well done to the Ground staff that have won Grounds team of the year trophy and pitch of the year.
massive amount of hard work goes on behind the scenes to enable the team to perform at their best too.

Still like a bowling green after 25(?) matches, excellent achievement especially when you look at the pitches in years gone by in the pre-match montage (Times Like These).

Can't say I know many on that pic but the bloke on the far right doesn't look like a groundsman to me.

Third from the right is Aiden - he's a smashing lad and has been working on the pitches now for around forty years. I suspect he started straight from school.

It's not just the Turf, all the pitches at Gawthorpe are always in top condition.

I’ve been a bit of a pitch snob this season when we’ve played on quite a few others, and that’s largely down to how good ours looks in comparison. It’s due to be replaced this summer too right?

Is it right that the pitch is massively overdue being dug up? You wouldn't know by looking at it but will a new pitch be laid down this summer?

The Desso pitch was laid in 2010 after the Premier League relegation. I have it in my head that Paul Fletcher told me it would last around fifteen years so we are getting close to that now. We've gone down the Desso route now, I think there are around four such pitches at Gawthorpe.

Used to live near Aiden (my mum still does). He is a really top bloke and I think you're right CT, think he did start straight from school. He'll certainly have seen some players, managers and successes in that time!

One of them is my lad he’s been there since he was 14. He did his work experience from school then worked for nothing to get experience until he got an apprenticeship. He’s been there nearly 9 years now and is fully qualified and he loves it. Hard work pays off

I’ve known him virtually all that time. Not seen him in a while though.

That’s Aiden trying to mark the lines on the pitch when it was in a right state.

Just great to see VK in the photo acknowledging the ground staff team's hard work. One big team pulling in the same direction

There was a thread on this a while ago, the vast majority very complimentary.

Baz with the trophy is one of the nicest lad you could ever meet, been working on the Turf for a long time.
