I think he's definitely changed a few opinions with the decisions he's taken which, so far, have pretty much all paid off.
Yes, ALK saddled the club with debt, but I think the new, progressive approach will generate more for the club in the long run than under the previous stewardship.

I think that’s an extremely fair comment! - Agreed

It’s a very fair comment.
A lot of people on here doubted that we could improve the brand of Burnley and extend our reach. Essentially we’d his our ceiling. Others were far more positive.
Whilst it is still early days the signs are very good that all those things can be achieved and the club can move forwards in all areas.

I was looking top left and thought “that’s my mates Auntie Doris” and wondered why you wanted to know.

Some interesting comments in the interview on the attached by AP. Doesn’t sound like VK gives much confidence on how long he’ll stick around which is understandable.

It’s a really interesting interview.
AP describes having Kompany like dating the most beautiful girl in town & knowing she’ll probably never marry you

Fair analogy, I think.
Then plays down what we’ll be able to do in summer, which is fair enough.
Admits to not knowing JJ before an introduction but seems things are going great guns. Mentioned other special people he’s been introduced to, so maybe potential other investors?

I didn’t like the way the club was purchased and still don’t however you can’t argue with the changes and freshness he’s brought here.
I never attacked his character because he always came across quite a likeable guy and I commended him for having the nuts to sack Dyche and the following game wandering around the ground mingling with fans. Didn’t hide away he put his nuts on the line and made the right call.
At the end he will be judged fairly on his time here by how well the team does, so far so good for me

He hardly said that Kompany's gonna jump on next X43!!

He said he didn’t know what VK thinks.
On this basis my comment that VK doesn’t give much confidence is still a fair summary.

But that came in answer to a question when Pace said he hopes VK stays here a very, very, very long time and he was asked does VK feel the same.
So essentially he doesn’t know whether VK wants to stay a very, very, very long time. I’m comfortable with that.

Alan Pace has never heard of JJ Watts either. Clearly, he is unaware that JJ is bigger than Ryan Reynolds.
In football, the five year contract is irrelevant. It's just a business deal that means the club gets mode compensation if he leaves and VK gets more money if he gets sacked.
Alan Pace has no idea whether he is going to honour it or not and says so himself.

It’s not about me or what I think.
The point is about AP not knowing what VK thinks, irrespective of the length of new deal he’s just signed.
AP says he doesn’t know how long we’ll be ‘dating’ VK.
VK obviously holds his cards close to his chest.
As Pete snd many others have said a contract length is pretty irrelevant. It gets us past the immediate speculation & uncertainty this summer but guarantees nothing for years 2-5.

Pace doesn't know because VK doesn't know. Citeh could have an awful start to next season and come knocking in six months time or it could be five years. It might only be her rich good looking ex that she will dump us for or it could be any handsome bloke with with a few quid. All we can do is keep being the best boyfriend we can be and hope that kind and funny is enough!

Think people are reading too much into this
All AP is saying is that VK is clearly destined for bigger things than BFC
We all know it, and we'll just enjoy it as long as we can

To continue with the analogy, let's hope our current girl doesn't have her head turned by some dodgy London " wide-boy " with a few quid promising her the earth, only for her to find out that " all that glitters is not gold " .....

I thought Pace’s analogy was hilarious and very to the point. It also reveals something about VK the man. It’s clear VK is not a Coyle/ Beale bull shitter who vows undying love for the club and then jumps ship without a second’s thought but someone who has in his own mind a clear path to the top.
That includes next season with us in the Prem and to get the players he wants in the new contract has been signed. As for years 2-5 that will depend on two things: how good VK actually proves to be next season and the level of resources Pace can provide.
I think the City job is a bit of a red herring. They are a hard faced organisation who will choose the best possible coach available not the one with the strongest ties to City. Arsenal went for Arteta out of desperation. City can choose the best. If that is VK we are in for an incredible year or two ahead.

On this season alone he’s been fantastic.
Great to see him turn almost all the negative press about him around.
I know they were surprised by some of the more personal attacks on them but I think they’ve learnt a lot this season.

He’s just signed a new 5 year contract with us. Even though he won’t be here anywhere near that long, surely that must count at least as an engagement??!!

To me it’s clear now, Dyche was never going to be a fit in this new modern way of doing things, does make you think why we offered dyche a new 5 year deal but it’s all worked out in the end

Encouraging to know he's a realist about VK. One lesson we should have learned from the Coyle saga is you always need to be planning ahead. You don't have to give up and sit in the corner sobbing when your latest 'messiah' leaves - then hire Brian Laws. Brighton just go and get a better manager. Swansea did it for several years too.
That said, I reckon he'll be here for another year or two.

Exactly that - same with players imo
I think as a 'smaller club' If you have a player on the top of his game at their potential highest market value and a bigger team comes in you say thanks and send them on their merry way.
The absolute worst thing to do is let a contract rundown to 12 months or less knowing the player has 0 intention to resign (unless it's a senior pro that wouldn't fetch a notable transfer fee)

I think no-one can be so naive to believe VK will still be with us in 5 years.
Good business by AP to secure this long term deal, let's enjoy the time while VK is still with us.
