Luton have more than it needs to turn this one around.

Taking any sort of lead into the second leg can be huge. Much will depend on how Sunderland’s depleted defence copes with the likely onslaught.

yeah it's poor, something Howard Webb needs to address in the summer with the clubs, it's ruining the game and needs punishing to a greater level

I think there’s only Dyche concerned about it

Just after the goal, when the Sunderland corner was headed out for a throw in, it looked as though Diallo was assaulted by a guy from the crowd as he went for the ball.

I think of the two of these clubs I’d prefer to be competing against Luton next season. Also would be nice to see a new club in the PL.

I just want to see the premier league try to incorporate Kenilworth Road into their “Greatest League in the World” mantra.

Really? They look very much like a team that sneaked into the top 6 at the death.

Sunderland fans must be absolutely bricking it every time Luton get a set piece.

Doesn’t help when you don’t have a fit central defender. With Batth & Ballard they would look a lot stronger.

Don’t want Luton up sick of their fans giving it the ‘little old Luton’ on FB pages.

Sunderland haven’t played any football because they can’t put two passes together. Luton have been very good.

It’s very high energy, front foot, physical football. I’ve been very impressed with them this half. They’ve totally dominated.

But credit to them given where they were a few years ago

I fancied Sunderland before kick off, and they do play the better football, but they just can't stand up to Lutons physicality.

Almost the same game when we were there. So difficult to play against them. But we defended well that day and had a bit of luck too.

All their bigger players missing through injury and it’s costing them. They can’t cope with it.

Luton have a very bright manager in Edwards-destined for better things with a good CV. Fail to see how Luton could play in the PL without absolutely huge improvements to their ground and facility. Almost an impossibility in a close season of two months
