Funny as you like.
To me, Michael Palin just has one of the faces that make me laugh whenever I see him

Re: Barnstoneworth United
At the time it was first broadcast I seem to recall we were having a stinker of a season ourselves so it felt too close to the truth to be properly enjoyed. It would certainly be a great watch now and the record button has been pressed. In those days we went 20 games without a win now we go 20 games without defeat!

Sadly, Michael Palin's wife died yesterday.

I’ve looked at the programmes scheduled for Saturday night but can’t see anything relating to that.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 1:11 pmFor anybody that hasn’t seen Michael Palins Ripping Yarns football story it is on BBC2 at 1030pm Saturday.

Re: Barnstoneworth United
Just checked it seems it’s on BBC 4 at 10.30 pm. Well worth a watch despite having watched it about 4 or 5 times before. Reminds me of the many years I supported and watched pretty much every match (as well as the reserves ) at Herne Bay FC when I lived down that part of the world, still pop in and see them when I visit. Supported them and the clarets since I was about 10 years old, 62 years ago.

Re: Barnstoneworth United
Reminds me of the 86/87 season when a sizeable contingent at the back of the Longside were singing, 'Barnstonworth, Barnstonworth,..'
Loved Ripping Yarns.
