Man City v Leeds - 3pm Blackout
Just seen that the Man City v Leeds game is on Sky tomorrow.
It’s a 3pm kick off.
What’s happened to the Saturday 3pm blackout?

It is because it was a game rescheduled from midweek, with tv coverage already agreed (according to the radio)

How does a game get rescheduled from midweek to a Saturday?Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 5:09 pmIt is because it was a game rescheduled from midweek, with tv coverage already agreed (according to the radio)
Edit - unless it was due to be Monday but had to be changed for the CL?

The Premier League is set to break the traditional 3pm blackout rule on Saturday, May 6 when Manchester City take on Leeds United.
In the UEFA Article 48, it states that no Premier League, Football League or domestic cup matches are to be broadcast live between 2:45pm and 5:15pm on a Saturday afternoon. The blackout has taken place since the 1960s.
The match at the Etihad Stadium was initially scheduled for Sunday, however, due to City's commitments in the Champions League on Tuesday, it was moved forward by 24 hours. Pep Guardiola's side will face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the first leg of the semi final tie on May 9.
However, a 12:30pm kick-off would have clashed with the coronation of King Charles III which will take place on the same day.
A statement released by the Premier League read: "With Manchester City visiting Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday 9 May, their home match with Leeds United has moved from Sunday 7 May to 15:00 BST on Saturday 6 May.
"The match will remain live on Sky Sports in the UK, subject to further consultation with relevant stakeholders regarding Article 48. The usual Saturday 12:30 BST UK live broadcast slot has been avoided so as not to clash with the King’s Coronation. A later kick-off is not possible due to police resourcing."

Lancaster’s explanation is spot on. It’s caused some discussion but was already scheduled for live coverage before it was moved back from lunchtime on the Saturday to 3.

Poor excuses.
It’s either a blackout or it isn’t.

Fat Sam open brackets tactical genius close brackets was quoted today saying he can stop Harland by cutting off his supply. If only all the other managers had thought of that city would be battling relegation. Fat Sam I take my hat off to you.

Re: Man City v Leeds - 3pm Blackout
Not a poor excuse at all. It was scheduled outside the blackout period and confirmed for TV. It's not their fault that the coronation forced the change of time. It was fully agreed with all parties that this could happen.
Re: Man City v Leeds - 3pm Blackout
Think the original televised fixture was Sunday, not midweek, and Champions League next week meant it could not be played on Sunday.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 6:21 pmLancaster’s explanation is spot on. The 3pm blackout was designed to protect the crowd attendances of all the lower league matches.
No-one's playing today.

Not sure how much Allardyce's tactical genius has had to do with Haaland tripping over his own feet and tackling himself...TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 3:41 pmYou can take the **** all you like but he's kept Haaland off the scoresheet.
