Pre season

Any rumours where we might be heading?

I wouldn't mind going to Helmond then on to a couple of clubs in Belgium.

Will Pace rekindle his plans to play in America that relegation stopped?

I hope so, would be nice to get a weekend away somewhere different

America
Plenty of clubs have already announced games out there.
Won't their season be active June/July? Might limit opportunities.

Benelux region would be class. So easy to get into, great beers and culture. Failing that Ireland

USA would be class but I think that's outside the reach of our local supporting base unless your playing in a tournament against other PL clubs

Think VK has already mentioned they are planning an exciting pre season, so probably Accrington and Grimsby.

Correct. Mates came across Alan Pace in Bristol yesterday and he said they were going to Portugal.

A good pre season will be a good investment this season pre facing the PL, and good for players like Foster to integrate

Believe it is likely to be the same as last year with us playing virtually all of our pre season games behind closed doors.

Last season we just had the game at Shrewsbury and is probably going to be something similar this year. We will be going to Portugal again, twice potentially, but no games for the public.

Really shocked and a bit disappointed at this. Thought we’d do the States and start trying to build awareness of the club across the pond.

Hopefully not behind closed doors as I wouldn’t mind doing a game in Portugal.

Training camp in Portugal but most of pre season behind closed doors. I hadn’t heard Bolton, just that there was likely to be one pre season away game for fans to attend.

The pre season last summer seems to have done the trick, so if VK wants it to be the same again that's fine by me ...

I recall the Huddersfield manager at the time saying they couldn’t really plan the game against us because we’d stayed hidden away in pre season.

At least one game in Africa wouldn't be bad for garnering a global following given how popular Foster's progression appears to be.
Line up a few TV interviews with him wearing a www.shop.burnleyfc.com t-shirt.

Exactly this, prefer the team prepare correctly and not travel the world trying to gather support, or a trip to the continent so that fans can have a weekend on the pop.

Just stick to what works

That’s a very fair point, and VK’s approach worked last year so you have to go with it. I suppose pre-season is about work and preparing for the season over entertainment!

I remember that too. Think we were all amazed by what happened at Huddersfield.

Wonder if VK has some system changes planned for next year?

I dont have any great knowledge but i was told bolton will play us despite worries over thr pitch due to Pink having two concerts in june.

I was told she has "possession" of the stadium for a month.

They told me it was their home game.

By the way have you seen the price of tickets for Pink? Wow!

The facilities didn't look that good on the footage of our games against Newcastle.
I just put it down to Vinny not having much time to organise.
Must have been more to the complex if we're going back?

Don't think so. This is City of Football near Lisbon. I was there just a few weeks before the squad were last summer.

Would be fantastic to play a friendly open to fans in Lisbon however, reading the above not confident that we will if VK wants to keep our pre season private.

Slight tangent but tickets for the pre-season friendly between Chelsea and Wrexham in Chapel Hill, Carolina sold out before they got to open sale. Capacity is 51,000 and tickets were priced $200 - $550.

Anyone know where the training facilities in Portugal ? Asking for a friend who may apply for domestic bail but may leave out the potential lack of match access.

Other things like accounts , slowest auditors in the world and pre-season for some reason must be kept secrets

I did post Portugal some time ago - they are going next Month as Andy suggests then back again, but as far as I know, like last year, there are no games to go and see.

I don't subscribe to the paper so didn't read the article, but we knew they were going Portugal, I just didn't think we would go twice?

I believe we will be playing a friendly in Portugal either Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd July. Hopefully it is open for fans to fly out and enjoy a weekend and take a game in and not behind closed doors. No idea when it will be announced though.
