Laws reign is forgivable because he was (is) an honest man doing the best of a bad job.
It's different with Coyle.

I’ve long since forgiven him. His stints at Bolton and Blackburn made me realise that he had fluked his promotion with us and he wasn’t the next coming. It hurt so much at the time because I thought he was worth being upset at losing. Now I realise he wasn’t.
A bit like being dumped by a gorgeous girl only to see her a couple of years later rather worse for wear and realise you had a lucky escape.

Indeed, Laws is just a footnote but Coyle was the man who turned the club around to get us where we are now.

I think you're confusing Coyle with Dyche tbh but it's all about opinions.
Coyle was an important player in the game for us. He gave us that initial taste of the PL.
However, his promotion success isn't a matter of opinion - it's there in black and white (or colour) for all to see.
What I was referring to was the character of these two very distinct individuals.
As you well know.

I think I've forgiven him - I think of the good times, the amazing cup journeys, the exciting football, somehow getting a team of average players into the Premier League- good luck with the promotion Judas.

He'll create a little bit of history if they do get promoted, Queen's Park have not played in the top tier of Scottish Football since 1958 ...
Many of us will remember 1970's footage of Scottish Cup finals and Home Internationals being played at Queen's Park's original ground of Hampden Park. The goal areas were always bare, and they had trademark square posts and crossbars, compared to Wembley's usually immaculate turf, notwithstanding the odd Show Jumping event & Rugby League final. Queen's Park would often play in front of less than 1,000, in a ground that had held around 149,000 before modern safety regulations ....

Coyle proved that it really isn't that difficult to cobble a team together to get out the Championship.

I worked with a young Scottish, Seihk, engineer who was a keen Queens Park supporter. I took him on Turf Moor and he was from then onwards also a claret.
Oh, and who's Owen Coyle?

Surprised to read that, such judgements must invariably be comparative and I'd assumed that you were old enough to have remembered Chris Waddle.

He left in a very bad way, which is hard to forgive or forget.
But he did give us PL football, showed us what was possible.

it was bad at the time , even on the coach after the play off final the radio mentioned interest from celtic for him.
but the game is a mess of ponce players like the leeds team ignoring kids, to the ten managers a minute chelsea, and yet again leeds. city players on half a million quid a week, the list is endless. ultimately those involved have no affinity with the clubs we support.

Life is short so we move on from Coyle, Dyche and it will be the same with Vinny in time but that is life. But never forget the good times they brought to our club.

The way that Coyle snaked out of our club will never be forgotten by myself and this doesn't make me bitter and twisted.
The atmosphere at both the Reebok in the League and the League Cup tie at The Turf was something special and showed exactly the strength of feeling against him.
Sean Dyche on the other hand has remained dignified and respectful about his time at Burnley and will no doubt get the reception that he deserves on his return.

Not really fussed "either way" re Coyle anymore as it's so long ago now and we've come so far, even though yes, he definitely left in a very underhand and disingenuous way at a time when it was always likely to hurt Burnley the most, but what I wanted to say was as he lived locally (maybe still does?) I knew someone who knew him and his wife extremely well and he was DEFINITELY offered the Celtic job the summer after the play off final and he DEFINITELY wanted to jump ship and take it. Mrs Coyle, fed up with constant moving around due to the nature of the job and with kids constantly moving schools was (apparently) the one who told him he had to turn it down.
