley as Southport's GD should keep them safe.

Blyth have a home game against mid-table Hereford to end the season, Kettering are away at play off chasing Kidderminster whilst Farsley are away of play off chasing Spennymoor.

The last game of the season takes place this Saturday 29th April and with plenty still to play for.

There are eight former Football League clubs in National League North, if you include the clubs that rose from the league team going out of business which is five of the eight.

But there are no former Football League clubs in National League South.

used to be a regular visitor at Bath City in National League South a few years back (including our pre-season game under Howe and a post match pint with Trippier and Shackell). Very enjoyable level of football to watch.

My late father and family are from Blyth and every Saturday/Tuesday I check to see how the “Spartans” have done. Difficult season this year and hoping they beat the drop.

Avenue are not quite gone yet. 6 adrift with 2 to play. Need to win both starting with Alfreton tonight and bridge a 4 goal gap at the same time whilst hoping Kettering lose.

I quite regularly go to Spennymoor Town, the standard is very good, South Shields to look forward to next season as well.

Buxton went on a huge run, after nervously looking at the relegation places for most of the early season.
Haven't been on much this season for obvious reasons. 8-)

I watched Hereford and Southport at Banbury United this season. I believe Scunthorpe United will play there next season.

That's for one season only. Next year maidstone and Yeovil will both be in nl south. Yeovil might be too unless they get a miracle on Saturday or, more likely, an administration reprieve at the expense of southend. Oxford city look as though they are heading for nl north.

The sand dancers have been great this season, shame Phillips has done one.
Incidentally, Shields were crowdfunding on Seedrs last year. Anyone a shareholder?

Had to do a double check when I saw that name. 39yo now. A very good lower level career.
