If someone said to you that out of the many football clubs in England, they were looking to choose one to follow, what would you say to convince them to choose Burnley?

I wouldn’t.
Nobody persuades you to support a club. You find them or they find you, but for most people it’s not an active decision.

Follow where you’re born unless it’s Blackburn

In my experience you either support your Dad’s team or your local team. Anything outside that is normally glory hunters following the top end Prem teams.

So for me if I followed that rule it would be Charlton

The family weren't happy in 2016

My kids football over here in Calderdale is dominated by Man U and Liverpool shirts. They are obviously all following their dad's teams but I don't believe for one minute that it was passed down from their grandads. Just 80's and 90's glory hunters.
Best thing last week when the coach made everyone clap my lad for Burnley being champions!

I am maybe the exception to that rule ....
I was born in Berkhamsted, Herts ( nearest Club, Watford ) to parents who both hailed from Nottingham, Dad being a County fan. When 4, we moved to Dublin, 8 we moved to Nottingham, aged 9 moved to Tunbridge Wells and 11, moved to Clitheroe. In August 75, my Dad drove us to Upton Park to see West Ham beat Burnley 3-2. Whilst Burnley played in white, I loved the shirts with the " V " design, and Dad said, " Well that's good, because Burnley's only a few miles from our new house ! ". That was me sorted ... eventually married a Rosegrove girl in 1989, and that was that !!
Alan Taylor, who went on to be a Claret, did the damage for West Ham that day, scoring twice, following on from his brace in the 1975 Cup Final ..

Born in Whitchurch, Shropshire. Dad used to go and watch Stoke or Port Vale, which were the nearest teams. First game I went to see was at the old Victoria Ground, Stoke. They were playing Burnley. The rest is history.
