Right, its one link from a podcaster
https://twitter.com/FootballMartin_/sta ... 1204089863
He's got about 2,000 followers
Is there anything more concrete than that (though I do take that he didn't play for Saints as a good sign btw)

He said he suffered when he was at Westerlo and that he's in a good place now. I would hope that we try to take care of and support all of the players, in particular those who are young and far from home.

Any truth in Coulibaly failing his medical or is it just a rumour because the deal hasn’t been announced yet?

Foster mentioned that he was still suffering when he came to us and we helped him a lot. It would have definitely affected his performance.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
It does seem a bit weird that the deals for Coulibaly and Trafford were apparently 'done' almost a week ago, yet neither have been announced. Bring back memories of Daniel Ballard last summer.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 8:50 amAny truth in Coulibaly failing his medical or is it just a rumour because the deal hasn’t been announced yet?
Trafford you can somewhat understand a slight delay because he was playing at the Euros, but he's clearly around the area (was watching Bolton the other night) so I fail to understand the hold up there. Andy Jones (The Athletic) said on that podcast that he had heard Trafford's medical was scheduled for Monday of this week, yet apparently didn't take place. The more days that go by with that you start to wonder what has transpired, if anything?
Coulibaly again, we were told his medical was happening on Monday yet we have heard nothing since.
We can only speculate, that's the nature of this thread, but until they are announced anything can happen and maybe has done?
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I suspect the deal up with Trafford hangs on getting BPF out of the door.
Either way, I’m not too concerned and would be more than happy starting with Muric between the sticks.

Bayer Leverkusen, Everton. At it sounds as if he won’t be playing for us.

+1 to this. As a fellow sufferer, I can't comprehend what it must be like to battle it whilst having to perform on a football pitch in front of 1000's of people. Sometimes getting out of bed is an accomplishment for me, it can be totally draining.superdimitri wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 8:53 amFoster mentioned that he was still suffering when he came to us and we helped him a lot. Hope we're giving him the time and support he needs. Always wanted him to do well for us - now even more so.

15 million € bid rejected for Mikautadze. They want 20.

A good opening gambit that and if they want 20 and we're only 5 off (a bit like Tella) then you can imagine a meeting of minds at around £17.5m perhaps.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 9:34 amhttps://twitter.com/sachatavolieri/stat ... 1738647552

Really hope so - I know it's only Ligue 2 but some of the goals he scored and his general game give me massive Danny Ings vibes. I would be really excited by that.

Clubs are asking for a lot of money for players this summer it seems. Is this the Saudi effect already being felt or have other clubs got sick of the Prem’s large cash pile and want in? Seems every player with a half decent season is 15m+.

Southampton in the championship have already blown *up to £15 million* on an untried Man City youngster
With that sort of money floating around then there isn't a lot you can do

Reality of the transfer market in the Premier League. Different world to the Championship. You can see why so many deals get done late on with every club holding out for the most money with buyers becoming more and more desperate.

We cannot moan about prices really when we are putting in a purchase price of £15m on a guy who has played 62 minutes of first team football, and then a deal worth up to £19m on a guy who has only ever played in League One.
The finances have shifted up another level yet again - the gap between this league and the one below widening ever further.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
At least we’re not just hearing of a bid that’s gone in - we’re hearing that it’s been rejected. This suggests the negotiations are probably a lot further on than just the initial bid.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
It’s been going on for years
Whenever Dyche pointed it out, people failed to grasp it.
Clubs like Villa, during their time in the championship, were happy to overpay and that made it harder for clubs like us and then again when we got promoted.
League 1 clubs will also be demanding bigger money for their players as a result and transfers for £10 million + for league one players will eventually become the norm
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
It's refreshing for our bids not to be always accompanied by the word 'insulting' as they used to be (unless it is for a Coventry player).

The follow up tweet does rather suggest that we are the only team currently in the chase who are close to the asking price

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Its possible but I would have thought Man City would not take our bid seriously if we told them we would buy Trafford but needed to move out one of our keepers first befor committing to the purchase, then I guess Trafford would technically be available to other clubs

Ross McCormack kickstarted the silly money for lower-league or 1 season wonders, as I recall.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 10:01 amIt’s been going on for years

It's completely unsustainable, it'll hit a point where it has to come down because prices have risen so high that there's fewer clubs that can afford to buy, than spaces for those players to go to.
Or we'll just see players running down their contracts become the norm.

I've never seen any Burnley player with a better first touch, and an instinct for where the net is. If he doesn't come back, I'd be seriously worried about our safety this season.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think he’s main attribute we’d miss his his pace in the press. He was excellent at drifting across the frontline from the left and pressing the CB and RB. We would get that with WW just at a more pedestrian pace.

On first reading this I thought you were drawing comparisons between Tella and Weghorst. And then I thought 'hell, he's serious'.

I think Zaroury’s first touch is just as could ,but Tella is more consistent ,& pacier.
