Guy I deal with through work phoned me yesterday and amongst other topics, he said I have a new next door neighbour who you may know. Who might that be?
Wayne Thomas, used to play for Burnley. Do you remember him. Of course I do, he was poor for us and we had Southampton's trousers down getting a million or so for him.

Genius from Burnley to get that fee for a less than "bang average" player. Mind you he earned a living from the game which a lot of us would like to have done.

Don’t think he played many games for them either. Think he might of done his ACL pretty soon after signing for them

Harsh to say he was poor, was a decent defender and we didn't see the best of him - but we did get a ridiculous fee for and brought in Clarke Carlisle for a patience as a replacement. Great business.

Was probably better over his career than we saw of him but 4 red cards in his first 27 games for us meant Burnley fans were never gonna take to him.

Was it £1.2 million to Southampton then signed Carlisle for 200k from Watford?

3 million. Same as Benson, Zaroury and Al Dakhil.

Pretty sure it was £1.2 million. Cotterill was brilliant in the transfer market.

Not harsh, I judge him purely on what I watched at Burnley and he was dreadful
Unreal business offloading him

Must admit I thought it was more, 500k would have been good business

Played for 15 clubs and went on to a far old age. He did his ACL with us too but made a swift recovery, without requiring surgery. Cotterill flew over to Florida to sign him whilst he was on hols

What's he up to now then?
He seems to have remained in football.

I felt that million we got for Thomas was the start of our renaissance!

Correct Owen Coyle spent it on a lorry full of Iron Bru and the rest is history.

If we got £1.2 million for him then that would be over £2 million in today's money, so not far off Zaroury, Benson etc.
